TruTV will add a new scripted series and two pilot shows to its growing list of scripted comedy programming, the network announced Wednesday.

The new series, Tacoma FD, is produced by and stars Super Troopers co-creators Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme, and follows the antics of firehouse members in the wettest city in America, according to network officials.

The series joins the network’s lineup of original programming including such shows as At Home with Amy Sedaris, I’m Sorry and Those Who Can’t.

In addition, truTV announced two pilot series, including a comedic medical advice show created by Ken Jeong (Dr. Ken) and an animated project from comedian Jo Koy dubbed This Functional Family, said the network.

Keeping on brand, truTV will look to tickle the funny bones of young viewers with its first scripted-series foray, Those Who Can’t.

The sitcom follows a group of frustrated and inept teachers who often times behave more irresponsibly and childishly than the high school kids they’re tasked to teach. Adam Clayton-Holland, Andrew Orvedahl and Ben Roy, members of comedy troupe The Grawlix, star as the three most misdirected of the educators, with Maria Thayer joining the crew as Abbey Logan, a well-intentioned librarian willing to participate in the often-corrupt hijinks of her fellow co-workers.

There are hijinks galore. In the pilot, Spanish teacher Loren Payton (Cayton-Holland), gym teacher Andy Fairbell (Orvedahl) and history teacher Billy Shoemaker (Roy) all conspire to teach a lesson to school jock and bully Bryce, who consistently exploits the teachers’ shortcomings and insecurities. In one humorous scene, Bryce and a couple of friends play paintball with an unsuspecting Shoemaker at his home.

When the three teachers fail to set up Bryce’s expulsion through Principal Quinn (Rory Scovel) — who routinely excuses all of Bryce’s misdoings with each check his wealthy father writes to the school — the three turn to a unlikely set of students to administer schoolyard justice. Librarian Logan offers the final blow to the revenge plot by tattooing Bryce’s signature calling card on one of the student’s prized possessions.

Those Who Can’t offers up a lot of the typical sophomoric humor one would expect in a high school-themed comedy, but also features charming characters that viewers will want to follow just to see how much more mayhem and mischief they can create.

TruTV is high on Those Who Can’t, having already green-lighted a second season of the series months in advance of this week’s series premiere. As a vehicle to reach young viewers looking for comedy, Those Who Can’t hits its mark.

TruTV didn’t wait long to renew its first scripted series, greenlighting a second season of Those Who Can’t months before the show's premiere.

The series, which centers on three trouble-making high school teachers, will debut Feb. 11. TruTv said Tuesday it has picked up 13 additional episodes of the series, executively produced by Dean Lorey, that will air later in 2016.

The network has also ordered a pilot from Lorey dubbed Shady Neighbors, said truth officials.

“We love Those Who Can’t so much we literally couldn’t wait to make more,” said Chris Linn, president for truTV in a statement “Working with Dean has been an incredible experience, and we look forward to developing new projects with him as we continue to take truTV further into the scripted arena.”

Other truTv pilots in development include an untitled medical comedy from comedian Tom Segura and a pilot script from Melissa Hunter (YouTube series Adult Wednesday Addams), said network officials.

TruTV will screen the first two episodes of its upcoming scripted comedy Those Who Can’t in October at the New York Television Festival, officials said Thursday.

The festival will provide its exclusive look at the series – which follows three dysfunctional high school teachers – Oct. 20 at the SVA Theatre in New York, said officials. Those Who Can't will debut on the channel in 2016.

Series creators Ben Roy, Adam Cayton-Holland and Andrew Orvedahl will also be featured in a post-screening discussion along with co-star Maria Thayer (Eagleheart) and executive producer/showrunner Dean Lorey (Arrested Development, The Crazy Ones). 

The screening is part of a larger partnership between truTV and NYTVF which includes the previously-announced truTV Greenlight Award, which identifies and outstanding comedy project from among the Festival's 2015 Official Artists.

truTV is set to kick off series renewals and pilots, including the second season renewal of The Carbonaro Effect, the competition series Fake Off and more, the network announced today. 

The comedy series, Friends of the People has also been ordered for 10 new half-hour episodes, which will air Tuesdays at 10 p.m. 

A one-hour special of the truTV Presents The Impractical Jokers featuring The Tenderloins tour will also be featured on March 26, and Impractical Jokers will air its season four premiere on Jan. 29. 

The network has also greenlit two all new series, including 10 one-hour episodes of Kings of Cue (working title), which is about New York City’s pool halls and eight one-hour episodes of Santas in the Barn, a holiday series.

The new comedy series pilot, Those Who Can't, is in the works as well.
