Shakespeare and Craig Pearce, creator of Will, which debuts on TNT July 10, go way back. Pearce wrote the screenplay for Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 film Romeo + Juliet, and as a boy, helped his mother, an amateur actress, learn her lines when she played Juliet.

Will tells the story of Shakespeare arriving in London with hopes of being a playwright. There’s a punk-rock spirit to the series. Theater at the time, said Pearce, “was like rock ‘n’ roll, very passionate and very visceral.”

Pearce did a “huge” amount of research to craft his portrait of a twentysomething Shakespeare. While everyone knows the Bard’s name, and much of his work, Pearce said people know little about the man. He had “an incredible ability to see into the souls of human beings,” said Pearce.

One could also say that about Jill Kargman, creator of Odd Mom Out, which has season three starting up on Bravo July 12. Kargman expertly satirizes the Manhattan mom elite on the show, which borrows from real-life headlines, too. Season two closed with a Ponzi scheme rocking the Upper East Side, and the new season offers a close-up of its effects.

Kargman said Bernie Madoff lived a block away from her before he relocated to a Federal Correctional Institution in North Carolina. She’s friendly with some of his victims. “I was very much immersed in the fallout,” Kargman said.

Each new season of Odd Mom Out reveals a little bit more of its creator. Kargman said season three is “the balsamic reduction of me.” The new batch of episodes leans into her darker side a bit more. “It’s the purist version of me this year,” she added.

Asked how long she sees the series going, Kargman quipped that 30 seasons would be nice. “There’s so much material,” she said. “I’m living it — I get more and more ideas every day.”

And Adam Conover has plenty of ideas for the new season of his myth-busting series Adam Ruins Everything, which starts on truTV July 11. The premiere sees Adam ruin having a baby. “There’s a huge amount of misinformation about that life stage that people go through,” Conover said.

Conover said his inquisitive ways go back to childhood. “I was the kid in class questioning why we were being taught this way, and what the truth was. It got me into trouble.”

Conover consumed science shows insatiably as a boy on Long Island; he called the ’90s the “unappreciated golden age of science TV.” Those shows, such as Beakman’s World and Bill Nye the Science Guy, have left their mark on Adam Ruins Everything, such as when Conover tells the viewer why they should care about a given topic.

“I did not realize how much our show resembles those science shows,” he said.

Bravo will be pumping up interest for the second season premiere of scripted comedy series Odd Mom Out by teaming with Tawkers, the company behind a messaging app that will allow fans of the show to engage with characters from the series.

Bravo said link up with Tawkers will provide viewers with an “interactive storytelling experience” that encourages them to conduct real-time conversations with Odd Mom Out characters. Tawkers is billed as a social discussion platform where users can host public instant message conversations.

Bravo said this marks the first collaboration between Tawkers and a media brand.  Season two of Odd Mom Out premieres June 20 at 10 p.m. ET.

Ahead of it, fans of the show can catch up on the first season by checking out the first conversation between “Jill” and “Vanessa” on Tawkers’ app, at BravoTV.com and via the Odd Mom Out Facebook page.  This “extended storytelling experience” will continue after select episodes as more characters from the show are added.

Bravo takes a stab at the sitcom with Odd Mom Out.

The series stars comedian Jill Kargman as reluctant socialite Jill Weber, caught between the trappings of New York’s rich-and-famous residents and a desire to live a “normal” life with her husband, Andy (Andy Buckley), and their three kids.

The first two (of 10) episodes follow Jill as she struggles to get her children into an exclusive private school alongside those of her more well-off neighbors, who tend to look down at her and her husband despite their financially comfortable lifestyle. Adding to her angst are Andy’s brother Lex (Sean Kleier), a multimillionaire who just closed a major deal to bring bagels to China; Lex’s pampered wife, Brooke (Abby Elliott), who looks fit and trim despite being eight months pregnant; and Andy’s mother, Candace (Joanna Cassidy), who can’t help but take pot shots at Jill’s attempts to fi t in with New York’s high society.

Keeping Jill balanced is her best friend, Vanessa (K.K. Glick), who is doing well in her own right as an ER doctor.

The show’s strength is in the quick and smart dialogue between Jill and her circle of high-society snobs, as well as the internal battle she faces in wanting to shun the high society life but at the same time embracing some of its entitlements and pleasures. In one scene, she reluctantly goes to a high-end day spa with Candace and Brooke, only to be enthralled by the comforts that such an experience can provide.

Odd Mom Out fits in well with Bravo’s lineup of female-targeted reality content. While not quite a scripted version of the network’s popular Housewives franchise, it should resonate with the network’s core 18-49 female viewers.

Bravo has filled out cast assignments for its new 10-episode comedy series, Odd Mom Out.

Delving into the wealthy lives of fierce mothers around New York’s Upper East Side, the show is tied closely to Jill Kargman’s real life.

Created by Kargman, the half-hour show will also star Abby Elliot, Andy Buckley, Sean Kleier, KK Glick and Joanna Cassidy, in Bravo’s second original scripted series. The show centers on Kargman feeling left out in a city that has become so exclusive, stylish and current. Production starts later this month, with shooting around NYC.

Andy Buckley, most popular for The Office, will play Jill’s affluent husband, while Abby Elliot of Saturday Night Live is the sister-in-law and one of the Upper East Side’s hip mom’s. Seam Kleier will portray her successful brother-in-law and KK Glick plays an ER doctor and her best friend.  Joanna Cassidy of Six Feet Under is cast as the uppity mother-in-law.

Jill’s character never turns down the chance to gossip about the Upper East Side lifestyle. As a New York Times best-selling author and talented tastemaker, she written more than 200 articles for a number of publications from Vogue to GQ, and also moonlights as a lyricist for Daryl Roth’s musical.

Abby Elliott (Brooke)

Abby Elliot was the first second-generation cast member on SNL, and is known for her four seasons on the show. She has also appeared in shows including, How I Met Your Mother, Happy Endings, Inside Amy Schumer, and 2 Broke Girls. Catch her in the films, Life Partners, Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or on television in Garfunkel and Oates.

Andy Buckley (Andy)

Andy Buckley most recently played Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ boyfriend on the HBO show, Veep, but is most known for his role on The Office as David Wallace. Other credits include, Bridesmaids, The Other Guys, Life As We Know It, and the new, Jurassic World.

Sean Kleier (Lex)

Kleier started off performing stand up and improv in New York and Boston, with content seen on Funny or Die, The Today Show, The Huffington Post and Fox and Friends. His work has also been featured in The Washington Post, Time, Al Jazeera, USA Today and more. Kleier writes and directs for Motiv Creative and will soon appear in Madam Secretary, The Affair and The Intern.

KK Glick (Vanessa)

KK Glick has been in many commercials and comic shorts, performing all over NYC in a number of improv groups as well. Glick is a correspondent on VH1’s Top 20 Countdown and has been recently seen as Katie in Bachelorette, a Leslye Headland production.

Joanna Cassidy (Candace)

Joanna Cassidy is known for her role as JoJo White in the 1983 NBC series, Buffalo Bill, where she won a Golden Globe. Her most memorable role was in Blade Runner, as Zhora, and she also played the iconic role of Dolores in the live action/animated movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit. She has starred in Six Feet Under, Body of Proof, Too Late and Visions.
