MTV announced that Taylor Swift has received more nominations for the 2024 Video Music Awards than any other artist.

Swift is nominated again for video of the year, an award she’s won four times in the past, including the last two years.

Last year Swift led all nominees with eight. 

The VMAs are scheduled to be televised live from the UBS Arena in New York on Sept. 10 and well be seen in more than 150 countries.

Other artists receiving the most nominations include  Post Malone with nine noms, Ariana Grande, Eminem and Sabrina Carpenter (6 each); Megan Thee Stallion and SZA (5 each), LISA, Olivia Rodrigo and Teddy Swims (4 each). 

Official sponsors of the 2024 VMAs include Bacardi Rum, Burger King, Doritos,, Downy Unstopables, The General Insurance, Healthysexual from Gilead Sciences, Hilton, Kraft Mac & Cheese, Oreo cookies and Pantene.

Beginning Tuesday, fans can vote for their favorites across 15 gender-neutral categories, including Video of the Year, presented by Burger King; Best Collaboration; and Artist of the Year by visiting vote.mtv.com through Friday, August 30th. Voting is sponsored by The General insurance.

Voting for Best New Artist will remain active throughSeptember 10th. 

Last year’s telecast drew 3.92 million total viewers across the night and registered increases in all demos, including a 54% increase among young people 18 to 34.

Disney Plus has made a deal promoting Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour Film in Roku City, the purple screen saver where the streaming platform highlights popular programming.

The screensaver highlights Swift’s tour bus, while a full-blown promo highlights that the concert is available to stream on Disney Plus. 

“As the TV streaming ecosystem continues to become more crowded, brands are searching for innovative ways to connect with viewers. Roku wants to give brands like Disney Plus the unique opportunity to connect with viewers for a more enjoyable streaming experience on the largest screen in the home,” Roku said.

Not all Roku users were enchanted by the latest addition to Roku City.

On Roku’s channels and viewing page, a number of Roku users called the Swifty theme on the home screen obnoxious and shared tips for turning off the screen saver.

The 66th Annual Grammy Awards averaged 16.9 million viewers, up 34% from last year, and the largest Grammys audience since 2020, CBS reported. CBS and Paramount Plus aired the event, which happened February 4 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. 

Trevor Noah hosted. Presenters included Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, Lionel Richie and Lenny Kravitz, and the performers included Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, SZA, Billy Joel, Joni Mitchell and U2, the latter performing at the Sphere in Las Vegas and then presenting best pop vocal album. 

That Grammy went to Taylor Swift for her album Midnights. Swift stepped to the podium and announced that her next album, The Tortured Poets Department, comes out in April. 

The Grammys were on from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. 

Ratings peaked in the 9:45 p.m. quarter hour, with 18.25 million viewers watching the In Memoriam segment, with performances by Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox, Jon Batiste and Fantasia Barrino. 

Live viewership on Paramount Plus grew 173% from last year. 

Other highlights included Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs performing “Fast Car,” Jay-Z getting the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, and Celine Dion making a surprise appearance as she battles a rare neurological disorder, then presenting album of the year to Swift. 

Ratings for The 65th Annual Grammy Awards a year ago grew 30% from the previous year. The 2022 Grammys had shifted to April amidst concerns over COVID-19 and moved to Las Vegas. The 2021 Grammys were held outdoors due to the pandemic. 

Taylor Swift, with her billion-dollar The Eras Tour and her high-profile relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce, was the most watched artist in the U.S. on Vevo, the music-video service announced.

Swift generated 649.5 million views in 2023, with videos including “All Too Well: The Short Film,” “cardigan” and “Fifteen” all seeing big jumps.

Lil Baby was No. 2 in the U.S. with 612.7 million views and Karol G was third, followed by Morgan Wallen and Drake.

Swift was third on the global charts with 4 billion views.

Globally, Karol G was the most viewed artist with 4.7 billion views. She was followed on the global charts by Shakira and Swift, with The Weeknd in fourth and Feid in fifth.

The MTV Video Music Awards went down at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey September 12, and saw Taylor Swift rack up several awards, lively performances from Olivia Rodrigo, Diddy and Shakira, among many others, and a celebration of 50 years of hip-hop near the end that featured LL Cool J, Grandmaster Flash and Nicki Minaj, among other rap icons. 

Swift picked up Video of the Year for “Anti-Hero”, Song of the Year for “Anti-Hero”, Best Direction for the same song, Artist of the Year, and a few other moon-person trophies. 

Swift got her first award of the night, for best video, from the NSYNC guys, and was a bit awestruck by the men she shared the stage with. “I had your dolls!” she exclaimed.  

It is quite a production at the Prudential Center, with the awards and speeches going down on the main moon-man stage, and two oval stages on either side of the moon-man one. Bruce Gillmer and Den of Thieves co-founder Jesse Ignjatovic exec produce the event. 

Stagehands would scramble to set up the next act, often with dancers and performers taking their places and waiting patiently on a side stage, with all eyes on the main stage. In one instance, Karol G and two dozen dancers sat quietly on a tiered side stage as the Brazilian performer Anitta got an award on the main stage. 

