On Monday (March 30), Al Jazeera America is launching a 6 a.m. to noon block of live news programming, which it said meant an additional two hours of morning and one more hour of mid-day news. The network used to have a 7-9:30 a.m. morning news show, but dropped it in January. Capital New York around that time reported a network memo outlining new programming plans, including a new morning show. The network has been running documentaries and other previously aired programming in the mornings since then, apparently.

The new live morning news block will be hosted by several different anchors and reporters, emanating from studios in New York City and including live broadcasts from Al Jazeera in Doha and London and various global bureaus.

The network said new evening programming will be coming soon "which reflects the channel’s values of in-depth, fact-based journalism through hard-hitting examinations of today’s pressing, important and occasionally provocative issues."
