Ash vs Evil Dead will not see a fourth season on Starz. Season three of the horror/comedy series started February 25, and the series finale will air April 29.  

Bruce Campbell, who plays Ash, described the series to B&C as “an extremely well regarded, low-rated show.”

Campbell said episodes 9 and 10 are like a movie, and were set up to wrap up the series’ stories in case the show was not renewed.

“You never know if you’re coming back or not,” Campbell said. “We never want to put Evil Dead fans in that situation.”

Campbell is an executive producer, along with Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Ivan Raimi and Rick Jacobson. Mark Verheiden is executive producer and showrunner.

Raimi created the Evil Dead film franchise from which the series was hatched.

OWN’s long-running docu/reality series Welcome To Sweetie Pie’s will end its run after the upcoming fifth season, the network said Monday.

The series, which follows the lives of a family-operated soul food empire, will premiere its fifth season with a May 1 special sneak preview. The series will resume its run on Saturdays beginning May 5, said network officials.

Welcome To Sweetie Pie’s will end with its 100 episode on June 9, followed by a special one-hour after show hosted by comedian/actress Kym Whitley. Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s ranks as the second most watched original Saturday-night series in OWN history, according to the network.

“For nearly seven years, our viewers have fallen in love and followed an incredible journey with Miss Robbie, Tim and the whole family,” said Erik Logan, president, OWN in a statement. “It comes with immense gratitude and appreciation as we send off the series for its final season and make OWN history celebrating 100 memorable episodes.”

Cartoon Network’s Regular Show will enter its final season this fall.

Created by JG Quintel, Regular Show’s eighth season will take place entirely in space. The season starts Sept. 26 and concludes in January.

Regular Show has followed the lives of best friends and groundskeepers Mordecai (voiced by Quintel) and Rigby (William Salyers), whose lazy afternoon escapades are interrupted by misadventures with their gang of friends.

“From JG’s original pitch on Post-it notes, through eight successful seasons and more than 250 episodes produced, Regular Show has been one of the most original animated series of this generation, creating indelible characters and signature comedy mayhem laced with heart,” said Cartoon Network chief content officer Rob Sorcher.

Pretty Little Liars’ seventh season, premiering in April 2017, will be the drama’s last, Freeform announced Monday (Aug. 29).

The last 10 episodes will conclude with a two-hour finale. The finale will be followed by the premiere of Famous In Love, a new series from Liars creator and showrunner I. Marlene King.

The news was announced during a Facebook Live interview with King and Liars cast members Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell and Sasha Pieterse.

The summer finale of Liars airs Tuesday on Freeform.

Showtime Monday said it will end its Emmy-nominated comedy series Episodes after its upcoming fifth season.

The series, starring Matt LeBlanc playing a fictional version of himself, will launch a seven-episode fifth season premiering in 2017, said network officials. The series, created by David Crane and Jeffrey Klarik, has received 10 Primetime Emmy nominations over its first four seasons. Production begins in London next week; Klarik will direct the final seven episodes, Showtime said.

“Episodes’ scathing portrait of network executives has kept me on my best behavior these last several years, for which I am grudgingly grateful to Jeffrey and David,” said Gary Levine, president of programming, Showtime Networks Inc. “I love this show and can’t wait to see what comic heights Matt and company will scale during the fifth and final season of our inspired series.”

Episodes also stars Stephen Mangan, Tamsin Greig, Mircea Monroe, Kathleen Rose Perkins and John Pankow. Here's the final season description: "Everyone is in the midst of their own personal hell -- if hell can have great weather, palm trees and more than one personal assistant. Matt LeBlanc is the host of The Box, a wildly successful game show. Unfortunately, the world seems to have forgotten he was ever an actor. Meanwhile, Sean (Mangan) and Beverly (Greig) are forced to work for Sean’s former partner Tim (Bruce Mackinnon), perhaps the worst show runner in the history of television. When the final curtain falls Sept. 19 on Sábado Gigante, one of Spanish-language television's most iconic programs, host Don Francisco — aka Mario Kreutzberger — will certainly be missed.

Kreutzberger will also miss entertaining generations of viewers who have enjoyed his kitschy variety show since The Ed Sullivan Show commanded top ratings.

In an interview with Miami TV station WPLG, the Chile-born Kreutzberger said he’ll miss "everything" associated with his role as Don Francisco, and that he's going out on a high.

"We have high ratings, we're doing a good program, and I think this is the right moment to close Sábado Gigante and open a new life," Kreutzberger told Victor Oquendo, a reporter for the ABC affiliate, on Sept. 11.  

Update: Univision has confirmed that Hispanic entertainment heavyweights including Shakira, Enrique Iglesias, Juanes, Marc Anthony, Prince Royce and Gloria Estefan will appear on the September 19 finale.

He also offered fans a hint that his visage may not be disappearing from the small screen anytime soon.

"I'm not retiring and I don't think I have to retire ... That would damage my mind and my health," he said. "I am so used to communication with the audience, even though I don't see them, I feel them and I need them."

The comments are intriguing, as Telemundo saluted Kreutzberger by presenting him an award as an icon for his work on Sábado Gigante — despite its long-time presence on its top competitor, Univision.

Such honors are an extreme rarity in Hispanic media, let alone English-language media. Telemundo Network president Luis Silberwasser would not comment when asked by Hispanic Television Update if Don Francisco could appear, even if only occasionally, on the forthcoming Saturday-night variety show ¡Que Noche!.

Officially, Kreutzberger will continue working for Univision on specials and promotional campaigns. He will also continue to host TeletonUSA, an annual pledge show that raises money for disabled children.

Meanwhile, New York City on Sept. 8 saluted Kreutzberger by renaming a section of a street in Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood as “Don Francisco Boulevard.”

Later that day, The Paley Center for Media hosted a special Q&A session with Kreutzberger; Lili Estefan, host of Univision's weekday entertainment news program El Gordo y La Flaca; and Entertainment Tonight reporter Nina Terrero, reflecting on the host's 53 years in television.

Univision also donated a collection of specially curated Sábado Gigante episodes to the Paley Center’s permanent archives. They represent some of the series’ most important episodes and include classic performances and interviews with world leaders.

Sábado Gigante is certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest running variety show in television history, with more than 2,600 episodes aired.

Some 3 million people witnesses saw HBO shut down its prohibition-era drama, Boardwalk Empire, on Sunday night.

The premium network bid adieu to Steve Buscemi’s Nucky Thompson on Oct. 26 with 2.3 million tuning in the series’ finale at 9 p.m., according to Nielsen data. That was up 7% from last year’s season finale.

Tacking on watchers from encore installments, Boardwalk closed its final original night with 3 million viewers.

During its final stroll, Boardwalk Empire averaged a gross audience of 6.6 million viewers per episode across encores and digital airings.
