Paramount Plus released a preview trailer for its sci-fi drama series, 'Star Trek: Picard,' which will return for its second season in February 2022.

In the trailer, series star Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his crewmates are transported back to an alternate timeline to stop a "totalitarian nightmare" that could destroy the universe. 

Along with Stewart, Star Trek: Picard stars Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd, Alison Pill and Evan Evagora. 

CBS All Access Thursday released a teaser video trailer for its upcoming series Star Trek: Picard.

The series features Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons on Star Trek: The Next Generation. The new series will follow Picard's character into the next chapter of his life, according to the streaming service. 

Star Trek: Picard also stars Alison Pill, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Harry Treadaway, said CBS All Access.

Patrick Stewart’s Walter Blunt is a former British officer who served in the Falkland Islands war and hosts an interview show, Blunt Talk, on U.S. television. We meet him in a hotel bar one evening, downing Scotches and telling a story about one of the Duke of Windsor’s friends who cut off a soldier’s testicles in New York.

Emotionally fragile, “recently divorced for the fourth time,” prone to bad decisions and misguided acts of gallantry, Blunt goes on a brief bender and ends the night nearly fired. He persuades the network to give him one last opportunity on the air, where he pulls off a painful ratings coup. Resurrected, he’s determined to maintain his job and “take care of my viewers.” That involves delivering stories of hope and telling the real truth, however many lies are required to do it.

His next misadventure forces him into a ludicrous Plan B that has very little chance to succeed. But that’s better than conceding defeat. “I would rather go out like this,” he declares. “A fool’s mission is still a mission.”

Creator Jonathan Ames (Bored to Death) has said he blended elements of Howard Beale in Network and P.G. Wodehouse in this new series, green-lit for two 10-episode seasons. The supporting cast is led by Adrian Scarborough as Blunt’s trusty valet, Harry. Jacki Weaver plays Rosalie Winter, his stolid executive producer, ready for a spooning session with the star as needed. Romany Malco is Bob Gardner, the network president who backs Walter but warns him, quietly, “Bob giveth, Bob taketh.”

Notable guest stars include Moby, as himself, sort of; Ed Begley Jr. as Rosalie’s husband; and Richard Lewis as Blunt’s unorthodox therapist.

Starz has begun production on Blunt Talk, its latest original series entry.

The premium programmer has ordered 20 episodes of the half-hour scripted series from Media Rights Capital (House of Cards), with the first 10-installment campaign expected to premiere this summer.

Starring Patrick Stewart and executive-produced by Seth MacFarlane, Jonathan Ames, Tristram Shapeero and Stephanie Davis, Blunt Talk is set in Los Angeles and follows British import Walter Blunt (Stewart), who is intent upon conquering the world of American cable news and the fallout from his well-intentioned, but mostly misguided decision-making, both on and off the air.

Through the platform of his nightly interview show, Blunt is on a mission to impart his wisdom and guidance on how Americans should live, think and behave.  Besieged by network bosses, a dysfunctional news staff, numerous ex-wives and children of all ages, Blunt’s only support is alcoholic manservant Harry (Adrian Scarborough, The King's Speech).

They are joined by Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook) as Rosalie, Blunt’s tough and motherly producer-manager; Dolly Wells (Doll & Em) as Celia, Blunt’s head producer and writer; and Timm Sharp (Enlightened) who plays Jim, Blunt’s head writer.  Richard Lewis (Curb Your Enthusiasm) will recur as Dr. Weiss, Blunt’s appointed therapist.
