The return of AMC's The Walking Dead and Prime Video's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel top the list of original programming premiering during the week leading into and through the Presidents' Day holiday.  

The Walking Dead returns from its season 11 mid-season break February 20. The zombie-themed series will end its 11th and final season later this year.

The Emmy-winning comedy The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel returns for its fourth season Feb. 18 on Prime Video. The series stars Rachel Brosnahan and Tony Shalhoub.

Netflix is offering a remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The movie, directed by Tobe Hooper and featuring villain Leatherface, premiered in 1974. Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre brings Leatherface back, and premieres February 18. 

Sarah Yarkin, Elsie Fisher, Jacob Latimore and Nell Hudson are in the cast. 

Four young characters head to remote Harlow, Texas to start a business. “But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents,” said Netflix. 

That includes Sally, the sole survivor in the original movie. 

The 1974 movie had Gunnar Hansen in several roles, including Leatherface. It was made on a shoestring budget but made big money at the box office, and ended up being an influential film in the horror genre.  

Netflix unveiled its 2022 movie slate earlier this week. ■

Syfy will air 600 hours of horror and thriller-themed programming as part of its 31 Days Of Halloween October programming stunt.

The network’s 7th annual spook-a-thon, which runs from Oct. 1-31, will feature such horror films as the remake of the as well aTexas Chainsaw Massacre s Shutter, said network officials.

On the original side, Syfy will premiere docuseries Town Of The Living Dead as well as the 200th episode of reality series Ghost Hunters. In addition, Syfy will premiere three original movies – Dark Haul, Dead Still and Finders Keepers -- during the month.
