Outside Television Goes Inside Sling TV

Sling TV, Dish Network’s OTT-TV service for cord-cutters, is expanding its Sports Extra pack with the addition of Outside Television.

Sports Extra, which costs $5 per month on top of Sling TV’s core $20 per month package, also features ESPNU, beIN Sports, The SEC Network, ESPNNews, ESPN Bases Loaded, ESPN Buzzer Beater and ESPN Goal Line and Univision Deportes.

The addition of the channel, which features shows about outdoor sports and extreme activities such as surfing, kayaking, BASE jumping and climbing, comes about seven months after Dish Network and Outside Television announced a carriage deal, which paved the way for the lifestyle sports network to be added to Dish’s premium Multi-Sport Pack.

As Sling TV adds Outdoor Television to Sports Extra, it’s shedding one as well – Universal Sports Network, which is shutting down.

Outside Television Airs Dean Potter Programs

Outside Television is changing its primetime schedule tonight (May 18) to air programs focused on famed rock climber Dean Potter's exploits. Potter, 43 years old, died on Saturday after attempting a wingsuit flight from a cliff in Yosemite National Park. Another BASE jumper (parachuting from a fixed object), Graham Hunt, 29, also was killed in the accident on Saturday (May 16).

At 8 p.m., Outside will air the film The Core; at 9 p.m. it has scheduled Red Rock: Race For The Nose, and at 9:30 the extreme-sports outlet will show Ultimate Rush: Free and Solo.

Outside TV Times New Series For Cox Preview

Outside Television is set to air original content, including the new series Outlook: Icons Revealed, during a free preview week in all Cox markets, the network announced today.

The new series premieres on Dec. 4 at 10 p.m, which is the second day of a 10-day free preview campaign by Cox.

Outlook: Icons Revealedwill feature Olympic gold metalist Julia Mancuso, as well as other professional athletes, leaders and musicians. Some include, America’s Cup skipper Jimmy Spithill, climber Alex Honnold, kayaker Steve Fisher and singer/surfer Donavan Frankenreiter.

Non-subscribers in all Cox markets will be able to view programs and specials on Outside Television from Dec. 3 to Dec. 12, including news magazine series Dispatches, as well as Branded and more.
