Anderson Cooper interviews Prince Harry on 60 Minutes Sunday, January 8. The prince has a memoir, titled Spare, coming out January 10. Besides the book, Harry will discuss his childhood, the loss of his mother, and his life as the Duke of Sussex, both in the U.K. and now in California.

Harry is the younger son of Charles and the late Princess Diana. He’s the brother of William and his wife is Meghan Markle. Harry and Markle stepped down from the royal family in 2020 and relocated to Southern California.

Prince Harry told Cooper he’s been a victim of leaks amid the royal family. "Every single time I've tried to do it privately there have been briefings and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife," he said of his conversations within the family. "You know, the family motto is never complain, never explain, but it's just a motto."

Cooper anchors Anderson Cooper 360˚ on CNN. He’s been a 60 Minutes correspondent since 2006.

Apple TV Plus will premiere docuseries The Me You Can’t See, from Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry, May 21. The series offers “illuminating stories that help lift the veil on the current state of mental health and emotional well-being,” according to Apple TV Plus. 

“Now more than ever, there is an immediate need to replace the shame surrounding mental health with wisdom, compassion and honesty,” said Winfrey. “Our series aims to spark that global conversation.”

Winfrey and Prince Harry guide discussions about mental health and emotional well-being while opening up about their struggles. “Featuring high-profile guests, alongside a wide range of people from across the globe living with the challenges of mental health issues and addressing their emotional well-being, the series transcends culture, age, gender and socioeconomic status to destigmatize a highly misunderstood subject and give hope to viewers who learn that they are not alone,” said Apple TV Plus.  

Prince Harry is the Duke of Sussex. 

“We are born into different lives, brought up in different environments, and as a result are exposed to different experiences. But our shared experience is that we are all human,” said Prince Harry. “The majority of us carry some form of unresolved trauma, loss, or grief, which feels—and is—very personal. Co-created and executive produced by Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry, The Me You Can’t See is also executive produced by Harpo Productions' Terry Wood and Catherine Cyr, along with RadicalMedia’s Jon Kamen, Dave Sirulnick and Alex Browne, with Browne as showrunner. It is directed and executive produced by Dawn Porter and  Asif Kapadia.

Netflix has acquired Heart of Invictus, a docuseries from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex about service members who have suffered life-changing injuries or illnesses as they prepare for the Invictus Games. Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle are behind Archewell Productions. 

The series depicts the Invictus Games The Hague 2020, which shifted to 2022. 

“The multi-episode series will join the competitors as they train, and along the way reveal powerful stories of resilience and hope,” goes the series description. “The series will also follow the organizers as they work to prepare for the Games, postponed until next spring, and as they partner with each nation’s team to support their competitors over the coming year.”

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Archewell Productions team are building an ambitious slate that reflects the values and causes they hold dear. Prince Harry will appear in the series and is executive producer. 

Lifetime is at work on its third movie in the Prince Harry/Meghan Markle franchise with Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace. Production is set to begin this spring and the premiere is lined up for later this year. 

In 2018, Lifetime premiered movie Harry & Meghan, and a year later it was Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal.

“Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace reveals what really happened inside the palace that drove Harry and Meghan to leave everything behind in order to make a future for themselves and their son Archie,” said Lifetime. “The movie will detail Meghan's growing isolation and sadness, their disappointment that ‘The Firm’ was not defending them against the press's attacks and Harry’s fear that history would repeat itself and he would not be able to protect his wife and son from the same forces that caused his mother’s untimely death.”

Lifetime said the movie will also reveal the feuds between Harry and brother Will, Meghan and Will’s wife Kate, and Harry and his father Charles, Prince of Wales.

Harry and Meghan drew a giant crowd when CBS aired their interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this month. The couple departed the House of Windsor last year, freeing themselves of royal duties, and reside in California with Archie. 

Harry & Meghan: Escaping The Palace is executive produced by Merideth Finn and Michele Weiss. Menhaj Huda will direct from a script by Scarlett Lacey. 

