CBS said it renewed nine more series for the 2023-24 season.

The series coming back next season are 60 Minutes, CSI: Vegas, NCIS: Hawai’i, Survivor, The Amazing Race, Tough as Nails, Lingo and 48 Hours.

Earlier, CBS had renewed Fire Country, Young Sheldon, Ghosts, The Neighborhood, Bob Hearts Abishola, So Help Me Todd, The Equalizer, FBI, FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted.

CBS also said it has given an early series order to The Never Game, a new drama starring Justin Hartley of This Is Us.

“This season, CBS is continuing its winning tradition, delivering an unparalleled combination of top returning series and new hit shows that are entertaining huge audiences on both broadcast and streaming,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said. “It is a testament to the stellar work being done by our best-in-class talent in front of and behind the camera that we have had yet another exceptional season, and I know we will only continue to build on this foundation of outstanding programming as we look ahead toward next fall.” ■

Netflix has renewed The Lincoln Lawyer for season two, which will have 10 episodes. It will be based on the fourth book in the series by Michael Connelly, titled The Fifth Witness. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo returns as Mickey Haller. Neve Campbell (Maggie McPherson), Becki Newton (Lorna), Jazz Raycole (Izzy) and Angus Sampson (Cisco) are returning as well. 

Dailyn Rodriguez joins the series as co-showrunner and executive producer. Ted Humphrey, who developed The Lincoln Lawyer alongside creator David E. Kelley, returns as co-showrunner/executive producer. 

The show premiered May 13. It’s about lawyer Mickey Haller, who runs his law practice out of his Lincoln automobile. Season one was based on the Connelly novel The Brass Verdict. 

Kelley, Humphrey, Connelly and Rodriguez executive produce with Ross Fineman, Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson. A+E Studios produces the show. ■

Apple TV Plus has renewed thriller Severance. Dan Erickson created the show and Ben Stiller is executive producer and director. Severance began in February and the season one finale arrives April 8. 

“Thanks to creator Dan Erickson, the brilliant Ben Stiller, and an incomparable cast and crew, Severance has imagined an existence that‘s equal parts riveting and enthralling as viewers around the globe can’t get enough of these rich characters,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV Plus. “We’re excited to go deeper into this wholly unique world and unpack more layers of Lumon in season two.”

The show details Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leading a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This experiment in “work-life balance” is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of a mystery that will force him to confront some tricky topics. 

“It’s really exciting to see the response from people who are loving the show—and the level of fan engagement,” said Stiller. “It has been a long road bringing Severance to television. I first read Dan’s pilot over five years ago. It has always been a multi-season story, and I’m really happy we get to continue it. I’m grateful to our partners at Apple TV Plus, who have been behind it the whole way. Praise Keir!”

Patricia Arquette, John Turturro and Christopher Walken are also in the cast.

The series is written and created by Erickson. Mark Friedman, Chris Black, John Cameron and Andrew Colville are executive producers alongside Erickson. Stiller, Nicky Weinstock and Jackie Cohn executive produce through Red Hour Productions.

Syfy said it had given a two-season final order for space drama Killjoys ahead of tonight's third-season finale and it also cancelled, without a press release, the space drama Dark Matter after three seasons.

Dark Matter showrunner and creator Joseph Mallozzi announced his show's cancellation in a blog post and on Twitter "with great sadness" Friday afternoon. "To say that I’m incredibly disappointed would be an understatement," Mallozzi, whose past credits include three Stargate TV series on Syfy, said on his blog, thanking fans for support and adding, "You all deserved better."

Fans of Killjoys, meanwhile, received a reprieve in the form of a 20-episode order to Temple Street, a unit of Boat Rocker Studios, and Syfy corporate sibling Universal Cable Productions. Creator Michelle Lovretta is executive producer with Karen Troubetzkoy and Temple Street’s David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg. Season four will air in 2018. The show also airs on Space in Canada. Universal Cable Productions distributes the show worldwide except in Canada, where the series airs on Space.

“Helmed by Lovretta and driven by the superb storytelling, we are excited to bring Killjoys back for two final seasons,” Bill McGoldrick, executive VP of scripted development for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, said in a release. “Tonight’s game-changing season finale sets the tone for the final chapters of our bounty hunter’s space adventures and we cannot wait for our talented cast and crew to bring to life what is sure to be an epic journey that will leave our passionate fans on the edge of their seats.”

In the release, Lovretta said: "This renewal is the kind of privilege every creator hopes for – a chance to plan the end of your story with the luxury of 20-episodes to do it. I’m immensely grateful that both of our network partners -- along with Temple Street and UCP -- have given our team, cast and fans this incredible opportunity.”

Earlier, Syfy had given a third-season renewal to Wynonna Earp, the third show in a Friday-night scripted block on the NBCUniversal-owned network.

