H&I Network celebrates the new year with “A Toast to Twilight,” a marathon of The Twilight Zone that runs December 31 to January 2. The fun begins on New Year’s Eve at 8 p.m. ET/PT and continues through Tuesday, January 2 at 6 a.m., with 68 back to back episodes. 

Episodes will include “Monsters Are Due on Maple Street,” “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” and “The Eye of the Beholder.”

The Twilight Zone ran on CBS from 1959-1964. Rod Serling created the show and hosts. H&I said The Twilight Zone “forever changed the television landscape with its trademark blend of science fiction, horror and fantasy narratives.”

Weigel Broadcasting owns H&I, short for Heroes and Icons. The Twilight Zone marathon spent five years on Weigel’s Decades Network, which rebranded as Catchy Comedy in March. 

H&I features shows with heroic characters, including Star Trek, Walker, Texas Ranger, Nash Bridges and The A-Team. 

The Decades network offers a Carol Burnett marathon over Christmas that it is calling A Christmas Carol. The three-day marathon of Carol Burnett and Friends starts at noon ET on Christmas Eve and ends the morning of December 26.

The cast includes Vicki Lawrence, Harvey Korman, Lyle Waggoner and Tim Conway. Burnett's guests include Betty White, Rock Hudson, Sammy Davis Jr., Cher and Dick Van Dyke.

The program debuted as The Carol Burnett Show in 1967, and was relaunched for syndication in 1977 as Carol Burnett and Friends.

Moving on to yew year’s, a Twilight Zone marathon happens on Decades. A Toast to Twilight starts at noon ET New Year’s Eve and continues until the morning of January 2.

Rod Serling created and hosted the show, which ran from 1959 to 1964. CBS All Access offered its own The Twilight Zone series for two seasons.

Decades offers The Twilight Zone stunt “Rod, White and Blue: A Twilight Zone Celebration” starting Saturday, July 2, at 12 p.m. ET and concluding Tuesday, July 5, at 6 a.m. Fans can binge 120 episodes of The Twilight Zone. 

Created and hosted by Rod Serling, The Twilight Zone aired on CBS from 1959-1964, and blended science fiction, horror and fantasy narratives. Each episode featured a moral or unexpected plot twist, and social issues of the ’60s often came up too. 

It is the fifth year of Decades offering The Twilight Zone marathon around the July 4 holiday. 

Decades, which is part of Weigel Broadcasting, is available across the country, including on the Fox-owned station subchannels in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, Detroit, Atlanta, Tampa, Phoenix, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Austin, Texas, and Gainesville, Florida. The network is also available in Comcast homes in New York/New Jersey, San Francisco, Houston, Detroit, Atlanta and Minneapolis-St. Paul and streams on Frndly TV. ■

Season two of The Twilight Zone is back on CBS All Access. Jordan Peele narrates the reboot, and executive produces too. 

The first episode, called “Meet in the Middle,” shows a man named Phil suffering from hearing a woman’s voice in his head. Phil finds it hard to live with the woman constantly speaking in his brain, interrupting his dates and other private moments. 

Over time, Phil and the woman behind the voice, Annie, begin to hit it off. At least Phil does, falling hard for Annie. 

He begins digging around online for more information, and finds Annie is married. She notes that her marriage is a dead end, giving Phil hope. 

The two plan to meet at the midpoint between their homes. Phil is on a train when he hears Annie in distress. He gets out of the train and heads to where she is, and faces off with a man he believed to be harming Annie, not realizing Annie is a step ahead of him. 

It ends badly, at least for Phil. There isn’t much to like about Phil, but Jimmi Simpson plays him deftly. It’s a creepy episode. 

The second episode, “The Who of You,” sees a struggling actor named Harry rob a bank. He has the ability to lock eyes with another person, then swap souls with them after the eye lock has happened. Others in the swap-personality chain include a woman from the bank Harry attempted to rob, a police officer, a psychic, a jogger and a boy. 

Over time, it’s a bit challenging to remember who swapped souls with who. 

Ethan Embry plays Harry. 

Chasing Harry all the while is a detective played by Daniel Sunjata, formerly of Rescue Me. 

Frothy ‘60s pop offsets the anxious mood of the episode. 

The new season has some name actors in the cast, including Joel McHale, Damon Wayans Jr., Gretchen Mol and Topher Grace. The episodes we watched are faithful nods to the ‘60s series that predated the reboot. The stories didn’t stay with me long, but were fun to watch. They offer entertaining twists on the world we know, and Peele nimbly inserts himself in the frame to deliver his sage assessment. 

The first week of summer will see the final season debut of OWN's Greenleaf as well as the return of CBS' All-Access' The Twilight Zone. 

OWN on June 23 will premiere the fifth and final season of its mega church drama Greenleaf, starring Keith David and Lynn Whitfield. The series finished its fourth season as the most watched original scripted series on ad-supported cable for African-American women and total viewers, according to OWN.

On June 25 streaming service CBS All Access will return anthology series The Twilight Zone for its sophomore run. The series, based on the 1960's series of the same name, is executive produced by Jordan Peele.

HBO for the fourth year in a row drew top honors for NAMIC’s 26th annual Vision Awards, the diversity organization announced Wednesday morning.

HBO won four Vision Awards to top all networks, with NBC following a close second with three wins. The Vision Awards honor programming that reflects the lives, spirit and contributions of people of color that mirror the diverse composition of the viewing audience.

CBS All Access’ Twilight Zone reboot hosted by Jordan Peele (pictured) was the top choice in the Best Performance, Drama category, while HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show won top honors for Best Performance, Comedy, said NAMIC. Overall NAMIC announced a total of 17 Vision Awards for networks and distributors this year.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored how much our nation relies on broadcast and cable programmers and storytellers to educate, entertain, and enrich our communities,” said NAMIC President and CEO A. Shuanise Washington. “Today, we not only are honoring winners of the Vision Awards but also are offering our deepest appreciation for the vital service they provide.”

CBS All Access’ resurrection of The Twilight Zone sci-fi series and the return of BBC America's Killing Eve drama show leads a long list of series premiering this week.

The new version of The Twilight Zone, created and hosted by Jordan Peele, will premiere April 1, according to the streaming service. Also premiering on April’s Fools Day is National Geographic’s new documentary series Hostile Planet.

In addition, several freshman series will return for their sophomore seasons, including BBC America’s Killing Eve, TBS’ The Last O.G., and Showtime’s The Chi.

CBS All Access Thursday revealed the official trailer for its The Twilight Zone reboot, which debuts April 1, according the streaming service.

The series, hosted by Jordan Peele (Key & Peele), will premiere with two episodes on Monday, April 1, followed by all subsequent episodes debuting on Thursdays beginning April 11, said the service. 

The original Twilight Zone premiered on Oct. 2, 1959 on CBS. The Twilight Zone is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films. Jordan Peele and Simon Kinberg serve as executive producers along with Win Rosenfeld, Audrey Chon, Glen Morgan, Carol Serling, Rick Berg and Greg Yaitanes.