Buckingham Palace issued a statement Tuesday in response to Prince Harry's and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey.

"The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan," said the statement, which was released by Buckingham Palace on behalf of the Queen.

The statement comes two days after the interview aired in primetime on CBS. During the interview, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle opened up about why they left the UK and gave up royal life, citing issues over race and safety.

"The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning," said the statement. "While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

"Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members."

Not only was Oprah With Meghan and Harry a ratings hit for CBS, it was the No. 1 most-watched program on all of live, linear television Sunday, per Vizio’s Inscape.

The special captured 3.44% of minutes watched by Vizio smart TVs and beat out the 2021 NBA All-Star Game (3.26% of all minutes watched Sunday). And, for the week of March 1-7, the interview was No. 12 overall for watch-time, capturing 0.55% of all minutes watched during the seven-day period. 

Inscape, which tracks minute-by-minute tune-in, revealed that viewership grew steadily as the interview progressed, peaking around 9:37-9:38 p.m. ET and again 9:55-9:58 p.m.

According to iSpot, the always-on TV ad measurement and attribution company, 52 brands aired 56 spots 60 times during the interview. Most-seen brands (not counting network promos), included Kohl’s (20.4 million TV ad impressions), Vicks ZzzQuil (10.8 million), Realtor.com (10.7 million), Always (10.7 million) and H&R Block (10.7 million).

Oprah Winfrey’s sit-down with Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, did a heavy rating Sunday on CBS. CBS won the night with a 1.7 in viewers 18-49, per the Nielsen overnights, and a 10 share. In a distant second was ABC at 0.6/4. 

60 Minutes got a 0.8 on CBS and Oprah with Meghan and Harry did a noisy 2.6 across two hours. An Equalizer rerun wrapped up prime. 

ABC had America’s Funniest Home Videos at 0.6 and two hours of American Idol at 0.8. Who Wants to be a Millionaire rated a 0.4. 

Fox got a 0.4/2. Cherries Wild and Bless the Harts both got a 0.3. The Simpsons and The Great North both scored a 0.4. Bob’s Burgers tallied a 0.5 and Family Guy a 0.4. 

NBC and Telemundo both notched a 0.3/2. On NBC, a rerun of The Voice led into Ellen’s Game of Games at 0.3. The season premiere of Good Girls got a 0.4. 

On Telemundo, Exatlon Estados Unidos did a 0.3 and 0.4 across two hours. Movie Poseidon followed. 

Univision got a 0.2/1. Aqui y Ahora led off prime. Film Ladrones followed, then Liga MX soccer. 

The CW got a 0.1/0. The Critics’ Choice Awards took up prime. Last year’s event got a 0.2. 

Oprah Winfrey interviews Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, Sunday, March 7 on CBS. Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A Primetime Special is on 8 to 10 p.m. ET. 

In the interview, Markle said of the royals back in England, “I don't know how they could expect that, after all of this time, we would still just be silent if there is an active role that The Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us." 

The royal family is nicknamed The Firm. 

Markle is facing allegations from unnamed staffers of “emotional cruelty and manipulation.”

Buckingham Palace said it was “clearly very concerned” about the allegations.

Winfrey’s interview took place in late February. It was previewed on CBS This Morning March 5. 

The couple departed the House of Windsor last year. 

Harry was 12 when his mother, Princess Diana, died in a car crash. He told Winfrey his "biggest concern was history repeating itself," in terms of the way the U.K. treats its royal family. “I'm just really relieved and happy to be sitting here, talking to you, with my wife by my side," he said. "Because I can't begin to imagine what it must have been like for her, going through this process by herself, all those years ago. Because it has been unbelievably tough for the two of us. But at least we had each other." 

Six months after leaving the House of Windsor and moving to Beverly Hills, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, have signed a multiyear production deal for an unreported sum with Netflix.

