The Peabody Awards have announced the first group of winners in The Peabody 30, honoring programming in news, radio/podcast, web and public service.

The awards, based at the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, marks the inaugural winners of The Peabody 30, with winners in the remaining categories (entertainment, children's/youth, documentary and educational) announced over the next week, according to officials. This year, the Peabody Awards' Board of Jurors chose 60 finalists, from which 30 award winners are chosen. The awards' gala will be held on May 21 in New York; a televised special will air on Pivot on Monday, June 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
