Cable and streaming services will look to scare up viewers during the week leading up to Halloween with several new original horror and sci-fi movies and shows.

Paramount Plus on Oct. 29 will debut a new horror film, Paranormal Activity: Next Of Kin -- the seventh installment in the popular Paranormal Activity movie franchise.

On the sci-fi side, Paramount Plus on Oct. 28 debuts its youth-targeted, animated Star Trek:Prodigy series, the latest project from the storied franchise.

TBS will debut a new season of its comedy series The Last O.G. on Oct. 26, the network said Thursday.

Series star Tracy Morgan will return for the fourth season of the comedy series, joining Ryan Gaul, Taylor Mosby, Dante Hoagland, Anna Maria Horsford and Da’Vine Joy Randolph. Also, Janet Hubert (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), Malik Yoba (First Wives Club), Wood Harris (The Wire) and Gary Dourdan (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) will serve as guest stars, according to TBS. 

Season three of The Last O.G. reached 20 million viewers across TBS’ linear and digital platforms, according to the network.

The 10-episode fourth season of the series, executive produced by Morgan, Jordan Peele, Owen Smith, Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, Joel Zadak, Mike Mariano and Steve Ast, will debut with back-to-back episodes, with an additional eight episodes to air weekly.

More than 30 networks, streaming services and digital companies, led by HBO, garnered 2021 NAMIC Vision Awards nominations as part of the diversity organization’s annual recognition of excellence in inclusive programming. 

WarnerMedia’s HBO led all programmers with 17 nominations across numerous categories (and its streaming companion, HBO Max, had two on its own). HBO dominated the “best performance in a comedy” category with three nominations for Insecure (Jay Ellis, Issa Rae and Yvonne Orji) and one for I May Destroy You star Michaela Coel. Tracy Morgan of TBS’s The Last O.G. rounded out the category.

The Last O.G., Insecure and I May Destroy You will also vie for best comedy series along with HBO’s Betty and Pop TV’s One Day at a Time. Nominees for top drama are CBS’s All Rise, AMC Plus’s Gangs of London, HBO’s Lovecraft Country, CBS’s S.W.A.T. and Showtime’s The Chi.

NAMIC in April will announce the winners of the Vision Awards, which honors programming that reflects the lives, spirit and contributions of people of color and mirrors the diverse composition of the viewing audience.

TBS said it ordered season four of The Last O.G., the comedy series starring Tracy Morgan.

For season four, Owen Smith will serve as showrunner.

“I am so excited that we get to make another season of The Last O.G.,” said Morgan. “All I ever want to do is try and bring joy to people which is hard right now but I appreciate that we will have the chance to go back to work and do what we can to make the world a little brighter.”

In the series, Morgan’s character is an ex-con who comes back to Brooklyn after 15 years in prison to see how much his old neighborhood has changed. The show was co-created by Jordan Peele.

Smith has been a writer for shows including Black-ish, Survivor’s Remorse, The Arsenio Hall Show and The Nightly Show with Larry Wlimore. As a comedian he’s appeared on shows including The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Conan.

“I was already a big fan of the show so getting the opportunity to helm this production and work with this amazing cast and crew is a huge honor,” said Smith. “I’m looking forward to telling stories that humanize Black men in ways that are not just comedic but relevant and real.”

The Last O.G. is executive produced by Morgan; Peele for Monkeypaw Productions; Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum for The Tannenbaum Company; Joel Zadak of Artists First; Owen Smith and Steve Ast. Co-executive producers include Jason Wang for The Tannenbaum Company and Win Rosenfeld for Monkeypaw Productions.

TBS will premiere the third season of The Last O.G. on April 7, the network said Thursday. 

The series, which stars Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish, follows the exploits of a former inmate who looks to pick up his life in his old, now gentrified neighborhood of Brooklyn. The Last O.G. is executive produced by Tracy Morgan, Jordan Peele for Monkeypaw Productions, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum for The Tannenbaum Company, Joel Zadak of Artists First, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Carl Jones, and Steve Ast.

TBS has picked up a third season of its original comedy series The Last O.G., WarnerMedia said Wednesday at its upfront presentation.

The series, which stars Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish, launched as cable’s most-watched new comedy in 2018 and the highest-rated cable comedy debut since 2015. The show currently reaches a multiplatform audience of 23 million viewers, according to TBS.

The network has also greenlighted a new unscripted series starring Full Frontal with Samantha Bee correspondent Amy Hoggart. The nonpolitical, untitled Amy Hoggart project will focus on everyday problems through Hoggart’s unique lens, according to the network.

In addition, TBS has ordered a second installment of Miracle Workers. The freshman series has reached a multiplatform audience of 26.4 million viewers across all TBS platforms, according to network officials.

WarnerMedia has also ordered a second season of its post-apocalyptic sci-fi series Snowpiercer prior to the series’ 2020 premiere on TBS (where it has moved from its original home, TNT). The series stars Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs.

“Snowpiercer is the perfect show to kick off TBS’s entry into dramas with intricate storytelling, stunning visuals and first-class acting,” TBS and TNT general manager Brett Weitz said in a statement. “We believe in the longevity of this series and that audiences will be amazed by the fantastical world that brings to life such relevant social, political and environmental issues.”

TBS will bring back its comedy series The Last O.G. for a second season on April 2, the network said Tuesday.

The sophomore campaign of the series, which stars Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish, will also feature such guest stars as Method Man, Rev. Run, Anna Maria Horsford and Joshua Rivera.

The series is executive produced by Morgan, Jordan Peele, Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, Saladin Patterson and Joel Zadak. 

TBS said it has ordered a second season of the new comedy series The Last O.G. and ordered a third season of Search Party along with signing a development deal with Search Party executive producers Sarah-Violet Bliss and Charles Rogers.

The Last O.G., starring Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish, debuted on April 3 and has ranked as the top cable comedy of 2018, according to TBS. Its executive producers include Jordan Peele and the cast also includes Cedric the Entertainer.

Search Party stars Alia Shawkat, Meredith Hagner, John Early, John Reynolds and Brandon Micheal Hall and grew by double-digits in its second season, according to TBS, which also said it was the network's top series on digital and "became the fastest TBS original to reach one million views on VOD in season one."

TBS said executive producers Bliss and Rogers, who created the series with executive producer Michael Showalter, will continue to oversee Search Party while also developing and producing new projects exclusive to Turner in television and digital programming.
