Drama Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler will not see season four on HBO Max. The show launched on Epix and moved to HBO Max for season three, which came out in October. 

Based on DC characters, Pennyworth follows Alfred Pennyworth, played by Jack Bannon, a former British SAS soldier who goes to work for young billionaire Thomas Wayne, before he and Martha become parents to Bruce Wayne. 

Ben Aldridge, Emma Paetz, Paloma Faith, Ryan Fletcher and Dorothy Atkinson are in the cast with Bannon.  

Bruno Heller created the show.

HBO Max will continue the early exploits of Batman's faithful butler Alfred Pennyworth with the third season debut of Pennyworth: The Origins of Batman's Butler in October.

The series -- the first two seasons of which aired on Epix -- follows former British SAS soldier Pennyworth -- played by Jack Bannon -- as he forms a security company in 1960s London and goes to work with young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge) and his wife Martha (Emma Paetz), before they become Bruce Wayne’s parents, according to HBO Max.

Epix has launched the first video trailer for its upcoming original series Billy The Kid, starring Tom Blyth.

The eight-episode series, written by Michael Hirst (Vikings), is based on the life of famed American outlaw Billy The Kid (Blyth), from his humble Irish roots to his early days as a cowboy and gunslinger in the American frontier, to his pivotal role in the Lincoln Country War and beyond, said network officials.

HBO Max has secured the rights to the third season of the DC Comics-based series Pennyworth following the show’s two-season run on Epix.

The series, which follows the life of Alfred Pennyworth prior to serving as Bruce Wayne’s butler, will debut its third season on the streaming service in 2022, HBO Max announced Saturday at the DC FanDome event. HBO Max has also secured rights to the first two seasons of the series, which aired on Epix.

The Warner Bros. Television-produced series stars Jack Bannon as Pennyworth, a former British SAS soldier who forms a security company in 1960s London and goes to work with young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), before he becomes Bruce Wayne’s father. Season three begins after a five-year time jump: the civil war is over and a cultural revolution has changed the world for better or worse — ushering in a new age of superheroes and supervillains, Epix said.

The series also stars Emma Paetz, Paloma Faith, Ryan Fletcher, Dorothy Atkinson, Ramon Tikaram, Harriet Slater and Simon Manyonda.

Pennyworth is executive produced by Bruno Heller, Matthew Patnick, Danny Cannon and John Stephens.  

 The return of Epix’s drama series Pennyworth leads a documentary and movie-heavy lineup of premieres this week.

Epix on Dec. 13 will premiere the sophomore season of Pennyworth, which follows the early years in the life of of Alfred Pennyworth prior to his run as Bruce Wayne’s family butler. The premium service will air four weekly episodes before airing the remaining six episodes of the season later in 2021.

Other debuts include Netflix's Ryan Murphy-directed musical movie The Prom on Dec. 11, and HBO’s documentary The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart on Dec. 12.

Epix has renewed its original drama series Pennyworth for a second season, the pay service announced Wednesday.

The series, from Warner Horizon Scripted Television, follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth (played by Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier who goes to work with young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), who has not yet become Bruce Wayne’s father, in 1960s London.

“Pennyworth has been a big hit for us, embraced by critics and fans alike,” saidMichael Wright, Epix president in a statement. “It was the highest-performing original series ever to premiere on Epix, more than doubling the viewership of the shows that came before it. We can’t wait to work with this phenomenal cast and creative team on another exciting season.”

The series also stars Emma Paetz (Gentleman Jack), Hainsley Lloyd Bennett (Eastenders), Ryan Fletcher (Outlander), Dorothy Atkinson (Mr. Turner, Topsy-Turvy), Ian Puleston-Davies (Coronation Street) and Polly Walker (Rome, Caprica).

Premium channel Epix has launched on AT&T Now, the recently rebranded virtual MVPD formerly known as DirecTV Now.

The launch follows AT&T’s broader deal with the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer-owned network, which already launched on AT&T’s DirecTV linear satellite platform back on May 19.

AT&T Now finished the second quarter with 1.34 million subscribers, down by almost a third since peaking at around 1.8 million customers a year ago.

Distribution across AT&T’s pay TV platforms will bolster Epix, which reportedly had around 15 million subscribers when it finally launched a direct-to-consumer streaming adjunct back in February.

Like virtually all premium channels these days, Epix is mixing in theatrical movies with original shows. Notably, Epix just premiered the Bruno Heller-produced thriller Pennyworth on July 28

“It’s an incredibly exciting moment for the network as we continue to expand our distribution footprint and bring our superior customer experience and quality programming to new audiences,” said Epix president Michael Wright, in a statement. 

Epix has launched on the AT&T TV Now streaming service nearly three months after the premium service launched on AT&T’s DirecTv’s satellite service.

AT&T TV Now, formerly DirecTV Now, will offer Epix for $6 per month.The launch follows Epix and AT&T’s recently announced carriage agreement and the network’s May 19 launch on the DirecTV satellite service. Subscribers of the streaming service will have access to Epix original programming, including Pennyworth and upcoming drama Godfather of Harlem.