Mallozzi, who also was executive producer (with longtime collaborator Paul Mullie) of Dark Matter, had been campaigning on social media for a fourth-season renewal, citing among other things the show's audience growth in delayed viewing over three to seven days and a popular cast. In recent weeks, he'd noted the show was Syfy's top scripted series in overnight viewing. Dark Matter's third season ended last Friday (Aug. 25).  

"I’ll save my comments and field your questions in a future blog entry," Mallozzi, whose Twitter handle is @BaronDestructo, said. "For today, I just want to extend a heartfelt thanks to my amazing crew, my wonderful cast, and to all of you, our incredible fans."

He also congratulated Killjoys and said "wish we were going with you!"

Cast members Anthony Lemke, Zoie Palmer, Jodelle Ferland and Alex Mallari Jr. also posted notes to fans.

A Syfy spokeswoman said the network would not comment officially on Dark Matter's fate.

Two Scripps Networks outlets are bolstering their real-estate programming, giving a third-season order to Egypt Sherrod-hosted Flipping Virgins on HGTV and scheduling a Tuesday, July 11 (10 p.m. ET/PT) debut for Rustic Renovation on DIY.

Flipping Virgins has property ace Sherrod guiding novice house-flippers through the vagaries of buying, renovating and selling homes, and it will return for 13 more episodes, HGTV said.

Rustic Renovation features a pair of brothers, Chase and Brock Jurgensen, a licensed contractor and talented woodworker, respectively, taking run-down family cabins in Minnesota and turning them into stylish living spaces with rustic charm. (Scripps networks have a thing for brothers as hosts.) The first episode sees the brothers renovating a 1950s era lakeside cabin that's been the same family for four generations.

Turner’s TNT and TBS gave greenlights to six new series as it head into its upfront presentation Wednesday.

The networks are being rebranded and 100% of the series that were put on the air last year by Kevin Reilly, president of TBS and TNT and chief creative officer for Turner Entertainment, were renewed.

TBS’s new series are: Miracle Workers, a Heaven-set workplace comedy starring Daniel Radcliffe and Owen Wilson and executive-produced by Lorne Michaels; Close Enough, a brand-new animated series from Regular Show creator J.G. Quintel; An update of of the classic game show The Joker's Wild, hosted by Snoop Dogg; and a new untitled series from the comedy trio The Dress Up Gang.

TNT has greenlit two non-fiction series: Michael Moore Live From the Apocalypse from Oscar and Emmy winner Michael Moore; and 
Who Run the World? from Sarah Jessica Parker, Morgan Spurlock and Refinery29.

TNT is working with Ridley Scott to develop a night of original science-fiction programming. Initial plans call for the block to serve as a showcase for hour-long series, short-form programs and other formats to be developed in collaboration with Scott.

TNT has also ordered a pilot for Highland, a scripted drama written by Liz Sarnoff and starring actress-comedian Margaret Cho; and Daveed Diggs, who earned a Tony for the Broadway hit Hamilton, will star in the network's drama pilot Snowpiercer.

Starz has given its blessing to a second season of fantasy drama series American Gods, the network said Thursday.

The series, which follows an epic battle between traditional Old Gods and New Gods, averaged a network series best 975,000 viewers (Live+SD) for the April 30 premiere and a network record 1.5 million viewers in Nielsen Live+7 ratings, per Starz. Overall the episode has garnered more than 5 million multiplatform viewers to-date, according to Starz.

The series is produced by FremantleMedia North America and executive-produced by Bryan Fuller, Michael Green, Craig Cegielski, Stefanie Berk, Adam Kane and Neil Gaiman.

“Bryan Fuller, Michael Green and Neil Gaiman have evolved the art form of television narratively, structurally and graphically with American Gods, and we’re thrilled to be working again with these artists as they continue to build the worlds and wars of the gods,” Carmi Zlotnik, president of programming for Starz, said in a release.

AMC said it has ordered a fourth and final (10-episode) season of American Revolution-era drama series Turn: Washington's Spies, to air in 2017.

AMC said the show performed well among affluent audiences and that the third season wrapped with four successive weeks of ratings growth, "increasingly rare in today's environment." Overall the third season averaged 1.2 million viewers per episode and nearly 600,000 in the 25-54 age bracket.

Craig Silverstein, the spy-ring drama's executive producer and showrunner, has renewed an overall two-year development agreement with AMC for season four and to develop new projects for the programmer. Silverstein said in a release, in part, “I am so pleased to be able to bring the story of the Culper Ring to its epic conclusion, at the point where the revolutionary war ends and the great American experiment truly begins.”

AMC's Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV, said in the release that the series "has always had a lofty goal -- to tell the real story of the American Revolution from the ground up. To capture the truth about the choice regular people had to make to support what has become the United States of America. It frequently involved turning against friends and family, and it always involved risking everything. Craig Silverstein, Barry Josephson, and their incredible team introduced us to the Culper Ring who have reminded us that without human intelligence, the war may have had a very different outcome. We are excited to see this story of betrayal and rebellion, and the sacrifices therein, through to completion in a fourth season.” 

