Amazon Studios has signed legendary film director Woody Allen to write a direct a television series, the company announced Tuesday.

The Untitled Woody Allen Project, the first television series for the Annie Hall director, has already received a rare full season order from Amazon, with episodes written and directed by Allen. Typically Amazon develops several pilots for its scripted programming and allows viewers to vote on which ones they like best before greenlighting a full series run.

“Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all-time, and it’s an honor to be working with him on his first television series,” said Roy Price, Vice President of Amazon Studios in a statement. “From Annie Hall to Blue Jasmine, Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn’t be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year.”
