                                <p><a href="https://www.nexttv.com/tag/uptv">UPtv, which offers uplifting programming that often touches on faith</a>, kicks off its “Bring the Spring” stunt March 19 with movie <em>God Bless the Broken Road</em>. It tells the story of a young mother who loses her husband in Afghanistan, and gets by on faith, family and friends. Lindsay Pulsipher and Makenzie Moss star. </p><p>Documentary <em>I Go to the Rock: The Gospel Music of Whitney Houston</em> premieres Friday, March 24. The film, hosted by singer CeCe Winans, focuses on Houston’s faith and love of gospel music. Barry Jennings produces. “The documentary will take viewers on a journey from her first-ever performance in front of an audience to her many breathtaking appearances performing gospel songs through 1996’s <em>The Preacher&apos;s Wife</em> soundtrack, the best-selling gospel album of all time,” according to UPtv. </p><p>Houston died in 2012. </p><p><a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/uptv-gets-into-easter-spirit-with-original-movies">Easter is the centerpiece of Bring the Spring. </a></p><p>“UPtv is the place every year to celebrate the true meaning of Easter,” Hector Campos, senior VP, content strategy and acquisition at UPtv, said. “We invite our viewers to celebrate the promise of new beginnings and the renewal that comes with the start of Spring as we celebrate ‘Bring the Spring’ with contemporary movie premieres and series, the highly-anticipated Whitney Houston music special and classic Bible favorites. Bring your family together to celebrate the Easter season, feel uplifted, and have a chance at winning prizes.”</p><p>Other Bring the Spring projects include <em>The Confession Musical</em> on Sunday, March 26. Based on the book series <em>The Heritage of Lancaster County</em> by Beverly Lewis, <em>The Confession Musical</em> features performances by Chonda Pierce and John Schneider and the story of two worlds colliding as a young Amish woman seeks to find her birth mother. </p><p>Season two of drama <em>The Chosen</em> starts as part of a marathon Sunday, April 2, which goes on from 2 to 11 p.m. ET. Dallas Jenkins directs this project, about the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth. “Primarily set in Judaea and Galilee in the 1st century, the series centers on Jesus and the different people who met and followed him,” said UP. </p><p>Jonathan Roumie plays Jesus.  </p><p>Movie <em>Southern Gospel</em> premieres Easter Sunday. It tells the story of a rock star&apos;s life that comes crashing down, and he must fight his demons to realize his childhood ambition of becoming a preacher. <em>Southern Gospel</em> stars Max Erich and Katelyn Nacon. ■</p>

                                <p>R&B singer Bobby Brown will be the subject of two <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/tag/A&E">A&E</a>-based programming events debuting in May.</p><p>Brown, a member of the musical group New Edition and ex-husband of the late Whitney Houston, will be chronicled in a two-night, A&E documentary series <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/tag/Biography"><em>Biography</em></a><em>: Bobby Brown</em>, debuting May 30. The documentary will offer an up-close and personal look at Brown’s journey to stardom and the fallout from his personal struggles with sobriety and the tragic deaths of Houston and two of his children, A&E said. </p><p><em>Biography: Bobby Brown</em> will feature interviews with such music personalities as Usher, Jermaine Dupri, Keith Sweat, Babyface and New Edition’s Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe and Johnny Gill, as well as his family and  friends, according to the network.</p><p>On May 31, A&E will debut <em>Bobby Brown: Every Little Step</em>, a 12-part docuseries which will follow Brown as he focuses on new business ventures while performing with New Edition during the group’s 2022 reunion tour, said A&E representatives.</p><p>Brown was the subject of 2005 Bravo reality series <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/tag/Being-Bobby-Brown"><em>Being Bobby Brown</em></a>, as well as a 2018 BET scripted movie, <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/tag/The-Bobby-Brown-Story"><em>The Bobby Brown Story</em></a>. ■ </p>

                                <p>ABC debuts the summer series <em>Superstar</em>, focused on “the mavericks who shaped American culture,” in the network’s words, Aug. 11. Whitney Houston is the topic of the premiere episode. Kobe Bryant and Robin Williams will follow. </p><p>There will be four episodes. <em>Superstar </em>comes from the producers of <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/20-20"><em>20/20</em></a> and <em>Truth and Lies</em>. The episodes last for an hour and run in the 10 p.m. ET slot. They shift to Hulu the day after their premiere. </p><p>“The series travels deep inside the lives of these icons and features interviews with friends and family who reveal the meteoric highs and the devastating costs of fame,” said ABC. </p><p><em>Superstar: Whitney Houston</em> features new interviews with musicians Brandy, Chaka Khan, BeBe Winans and Darlene Love; Narada Michael Walden, musician and producer; Michael Bearden, musical director; and Savion Glover, dancer and choreographer. It also includes interviews with Houston and Bobby Brown from the ABC News archives.</p><p>“It is exciting to watch the legacy <em>20/20</em> brand expand, first with <em>Truth and Lies</em> and now with the <em>Superstar </em>series,” said David Sloan, senior executive producer, ABC primetime content. “Our talented team uses the skills they’ve honed from producing two-hour <em>20/20</em> programs to provide unmatched reporting and fresh insight into these icons.”</p><p>Sloan is senior executive producer on <em>Superstar </em>and Muriel Pearson is executive producer.</p><p><a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/david-muir-gets-expanded-anchor-role-at-abc-news">David Muir</a> and <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/robach-holmes-named-co-anchors-on-gma3">Amy Robach</a> host <em>20/20</em>. Fox (<em>Empire, Kill Bill</em>).</p><p><em>Bobbi Kristina</em> is directed by Ty Hodges and executive produced by Tracey Baker Simmons and Wanda Shelley, according to TV One. </p><p>“The tabloids painted a picture of two superstars who lived a tumultuous life, but we often forget that in the process a little girl had to grow up in a limelight that she did not choose,” D’Angela Proctor, TV One Head of Original Programming & Production said in a statement. “In its simplest form, Bobbi Kristina is a story about a beautiful mother-daughter relationship intertwined with both of their desires to be loved; one just happened to be a superstar and the other an innocent bystander to her parents’ fame.”<br/><br/></p><div class="youtube-video" data-nosnippet ><div class="video-aspect-box"><iframe data-lazy-priority="low" data-lazy-src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/qtOkelkcaJ0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div></div>

The movie, which chronicled the relationship betewen the late Houston and singer/writer Bobby Brown, also averaged 2.2 million Adults 25-54, 2.1 million Adults 18-49, 1.6 million Women 18-49 and 1.6 million Women 25-54.</p><p>Following the movie, the network’s <em>Bobby Brown: Remembering Whitney</em> special delivered 4.1 million viewers, as well as 1.9 million Adults 25-54, 1.8 million Adults 18-49, 1.4 million Women 18-49 and 1.4 million Women 25-54, according to the network.</p><p>At 11:00pm, the special <em>Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances</em> brought in an additional 3.2 million total viewers, said Lifetime.</p><p>Tonight Lifetime will encore the entire Whitney Houston-themed block beginning at 8 p.m. with the movie <em>Whitney.</em></p>

Yaya DaCosta, (<em>Lee Daniels’ The Butler</em>) and Arlen Escarpeta (<em>Final Destination 5</em>) star in the movie, directed by Angela Bassett. </p>
