                                <p>Cable networks and streaming services are gearing up this weekend to celebrate Father’s Day as well as Juneteenth -- the holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States -- with original programming specials and events. </p><p>In celebration of Father’s Day (June 20) , OWN on June 19 will feature a special, <em>Honoring Our Kings: A Black Dad Conversation,</em> hosted by Sterling K. Brown who discusses the joys and challenges of Black fatherhood with such celebrities as John Legend, D.L. Hughley, Tony Gonzalez and Deon Cole. Example of titles offered in 4K from The Smithsonian Channel include <em>Mysteries of the Rainforest, Aerial America, Sacred Sites</em> and <em>David Attenborough’s Conquest of the Skies.</em></p><p><a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/layer3-tv-lets-hsn-viewers-shop-remote-416203" data-original-url="https://www.multichannel.com/news/layer3-tv-lets-hsn-viewers-shop-remote-416203">RELATED: Layer3 TV Lets HSN Viewers Shop by Remote</a></p><p>Layer3 TV also has 4K distribution with Insight TV and NASA TV, and has offered several live TV events in the format, including Fox Sports’ 4K college football coverage, and the Bellator NYC mixed martial arts fight night in June.</p><p>Layer3 TV supports 4K on all its set-top boxes, though customers will also need a 4K-capable TV to take advantage of content delivered in that format. Layer3 TV said more than half of its subs depend on the provider for 4K content.</p><p>Denver-based Layer3 TV has launched in Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington D.C., Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Longmont, Colo. A launch in New York is in the works. </p>

Enterprise from the original series, said network officials. The two-hour special also profiles a new generation of engineers and scientists who are making <em>Star Trek</em>’s visionary technology real, said the network.</p><p>The original <em>Star Trek</em> series premiered on NBC Sept. 8, 1966 and has spawned a slew of spinoff TV series and movies.</p><p><em>Building Star Trek</em> is produced by Yap Films for Smithsonian Channel and Discovery Canada, with Yap Films’ Elliott Halpern and Elizabeth Trojian serving as executive producers, along with Smithsonian Channel’s David Royle, Charles Poe and Tim Evans. </p>
