Spike TV has named Ted Gold senior vice president, Scripted Original Series. Gold is the first to fill the newly-created position, which is responsible for overseeing the development and production of all of Spike's scripted programming. 

Gold joins Spike from his previous position as president of television and executive producer for Parkes+Macdonald/Universal Television, where he developed projects for HBO, Showtime, ABC, NBC, USA and Amazon. 

In his new role, Gold will report to Sharon Levy, executive vice president, Original Series. 

"Ted's eye for great material, strong relationships and competitive tenacity, makes him perfectly suited to lead our new scripted development team," said Levy in a release. "Ted will play an integral role on my team as we continue to create programming for our ever-broadening audience."
