The animated stars of Teen Titans Go! will bring their take on the NBA All-Star weekend Slam dunk contest to Cartoon Network on Sunday Feb.19 at 5 p.m. ET.

The official Slam Dunk contest will air Saturday on TNT. The next  day, Cartoon Network Special Edition: NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest Presented by Jordan Brand, will appear, with basket’s embellished with toon touches and Robin, Raven, Beast Boy, Cyborg and Starfire providing commentary and scoring from the same studio where Inside the NBA is shot.

Other Cartoon Network characters will be involved in the special. Scooby-Doo and Velma will serve as sideline reporters and, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman will return this year to re-score the event’s most impressive dunks.

The NBA and Cartoon Network provided a similar show a year ago.

KJ Martin (Houston Rockets), Trey Murphy III (New Orleans Pelicans), Mac McClung (Philadelphia 76ers), and Jericho Sims (New York Knicks) will take flight in the 2023 AT&T Slam Dunk. Fans can watch the 72nd NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 19 on TNT. ■

Cartoon Network has renewed its animated series Teen Titans Go! for an eighth season and will premiere a feature film, Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse, this Memorial Day weekend, the network announced during its TCA Winter Press Tour presentation Monday.

The eighth season of Teen Titans Go!, produced by Warner Bros. Animation, will premiere later this year and will continue to expand the Teen Titans universe, said the network. The upcoming season will also mark the series’ 400th episode.

"The undeniable success of Teen Titans Go!, with its signature blend of action and subversive super hero humor, is a testament to the phenomenal work of executive producer Pete Michail and the show team,” Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios, said in a statement. “Seven seasons, one theatrical feature film, multiple specials, celebrity cameos and no end in sight, this show has carved out its own lane in the acclaimed legacy established by the original Teen Titans animated series."

In addition, the Teen Titans and DC Super Hero Girls will appear in a new theatrical movie, Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse, which will debut on Cartoon Network May 28 and on HBO Max June 28, said network officials. ■

Nike will present the half-hour special commercial free. 

WarnerMedia Kids & Family said Warner Bros. Animation is working with Turner Sports and the NBA. The result will be the Teen Titans—Robin, Raven, Beast Boy Cyborg and Starfire—providing their own comedic commentary on the dunkathon direct from TNT’s Inside the NBA studios.

The Cartoon Network Special Edition: NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest will appear less than 24 after the original full-length AT&T Slam Dunk Contest airs on TNT on Saturday night and just before the The NBA All-Star Game presented by Kia appears on TNT.

Cartoon Network will be running a Teen Titans Go! Marathon over All-Star weekend leading up to and following the special. The Super Hero weekend will culminate with a new episode of Teen Titans Go! titled The Drip on February 21 at 5 p.m. ET/PT. ■

Cartoon Network is working with Comcast to create special messages that fans of Teen Titans Go! can hear using the cable operator's X1 voice remote.

Comcast has been rolling out its new voice-powered remote that searches content and performs other functions via voice commands. Because rhe device could iinfluence what viewers wind up watching, some programmers are looking for ways to take advantage of it.

Working with Comcast, Cartoon has set things up so that when a viewer says, “Teen Titans Go!” “Boy Wonder!” “Pretty, Pretty Pegasus,” “Starfire and Silkie,” “Hello, Beastboy,” “Booyah, Buddy,” “Hello, Raven,” “Hello, Cyborg,” “Hello, Robin,” the remote plays back responses unique to the characters.

The voice commands went live Thursday (Oct. 22).
