Disney Plus will launch a new talk show series featuring Good Morning America co-host Robin Roberts in July.

The four-episode Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts series will feature round table conversations with Roberts and several female celebrities, including  Debbie Allen, Sofia Carson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jenna Dewan, Sheila E., Melissa Etheridge, Mickey Guyton, Betsey Johnson, Billie Jean King, Tig Notaro, Raven-Symoné and Josie Totah, said the streaming service.

NBA star LeBron James, through his media outlet The SpringHill Company, will serve as an executive producer for the series, which premieres on July 30.

"This project is very personal to me, and I'm proud to bring it to Disney Plus," said Roberts in a statement. "The guests we've assembled are an amazing group of women who have all achieved great success in their various careers. Although they represent different age groups and backgrounds, they were all willing to open up and share their unique stories with honesty and humor. I welcome viewers to come along with me on this journey as we learn about the importance of expressing vulnerability and connecting with others."  

HGTV has partnered with actress/talk show host Raven-Symoné to develop a one-hour pilot, What Not To Design, the company said Wednesday.

The series, an offshoot of the TLC's unscripted series What Not To Wear, the series will follow Symoné and her team of experts as they head a style intervention to overhaul home design disasters, said HGTV.

“To call these homes eclectic would be kind,” said Symoné in a statement. “We’re going to give families a clean slate and show them how to style their new space and apply the “to-do” and “not-to-do” list to the rest of the house.”

Disney Channel’s successful live-action comedy series Raven’s Home continues its fourth season March 19 with new episodes executive-produced by veteran Warren Hutcherson. Hutcherson — who took over production of season four in 2019 after the untimely death of Eunetta Boone, season three’s executive producer — has kept the show among Disney’s most watched and co-viewed shows, with a mix of comedic and family-oriented storylines revolving around series star Raven-Symoné. Hutcherson, whose career spans from performing standup comedy in New York in the 1980s to writing for such shows as Saturday Night Live, The Bernie Mac Show and Living Single, spoke with MCN senior content producer R. Thomas Umstead about making the switch to writing kids-targeted programming and the opportunities for writers and producers in a multiplatform television environment. 

You’ve previously worked on successful adult-targeted comedy series, so how difficult was it to adjust to writing for a younger target audience? I didn’t feel like it was that big of an adjustment. Most of the shows that I’ve worked on in my opinion are family shows. Obviously, there were subjects that Disney was not going to tackle, but it’s pretty much the same. 

How was your experience working with Raven-Symoné, and are you surprised that she and the show continue to connect with viewers? Not at all. Raven is very professional. Throughout her career she learned all the right lessons as far as being in front of the camera, and she was really eager to learn about what happens behind the camera. She had a vision of what she wanted to do, and I was fortunate because she had a lot to do with the decision of me stepping into the leadership position at the show. We both said, ‘Let’s achieve as much as we can with the show,’ and I’m always going to respect her for that.

From a producer’s standpoint, is this the best time to be in the business given the emerging content distribution platforms available? I think this is the best time to break into the industry. Back in the day, you would write a script and hope somebody read it. You had to show value to people who had some kind of connection in the business, and I feel those days are gone. Today, you could be 12 years old and start a YouTube channel, and if it turns into something huge, the industry will come to you. There are so many platforms available now that if you really want to get your voice out, then you can. If people are really compelled by that voice, then the money tree will shake in your direction. 

African-Americans are increasing their industry presence both in front of and behind the camera. Having experienced similar periods where Black content was popular only to eventually fall out of favor with distributors, do you think the current industry momentum is sustainable? It’s a really good question. If you look at the ’90s, that was true: They made a lot of Black shows and then they stopped. So there’s a sort of cyclical thing that happened in the industry up to now. What I do like now that makes me think that things might be changing is that you have a few more Black creators higher up in the food chain. That creates a situation where there’s going to be some consistent storytelling. But I’m also a realist. What I want to see is consistent good storytelling. I don’t want to see a Black version of Gilligan’s Island. 

Where do you see yourself in the next five years? I’ve been so enthusiastic about being a father that I really hadn’t thought about it. The one thing I’ve been thinking about is doing a one-man [stage] show. Or I could write a show and do it on YouTube. 

Raven Symoné captured viewers' hearts in the late 1980s and early 1990s as an adorable child star who appeared in numerous TV shows and moves, most notably as adorable Olivia Kendall on The Cosby Show.

As an adult, Symoné has garnered success as a singer/songwriter and actress, and in 2015 was named as a co-host on ABC's popular daytime talk show The View. Currently, she serves as executive producer of Disney Channel's Raven's Home, a spinoff of her hit Disney series That's So Raven.

