Disney Channel has greenlit a sequel to its 2000’s Wizard of Waverly Place series with the show’s original stars David Henrie and Selena Gomez returning to the kids-targeted franchise.

The new series, Wizards, follows Henrie’s character Justin Russo as an adult with a family who gets drawn back into the Wizard World to mentor a young, powerful wizard, according to Disney. Gomez returns in the premiere episode to reprise her role as Justin’s sister Alex. 

The original Wizard of Waverly Place series aired on Disney Channel from 2007-2012.

Also starring in the Wizards series are Max Matenko, Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele and Mimi Gianopulos. The series is executive produced by Gomez, Henrie, Jed Elinoff, Scott Thomas and Gary Marsh.

“Wizards of Waverly Place captivated hearts with its spellbinding adventures and big laughs, creating unforgettable memories for kids and families everywhere,” Disney Branded Television President Ayo Davis said in a statement. “We can’t wait to step back into the magical world of Wizards, inviting both longtime fans and a new generation to experience the enchantment alongside Selena, David, and our incredible cast and crew.” 

Only Murders in The Building star Selena Gomez opens up about her mental heath issues in a new trailer for Apple TV Plus's documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me, debuting November 4.

The trailer, released on World Mental Health Day in support of global mental health education and awareness, showcases the actress/singer/entertainer's own mental health journey over a six-year span, according to Apple TV.

Gomez's series Only Murders in the Building, which also stars Martin Short and Steve Martin, was nominated for a 2022 Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series.

AT&T's HBO Max said it has renewed Selena Gomez’s cooking show for a second season.

In Selena + Chef, the musician and actress prepares dishes while quarantined in her home with the help and advice of top-flight chefs. 

The chefs also highlight different charities each episode.

“We are thrilled to continue the culinary fun of watching Selena in the kitchen on HBO Max. From her chemistry with each master chef to those colorful knives in the first season, we can’t wait to see what delicious surprises she has in store for season two,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max.

The final four episodes of season one dropped today (Aug. 27) on HBO Max. In those shows, Gomez whips up dishes including Baja-style fried rice, buttermilk fried chicken, fried gnocchi and meatballs with brown butter sauce, pan seared Branzino with spiced tomato-coconut sauce, and even dog treats – Ginger’s peanut butter bacon dog biscuits.

“Learning from some of the best chefs in the world has vastly improved my cooking skills but I have a lot more to learn. I am looking forward to challenging myself in the kitchen on the next season,” said Gomez.

The series is executive produced by Gomez for July Moon Productions, along with executive producers Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman, and Leah Hariton on behalf of Industrial Media’s The Intellectual Property Corporation.

Actress Selena Gomez will join Hulu’s comedy series Only Murders in the Building as a star and executive producer, the streaming service said Friday.

Gomez will appear opposite Steve Martin and Martin Short in series, which follows three strangers who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one, said the streaming service.

Gomez, Short and Martin will serve as executive producers along with Dan Fogelman (This Is Us) and Jess Rosenthal.

HBO Max will follow actress/singer Selena Gomez into the kitchen as part of a new original series, Selena + Chef, debuting on the streaming service Aug. 10.

The 10-episode series follows Gomez as she's joined remotely by a different chef to tackle cuisines of all varieties, said the streaming service. Each episode will highlight a food-related charity as the series embraces both the struggle and the joy of learning to cook, according to HBO Max

Selena + Chef is executive produced by Gomez for July Moon Productions, along with executive producers Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman, and Leah Hariton on behalf of Industrial Media’s The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC).

HBO Max said it will start streaming Selena + Chef, a new cooking show starring and executive produced by Selena Gomez on Aug. 13.

The 10-episode unscripted series was produced by Industrial Media’s The Intellectual Property Corp.

In the series, the singer and actress, for whom cooking is not a strength, is paired with top chefs, including Angelo Sosa, Antonia Lofaso, Candice Kumai, Daniel Holzman, Jon & Vinny, Ludo Lefebvre, Nancy Silverton, Nyesha Arrington, Roy Choi, and Tonya Holland.

“Watching Selena with these incredible chefs has been a delicious joy,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max. “You don’t need to be an experienced chef yourself to enjoy the show; you learn with her and get to see all the fun that happens in the kitchen. Try not to watch it while hungry!”

“Having some of the best chefs open up their kitchens to me was a humbling and fun experience. I definitely discovered I have a lot more to learn. I’m also really happy that we were able to highlight and raise money for some incredible charitable organizations,” said Gomez.

Netflix Tuesday announced the debut date for its new documentary series Living Undocumented, from executive producer Selena Gomez.

The documentary, which debuts Oct. 2, follows eight undocumented immigrant families who have volunteered to tell their stories as they face potential deportation, according to Netflix. 

Living Undocumented illuminates and humanizes the complex US immigration system and depicts the struggles that many must endure in their quest to pursue the American dream, said the streaming service.
