The premieres of three high-profile cable TV franchises help usher in the month of November.

On Sunday (Nov. 7) Paramount Network brings back its top-rated series Yellowstone for a fourth season. The western-themed series stars Kevin Costner.

Also on Sunday, Showtime revives its classic drama series Dexter. The miniseries, Dexter: New Blood, finds former forensic technician/serial killer Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) returning as a shopkeeper in a small upstate New York town, trying hard to keep his former identity and murderous impulses in check.

Lifetime on Nov. 6 resurrects NBC's classic inspirational-themed show Highway to Heaven as a series of movies. Actress Jill Scott takes over the role of an angel who helps troubled people that was originally played by Michael Landon in the original 1980s version of the series.

Unscripted series dominate the list of shows premiering as the calendar turns to November. 

Nat Geo’s City So Real debuts Oct. 29 and looks at the contentious 2019 Chicago mayoral election, while HBO’s documentary The Soul of America looks at the United States’ current political and historical moment by examining its past.

On the scripted front, Disney Plus returns its Emmy-winning series The Mandalorian for a second season on Oct. 30.

Season two of cop drama L.A.’s Finest, starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba, is on Spectrum Originals Sept. 9. All 13 episodes will be available on that day, on demand. Jerry Bruckheimer and Sony Pictures Television produce the series. 

Season one of the show airs on Fox this fall. 

From the universe of Bruckheimer’s Bad Boys franchise, L.A.’s Finest centers on former DEA agent Sydney "Syd" Burnett (Union) and detective Nancy McKenna (Alba). In season two, Syd mourns the sudden loss of a friend and struggles to find answers, while McKenna must deal with the aftermath of Izzy’s kidnapping and the rift it has left in her marriage. 

Union and Alba executive produce alongside Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Brandon Margolis, Brandon Sonnier, Pam Veasey, Doug Belgrad, Jeff Gaspin, Jeff Morrone and Anton Cropper.

Drama Temple debuts on Spectrum Originals Oct. 26. There are eight episodes. A brilliant but haunted surgeon, Daniel Milton (Mark Strong), sacrifices everything for love when he opens an illegal medical clinic in the network of tunnels beneath London’s Temple subway station. When word of the clinic starts to spread among the criminal underworld, Daniel becomes entrenched in dangerous battles between life and death.

Mark Strong and Liza Marshall executive produce for Hera Pictures and Gabriel Silver exec produces for Sky. Temple is written and adapted by Mark O’Rowe from the Norwegian series Valkyrien. 

“Our strategy at Spectrum Originals has always been to carefully curate quality programming for our audience and serve as an entertainment destination,” said Katherine Pope, head of Spectrum Originals. “It’s going to be an action-packed fall, as fans and soon-to-be-fans of our flagship series L.A.’s Finest will be able to binge seasons one and two in their entirety, free and on demand. Then later in the fall we will drop all eight-episodes of the gripping series Temple lead by the wildly talented Mark Strong. ”

Spectrum Originals, the video-on-demand service for Charter Communications subscribers, continues its scripted drama rollout with the medical-themed limited series Temple. Originally developed by U.K. programmer Sky, Temple stars Mark Strong as Daniel Milton, a respected surgeon who is tormented by the sudden decline in health of his wife, Beth (Catherine McCormack). When all options to save her life fail, a distraught Daniel goes off the grid and establishes an illegal medical clinic underneath the Temple tube station in London.

Aided by his trusted but quirky assistant Lee Simmons (Daniel Mays), Daniel provides medical help to those unable — or, in the case of criminals, unwilling — to go to the hospital. The series kicks off with an action-packed sequence in which Jamie Harris, a young bank robber played by Tobi King Bakare, is shot in the stomach by a police officer he eventually runs over with his getaway car. Jamie contacts his friend Lee, who brings him to the underground clinic where Daniel reluctantly (and graphically) saves Jamie’s life by removing his bullet-ridden spleen.

In order to effectively operate on Jamie, Daniel lures his close friend and fellow doctor Anna Willems (Carice van Houten) to the underground clinic. The series then evolves into a characterdriven narrative in which the main characters are thrust into a world of crime and medicine. As the patient count increases, Daniel, Lee and Anna struggle to keep their illegal practice shrouded in secrecy while wrestling with the moral implications of their actions.

Temple, based on the Norwegian drama Valkyrien, is at times an edge-ofyour- seat thriller that takes viewers on an emotional rollercoaster over the course of eight episodes. Temple is the latest entry in Spectrum’s portfolio of original series, which also includes Bad Boys spinoff L.A.’s Finest and a Mad About You reboot.