MCN Original Videos caught up with Symoné for a 2017 video interview in which she talks about the not-so-easy transition from child actor to adult media superstar. 

Disney Channel has greenlit a second season of comedy series Raven’s Home, the network announced Tuesday.

The series, a spinoff of the network’s successful 2000s series That’s So Raven, features Raven Symoné reprising her role as Raven Baxter from the original series. The July premiere of Raven’s Home was the top cable Tv series premiere in two years among kids 6-11, Tweens 9-14 and Kids 2-11, said network officials.

Symoné serves as executive producer of the series along with Dava Savel (That's So Raven, Will and Grace) and Michael Feldman (That's So Raven, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn). The series also stars Issac Ryan Brown, Navia Robinson, Jason Maybaum, Sky Katz and Anneliese van der Pol.

"We are incredibly proud of our first season and the fact that Raven has returned home to Disney Channel in a very big way,” said Adam Bonnett, executive vice president of original programming for Disney Channels Worldwide in a statement. “The entire cast and crew have delivered a classic family sitcom that kids and families will be watching for many years to come.”

Disney Channel announced it will launch its new comedy series Raven’s Home starring Raven- Symoné on July 21.

The series, a spinoff of the network’s popular That’s So Raven series, will debut after the premiere of the network’s Descendants 2 movie, according to network officials. Raven- Symoné reprises her role as Raven Baxter, now a divorced mother raising two kids. Anneliese van der Pol also reprises her role as Chelsea in the new series.

In support of Raven’s Home, Disney will make available all four seasons of That’s So Raven on the Disney Channel App and VOD beginning June 1, said network officials. Raven’s Home is executively produced by Scott Thomas and Jed Elinoff (Best Friends Whenever), as well as Raven-Symoné.

"Raven is a one-of-a-kind, gifted performer and both she and Anneliese have an undeniable chemistry that we look forward to sharing with a new generation of kids and families,” said Adam Bonnett, executive vice president of original programming for Disney Channels Worldwide in a statement.

Disney Channel will revive its popular series That’s So Raven with series star Raven-Symoné, who today announced her departure from The View to work on the series, Disney said Thursday.

Raven-Symoné will reprise her iconic character Raven Baxter for the untitled spinoff series and serve as executive producer, said Disney. In the new series Baxter is a divorced mother of two pre-teen kids, one of whom has inherited her ability to catch glimpses of the future. The network has already begun preliminary casting for the series.

That’s So Raven aired on Disney Channel from 2003-06 and during its run was one of Disney Channel’s most watched shows.  

"Raven's brilliant style of fearless comedy was a driving force for Disney Channel's success around the world,” said Adam Bonnett, executive vice president of original programming for Disney Channels Worldwide in a statement. “Her performance in That's So Raven is timeless. We now have our eyes on the future with her, and we're looking forward to telling more stories for a new generation with an adult Raven Baxter raising her young family."

Disney Channel has set a Sept. 7 date for Raven-Symoné’s guest starring appearance on its spy comedy series K.C. Undercover, the network said.

Raven-Symoné, who starred in Disney’s long-running series That’s So Raven in the 2000s, will appear alongside K.C. Undercover series star Zendaya in a one-hour special episode, said Disney officials.

The series also stars Kadeem Hardison, Tammy Townsend, Kamil McFadden, Trinitee Stokes and Veronica Dunne.

Former Disney Channel star Raven-Symoné has been named as a co-host for ABC’s daytime talk show The View, ABC announced Monday.

Symoné will replace Rosie O’Donnell on The View effective immediately, joining co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez.

 Symoné, who starred in Disney Channel’s hit series That’s So Raven in the early mid-2000s, will return to the network this summer in a guest starring role for the network’s series K.C. Undercover, starring Zendaya. Symoné has also recently appeared on episodes of Black-ish and Empire.

 “Raven is smart, funny and genuine. We’ve loved getting to know her, and we’re all thrilled she’ll be part of The View every day,” said Executive Producer Bill Wolff in a statement. “She brings a fresh perspective on the hot topics of the day, and she’s a lively, welcome addition to our conversations and interviews.”

Former Disney Channel teen star Raven-Symoné will return to the network in several episodes of the network’s new series K.C. Undercover, the network confirmed.

The 29-year old Symoné will appear in at least two episodes of the comedy series, starring Zendaya Coleman (Shake It Up) and Kadeem Hardison (A Different World).

The series drew 3.5 million viewers in its Jan. 21 premiere, and delivered nearly 400,000 unique users in the first two weeks of its debut on WATCH Disney Channel.

Symoné previously starred in the network’s popular series That’s So Raven from 2003-2007. Symone’s most recent TV shows as the ABC Family series State Of Georgia, which aired in 2007.