Travel Channel said it has ordered an 11th season of Don Wildman-hosted Mysteries at the Museum. The network said the current, 10th season premiered on April 7 (9 p.m. ET) with an episode that surpassed season-nine averages among viewers ages 25-54 (up 26%) and among women ages 25-54 (up 38%). 

“Don is an incredible story teller so we’ll keep all the great stories that are at the show’s core but, fans of the series will find that the upcoming season amps up the fun, is a bit lighter and has shorter segments that are easier to digest,” Courtney White, senior vice president, programming and production, at Travel Channel, said in a release. “Mysteries at the Museum scratches that curiosity itch for viewers – giving them a roadmap so they can travel to discover the fascinating tales behind the world’s hidden treasures.”

Travel Channel said it has ordered a third season of Josh Gates-hosted Expedition Unknown, to air on the Scripps Networks outlet later this year. The channel reported that ratings for the current season (Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT) are 143% ahead of its time slot's average a year ago among persons ages 25 to 54 and also has more than doubled results in other key demographics including 183% for women ages 25 to 54.  

Gates, who also is an executive producer on the show, journeys around the world in search of answers to some of the world’s most fascinating and iconic legends and stories. 

“As one of the network’s highest-rated programs, Expedition Unknown has shaped a strong and successful Wednesday night for Travel Channel,”  Courtney White, senior vice president, programming and production, at Travel Channel said in a release. “Like Andrew Zimmern and Jack Maxwell, Josh Gates resonates with our fans – with over 5.4 million people tuning in each week to join him on his worldwide adventures. This season, we’re upping the ante with bold, ambitious adventures and mission-driven storytelling – you can’t help but get hooked.”

PASADENA, Calif. — Comedy Central has picked up additional seasons of Inside Amy Schumer and Broad City, the network said Wednesday at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour.

Inside Amy Schumer was renewed for season five, while Broad City was given a fourth and fifth season.

Season four of Inside Amy Schumer will premiere in April.

Broad City returns to the network for its third season Feb. 17.

SundanceTV said it has ordered a fourth season of critically praised drama Rectify, just ahead of the series season premiere Thursday (July 9) at 10 p.m. The fourth season will premiere sometime in 2016, the network said, and an exact episode count for the new season has yet to be determined.

“Even in an increasingly crowded field of dramas on television, Rectify has established itself as something special,” Charlie Collier, president of AMC and SundanceTV, said in a release. “What Ray McKinnon, this incredible cast and everyone associated with the show have been able to achieve is remarkable, and we are so pleased to usher in this third season with an order for a fourth. Rectify has had such a huge impact in establishing SundanceTV as a home for high-quality, intelligent drama. We are excited to continue this important partnership with Ray and the entire team.”

Rectify, which recently won a Peabody Award, is about a man, Daniel Holden (Aden Young, pictured), a convicted murderer who is released from prison on DNA evidence after serving 19 years on death row and his attempts to adjust to "normal" life in his Georgia hometown. 

An AMC recap: Season three of the hour-long drama picks up where season two left off, on the afternoon of Daniel’s plea deal. Will the deal be accepted? Will Daniel be forced to leave town? And when the body of a missing person is discovered, law enforcement once again turns to him for answers. As Daniel's sister Amantha (Abigail Spencer) attempts to live her own life, she is given an opportunity at a local store that for the first time in a long time has nothing to do with her brother. Meanwhile, Tawney (Adelaide Clemens) and Ted Jr. (Clayne Crawford) struggle to see if their marriage has a future. Janet (J. Smith Cameron) and Ted Sr. (Bruce McKinnon), also under pressure from Daniel’s actions, will find that their marriage is put to the test as well.

Rectify was created and written by Writers Guild Award-nominated Ray McKinnon, who executive produces, along with Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein.

This post-July-4 week has been a big one for cable-network series renewals, including ones at Comedy Central (South Park), Cartoon Network (Adventure Time and four other series), USA Network (Chrisley Knows Best), Lifetime (UnREAL) and Oxygen (The Prancing Elites Project). 

Comedy Central said iconic animated series South Park has been renewed for three additional seasons, another 30 episodes. That will take the show through 23 seasons, a record for a primetime scripted cable episodes, the Viacom-owned network said. Trey Parker and Matt Stone will continue to write, direct and edit every episode, the network said. South Park's 19th season debuts on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

This post-July-4 week has been a big one for cable-network series renewals, including ones at Cartoon Network (Adventure Time and four other series), USA Network (Chrisley Knows Best), Lifetime (UnREAL) and Oxygen (The Prancing Elites Project). A week ago, E! renewedBotched.
