HBO comedy Silicon Valley will returns for its fifth season on Mar. 25, the network said.

Mike Judge, John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky created the show, which takes a humorous look at the epicenter of the high-tech gold rush, where the people most qualified to succeed are the least capable of handling success.

The season five cast includes Thomas Middleditch, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr, Josh Brener, Amanda Crew, Matt Ross, Suzanne Cryer and Jimmy O. Yang.

Judge, Alec Berg, Clay Tarver, Michael Rotenberg, Tom Lassally, Jamie Babbit and Jim Kleverweis are Silicon Valley executive producers.

Showtime will premiere the seventh season of its Emmy Award-winning series Homeland in February, the network said Tuesday.

The series, which stars Claire Danes, Mandy Patinkin and Elizabeth Marvel, will premiere Feb. 11, the network said. The political drama series picks up from the previous season in which Danes’ character, agent Carrie Mathison, looks to secure the release of 200 members of the intelligence community arrested after an assassination attempt on the President (Marvel).

Homeland is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and is based on based on the original Israeli series Prisoners of War by Gideon Raff. Executive producers of the series include Danes, Alex Gansa, Howard Gordon, Chip Johannessen, Lesli Linka Glatter, Patrick Harbinson, Michael Klick, Ron Nyswaner, Gideon Raff, Avi Nir and Ran Telem.

The return of first-run broadcast network series continues to generate the lion’s share of headlines during the first few weeks of the fall television season.

But as the autumn leaves begin to fall, and Halloween pumpkins and Thanksgiving turkeys become more prevalent in viewers’ homes, so will the premieres of new and returning scripted series from cable networks and streaming services.

Once upon a time, competitors to the broadcast networks refrained from launching their best and strongest shows during the fall for fear of getting lost in the sheer noise of popular over-the-air shows premiering after a long summer hiatus. But in a world of 450-plus scripted series, cable and streaming services don’t have the luxury of ignoring any days on the calendar.

So viewers should expect to see a cavalcade of new as well as popular returning shows such as USA Network’s Emmy Award-winning series Mr. Robot on Oct. 11 and cable’s most-watched series, AMC’s The Walking Dead, on Oct. 22. New debuts such as Showtime’s drama White Famous, Audience Network’s Loudermilk and TBS’s The Last O.G. will undoubtedly draw their fair share of water-cooler buzz.

Streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu aren’t shying away from competing during the fall season. Netflix will look to scare up audiences with the October launch of Emmy-nominated series Stranger Things while offering a Thanksgiving Day serving of Spike Lee’s much-talked-about reboot of his 1986 film She’s Gotta Have It. Hulu will beam viewers forward in time Nov. 14 with the Seth Rogen-produced sci-fi comedy Future Man(pictured) while delivering its slice of the Marvel Comics franchise with the Nov. 21 debut of Marvel’s Runaways.

The fall is no longer the purview of the broadcast networks, and that only benefits viewers.

Kellie Pickler is looking at a busy couple of months. Season three of the country music artist’s unscripted series I Love Kellie Pickler debuts on CMT Aug. 3, and her syndicated talk show, Pickler & Ben, an E.W. Scripps Co. creation shot in front of a Nashville studio audience, debuts Sept. 18.

Pickler promised a lot of laughs in the new season of I Love Kellie Pickler. She called it a “feel-good show” but one that also spotlights things she holds dear, such as the military. Pickler recently concluded a USO tour in Iraq, her 11th with the organization.

“We’ll shine a light on things we feel passionate about,” Pickler told The Wire.

The new season, she said, offers both a North Carolina episode — her old friend Jenny joins her and husband Kyle Jacobs there — and a Minnesota one, with a friend of Kyle’s from back home visiting. They’ll also venture to Alaska. Pickler said the state has long been on her bucket list. She and Kyle try dog-sledding there. “We’re adventure chasers and adrenaline junkies,” she said.

Pickler was on the fifth season of American Idol in 2006, making it to the final six. She’s pumped for the new Idol on ABC. “I’m excited to see how they reinvent it and find new ways to make it more interesting,” she said.

Pickler & Ben is executive produced by Faith Hill. Besides cooking and home-design segments, Pickler said she and journalist Ben Aaron will “shine a light on small businesses,” with one or two featured in each episode. HSN is a partner on the show.

“We’ll support the locals and put the focus back on them,” she said. “The whole show will be shoppable.”

It’s a hectic time, but Pickler said that’s how she prefers it. “It’s a good problem to have,” she said. “I don’t do well being still for too long.”

All eight episodes of the first season of HBO comedy Insecure will be free to stream on YouTube and HBO.com, starting at 6 a.m. July 23 and ending 24 hours later, HBO said.

Season two of Insecure, also with eight episodes, debuts July 23 as well.

The show stars Issa Rae as Issa, Yvonne Orji as Molly, Jay Ellis as Lawrence and Lisa Joyce as Frieda. It follows the friendship of two black women as they deal with their flaws and cope with an endless series of uncomfortable everyday experiences.

Rae wrote the New York Times bestseller The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, which was published in 2015.