The deal, first reported by the New York Times and later confirmed by numerous other outlets, calls for the royal couple to produce documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming through their just created production company. (No name has yet been disclosed for that shingle.)

Variety earlier reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had also talked to Apple and Disney regarding their production plans, and that they were seeking a payday on the order of $100 million. 

“Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope,” the couple said in a statement. “As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us.”

Added Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos: “We’re incredibly proud they have chosen Netflix as their creative home and are excited about telling stories with them that can help build resilience and increase understanding for audiences everywhere.

For Netflix, it was the second big production deal announced in 48 hours. On Tuesday, the streaming service confirmed that it had green-lit Game of Thrones creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and Alexander Woo to produce a drama series based on the award-winning Chinese book series “The Three-Body Problem.”

Prince Harry and wife Meghan have signed a multi-year deal with Netflix, which will see them make documentaries, docuseries, scripted shows, feature films and children’s programming.

Harry and Meghan may appear on camera in documentary programming, said the New York Times, but Meghan, an actress, does not plan on a return to acting. She starred in Suits when she was Meghan Markle. 

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who had a baby over a year ago, said they aim to create programming “that informs but also gives hope.”

Terms of the agreement were not revealed. 

The pair broke from their royal responsibilities in January. 

Harry and Meghan live in the Los Angeles area. 

The former royals had talks with Disney and Apple prior to inking the deal with Netflix, reported the New York Times, and Variety noted that they’d also met with NBCUniversal. 

The 2016 Summer Olympics are still several months away, but ESPN will focus its attention this week on another international competition: The Invictus Games, considered by many to be the annual Olympics games for wounded war veterans.

The games, initially launched by the United Kingdom’s Prince Harry in 2014 in London to honor wounded military personnel from around the world, will take place at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports facilities in Orlando, Fla., and feature more than 500 competitors from 14 nations.

ESPN2 kicked off coverage on Sunday (May 8) with the opening ceremonies, and will air a one-hour primetime highlight show today (May 9) and Wednesday night (May 11). ESPN will run a 90-minute primetime show on Tuesday (May 10) featuring action from the games.

Subscription online-video service ESPN3 will air more than 35 hours of live coverage from the games starting today, according to ESPN.

ESPN2’s coverage of the games, created to help inspire recovery and support rehabilitation among wounded warriors, will be sponsored by Land Rover, according to network officials.

“Anytime you can give back to the men and women who gave every measure of themselves to their countries and to help the healing process that they’re going through is a great thing to be part of,” said Invictus Games coordinating producer Bill Bonnell said. “It’s admirable for people to say thank you for your service, but this is part of us being able to give them sport and competition to help the healing process for them.”

Of the 10 sports featured within the Invictus Games, ESPN and ESPN2 will focus its primetime coverage on track and field, swimming, power lifting, rowing and archery events. “We’re going to get as much competition in within the primetime shows that we have,” he said.

ESPN2 will support its coverage with shoulder programming that will highlight the issues that wounded military men and women face. The network will offer nightly “Up Close and Personal” features on several of the competitors, narrated by former ABC News reporter Bob Woodruff, who in 2005 was wounded in a roadside bomb while he was reporting from Iraq.

ESPN2 will air the closing ceremonies live on Thursday night featuring musical performances from Rascal Flatts, American Idol winner Phillip Phillips, hip-hop artist Flo Rida, The Voice’s Jordan Smith, and wounded warrior band, Vetted.

The network is not looking for Olympicssize ratings from its coverage of the Invictus Games, Bonnell said. Rather, it’s looking to bring attention to the plight of wounded veterans in the U.S. and around the world.

“At the end of the day, if we’re able to change attitudes about our military men and women and have people see how inspirational the stories are of these men and women who have served our country, that to me would be a successful broadcast,” he said. “We want to give these people a spotlight.”

ESPN is already in talks to televise next year’s Invictus Games from Toronto, but no deals have been reached.