Nicki Minaj hosted the monster 3 1/2 hour-plus event. Besides airing on MTV, the VMAs were on BET, CMT, MTV 2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, VH1, TV Land and other Paramount networks. 

Getting the moon-person statuette for Song of the Year, Swift spoke about her love of songwriting, and feeling as if she was all alone in her “insecurity and self-loathing” as she wrote, then seeing the songs and lyrics connect with the masses onstage. 

“Maybe we all have the same issues,” she said she came to realize. 

Wyclef Jean then stepped out to introduce Shakira, who got the Video Vanguard award. Shakira was electric, using all three stages as she performed a medley. She even took a guitar solo, then finished things off with a dance involving a couple sharp knives. 

Diddy then made his first VMAs appearance in almost two decades. Introduced by Mary J. Blige, he made it a family event, performing alongside son King and twin daughters D’Lila and Jessie. 

Diddy got the Global Icon Award. “I gotta thank God — that’s my secret weapon,” he said. 

Diddy shared about being a paperboy growing up, then thinking he’d play pro football until he broke his leg and getting more into music. “God made another choice for me,” he said. 

Just before he stepped offstage, Diddy shared that he’s got a new album coming out. “I’m a hustler,” he conceded. 

Just when I’d finally grasped the three-stage concept of the event, Peso Pluma set up on a fourth stage, a small, round one set up temporarily in the center of the floor. A full band, including strings and standup bass, backed him up. 

After Peso Pluma was the K-Pop act Stray Kids, which sent the young women seated near us bonkers. They came equipped with the lollipop-style handheld lights that are apparently the norm at K-Pop shows. 

The show finally had a bit of rock ‘n’ roll when Fall Out Boy played their update of Billy Joel’s history lesson “We Didn’t Start the Fire” — sample line “Unabomber, Bobbitt, John, bombing Boston Marathon” — from an outdoor stage. The Roman rockers Maneskin, winners of the Best Rock VMA, continued the rock vibe with an explosive performance, before country star Kelsea Ballerini played. 

Speaking of history lessons, it was finally time  for the 50 years of hip-hop finale, with DMC, Doug E. Fresh, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Lil Wayne, LL Cool J and Minaj sharing the stage for a lively 10-minute performance that the crowd adored. It ended with all the performers onstage for “Walk This Way”, a salute to MTV’s earlier days.

Disney Plus said it will be streaming exclusively a new concert film from Taylor Swift.

The film, folklore: the long pond studio sessions will premiere Nov. 25 on Disney Plus.

The film features Swift with Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff and a Guest Appearance by Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) performing and telling stories and revealing secrets from the making of Swift’s Album of the Year, folklore.

ABC will air a Taylor Swift concert special Sunday, May 17, following the season finale of American Idol. Taylor Swift City of Lover Concert airs in the 10 p.m. ET slot. It will be on demand May 18 on Hulu and Disney+.

Filmed last September at L’Olympia Theater in Paris, France, Swift performs songs from her album “Lover.”

Swift released “Lover,” her seventh album, in 2019.

Justin Bieber, Adele, Jennifer Garner, Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande are just a few of entertainment's biggest stars nominated for Kids’ Choice Awards, Nickelodeon announced Tuesday.

Country music star Blake Shelton will host Nick’s March 12 live telecast of the 2016 Kids Choice Awards, which will reveal the winners across 22 categories representing film and television, according to the network. Kids can vote for their favorite stars on Nickelodeon’s digital platforms including Nick.com as well as from the Nick app on iPad, iPhone, Kindle, and select Android devices.

ABC’s Modern Family and CBS’ The Big Bang Theory four nominations each, while music stars Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez drew three nominations each, according to the kids-targeted network.

MTV’s Aug. 30 Video Music Awards hit a sour note, according to most industry observers, posting a double-digit ratings decline from its 2014 version.

The show, once among cable’s biggest audience draws of the summer, averaged only 5 million viewers in its live run on MTV, down from the 8.2 million viewers the extravaganza generated last year.

That’s a major drop even in an environment where most cable shows and networks are losing audiences.

But the Miley Cyrus-hosted show struck a positive chord with the network’s target millennial audience on social media, where those viewers talk about the content they most want to see.

Performances, speeches and word wars by the likes of Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd and Justin Bieber – not to mention Kanye West’s 2020 presidential bid proclamation – helped drive a record 21.3 million tweets around the show, according to Nielsen’s Twitter TV ratings.

Clips from the VMAs drew more than 100 million loops on millennial-dominated online video-sharing service Vine and generated 64 million interactions on Instagram, where young people gravitate to discuss and view things that most interest them.

Unfortunately for MTV, the current content advertising distribution model – including accurate multiplatform audience measurements – have not caught up to the continued migration of viewers accessing and watching content on non-traditional platforms; otherwise, we might be viewing the performance of the Video Music Awards in a different light.

Some observers believe the MTV VMAs are no longer relevant given the show's declining ratings. But it just might be that traditional TV is no longer relevant to the VMAs or its audience.

Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards was a big hit in social media, but not so much on traditional TV.

The Miley Cyrus-hosted live event generated 5 million viewers for MTV, down from the 8.2 million viewers the show generated in 2014, according to Nielsen.

The show, which featured performances from Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Justin Beiber and Demi Lovato, was also down in key demos, including 18-49 (3.2 million in 2015 vs. 5.2 million in 2014) and 18-34 (2.2 million vs. 3.7 million), according to Nielsen.

The 10-network simulcast of the live event drew a combined 9.8 million viewers, compared to 10.3 million viewers across four networks in 2014, according to Nielsen.

But those who watched the show were very chatty on social media. The show, which also included Kanye West’s announcement that he will run for president in 2020, drew more than 21.3 million Tweets reached 11.8 million unique Twitter users, the most non-sports program since Nielsen began tracking Twitter TV activity in October 2011.

Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran drew the lion’s share of MTV Video Music Awards nominations, the network announced Tuesday.

Beyoncé’s 7/11, Swift’s Bad Blood and Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud will vie for “Video of The Year,” one of several musical categories featured as part of the annual VMA telecast, which will air Aug. 30 on MTV.

The awards, hosted by Miley Cyrus, will also feature new categories such as “MTV Artist to Watch” presented by Taco Bell, and “Video with a Social Message.”

Voting is currently available at www.vma.mtv.com. The VMA’s will be sponsored by Clean and Clear, Covergirl, Orbit Gum, Pepsi, Samsung Galaxy, State Farm, Taco Bell, Trojan Brand Condoms and truth.

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, who traded punches in the boxing ring for less than an hour on pay-per-view last month, topped Forbes Magazine's list of the highest paid celebrities for 2015.

Mayweather finished first on the list, earning a whopping $300 million over the last  2 months – most of it derived from his May 2, majority decision win over Pacquiao in the most lucrative pay-per-view boxing match ever. Pacquiao for his part finished second on the list with $160 million, according to Forbes.

The Mayweather-Pacquiao fight generated more than $400 million in PPV revenue from more than 4.4 million PPV buys.

Other celebrities making the Top 10 list include Katie Perry, One Direction, Howard Stern, Garth Brooks, James Patterson, Robert Downey Jr., Taylor Swift and soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Forbes. 

Taylor Swift can add inaugaral "MC Icon" to her list of accolades.

Music Choice will celebrate the singer-songwriter from March 17 through April 19 by screening all things Swift. Her MC Icon status pays tribute to the relationship she has had with the programmer's viewers since she debuted on Music Choice in 2006.

Swift's music videos, including her current hit “Style,” have generated some 85 million views on Music Choice On Demand and Music Choice Play.  On MC Video On Demand, Taylor reigned as the No.1 country artist for seven years straight, from 2006 to 2013.  Her songs currently play on 15 different music channels– 30% of Music Choice’s service. Her lyrics and melodies crossed over from country to pop and her worldwide success led Music Choice to create the hybrid music channel, Pop Country, in 2013.

“Music Choice has had its own ‘Love Story’ with Taylor Swift,” said Damon Williams, vice president of programming, Music Choice. “We knew she was special from the moment we first met her in 2006 and we are thankful to her and Big Machine Records for letting Music Choice and our viewers get a front row seat on her journey to success.”

Ariana Grande, One Direction,Taylor Swift and Fifth Harmony are among the music artists nominated for the 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards, Disney executives said.

Grande as well as Taylor were nominated in the Best Female Artist category, while British boy band One Direction and girl group Fifth Harmony drew nods for Best Music Group, according to Disney. Winners will be announced at the 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards on April 25,  with a 90-minute television special originating from the event to be presented April 26 on Disney Channel. 

Fans can vote for the winners on Disney's Radio Disney Music Awards site, as well as through the Radio Disney app and via Radio Disney's Facebook and Twitter social media sites.

Entertainment legend Barbara Streisand will get her own SiriusXM Satellite Radio channel this Friday, appropriately named The Barbra Streisand Channel, which will exclusively feature the works of the Grammy, Oscar, Emmy and Tony award-winning artist.

The limited-run channel will launch on Sept. 12 at 5:00 pm ET and will run through Friday, Oct. 10, via satellite on Sirius channel 69 and XM channel 73. The Barbra Streisand Channel will also be available online on channel 69 and through the SiriusXM Internet Radio App.

Sirius XM is controlled by Liberty Media.

The channel will feature music spanning Streisand's legendary career, from her 1963 debut through her newest album, Partners, scheduled to be released on Sept. 16. The channel will be fully dedicated to Barbra Streisand's extensive body of work and will include selections from her live and studio recordings. The channel will also include Streisand's personal song selections from her catalog, spanning 50 years.

The Barbra Streisand Channel will also feature an exclusive "Town Hall" special with the entertainer. Streisand will sit down for a Q&A session with a select group of listeners in the SiriusXM studios in New York. Moderated by her longtime colleague, music industry executive Jay Landers, "SiriusXM's Town Hall with Barbra Streisand" will air on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 12:00 pm ET on The Barbra Streisand Channel.
