More free content is available to Amazon Fire TV users through deals with programmers including music video service Xite.

Starting Monday users will also get business and finance news from Bloomberg, The Street and CNBC; entertainment news from E! News and Mixable; and previews, trailers and how-tos about games and eSports from IGN, ESTV and Crown Channel.

“Fire TV customers are turning to free ad-supported TV streaming (FAST) content to complement their streaming favorites. We introduced sports, movie trailers, and cooking categories this fall, and added free topical playlists to the Home screen to make it easier for customers to catch up on the latest events they care most about, like the midterm elections or the World Series. Since September, monthly hours streamed of this content grew more than 250%,” said Charlotte Maines, director of Fire TV advertising, monetization and engagement. “We’re excited to announce today that we’re offering customers more of the content they love, including music videos, gaming content and viral videos — all for free.”

Xite said Fire TV users will be able to see videos from artists on the Billboard Hot 100, such as Taylor Swift, Drake, Harry Styles, Lizzo, Karol G and Luke Combs. They will also get a back catalog of classics from various genres. New content will be added daily, expanding the collection of video available. ■

Xite said it reached its first ad-supported linear distribution deal in North America with Samsung and will launch four streaming music channels on Samsung TV Plus.

The first two, Xite’s Rock On and Just Chill are available now. Two more will be announced at a later date.

In contrast, our latest partnership with Samsung TV Plus provides consumers with a highly curated linear experience that allows them to just lean back and enjoy.”

The Rock On channel features rock and metal music videos from artists ranging from classics to future legends.

Just Chill features laidback music videos, intimate live performances and acoustic sessions.

Xite’s linear channels and app are available on Samsung Smart TVs, Comcast Xfinity, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Sky Q, Apple TV, Rogers and Ziggo.

Samsung TV Plus offers 160 free, ad supported video channels to smart TV owners.

XITE, a Dutch music company, said it has launched a 4K music video offering in Canada following a new distribution deal with Rogers Communications.

Rogers is offering the new 4K service from XITE on channel 987. Access is limited to Rogers 4K subs who have a NextBox that supports the video format.

“The launch in Canada is a great first step for XITE in North America. I am very happy with this partnership and with all of our new Canadian viewers,” Cees Honig, CEO of XITE Networks U.S.A., said in a statement.

XITE, which launched its music television channel in 2008, said it is now distributed in 15 million-plus homes in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Qatar and, most recently, in Canada.
