Amazon Studios has ordered a fourth season of comedy The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The third season premiered Dec. 6 on Amazon Prime Video.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel received two Golden Globe nominations earlier this week, for best comedy and for best performance by an actress in a comedy, with Rachel Brosnahan making the short list in that category. The show got the top comedy Emmy in 2018.

“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has been a worldwide phenomenon, and season three has been no exception, with the series’ most watched opening weekend ever. We’re so happy that our Prime Video customers will get to see Midge’s story continue in season four,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios. “Amy and Dan have created such funny, charming, relatable characters, all with their inimitable wit and eye for detail, and our customers around the world will be delighted to have another season in the world of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”

Amy Sherman-Palladino created and show and executive produces with Daniel Palladino. Tony Shalhoub and Alex Borstein are also in the cast.

Streaming service Netflix dominated nominations for the 2019 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, announced Wednesday morning.

Netflix led all streaming services, cable and broadcast networks with 15 SAG Awards nominations, according to the organization. Amazon’s Prime Video and HBO followed close behind.

Among the shows with multiple SAG nominations were Netflix’s Ozark and The Kominsky Method, Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, NBC’s This Is Us, HBO’s Barry and Prime’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

The 25th annual SAG Awards will air live on TNT and TBS on Jan. 27.

HBO rebounded from a Golden Globes shutout last year to lead the 75th annual Golden Globes awards winners in the television category, announced Sunday night.

Led by its limited series Big Little Lies, HBO won four Golden Globes during NBC's live ceremony telecast, hosted by Seth Meyers. Streaming services Amazon and Hulu both won two Golden Globes awards, with FX, NBC and Netflix garnering one award each, according to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Big Little Lies’ four awards doubled the count generated by second place finishers, Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Hulu’sThe Handmaid’s Tale. The streaming shows won the Golden Globe awards for best comedy and best drama series, respectively, marking the first time shows from streaming services swept the coveted awards. 

Elisabeth Moss followed up her recent Emmy Award win for best actress in a drama series with a Golden Globe in the category, while Sterling K. Brown won the Globe award for best performance by an actor in a drama, matching his Emmy award in the category.

Oprah Winfrey --who was awarded the Cecil B. deMille Award during the ceremony -- summed up the sentiments of many Globe winners who spoke in support of the #MeToo movement by saying she's been inspired by all the women who have told their stories regarding sexual harrassment.

“Speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we have,” she said. “A new day is on the horizon.”
