Something looks different at The Office today on Peacock.

In a new spot for the film Minions: The Rise of Gru, the latest in the Universal Pictures’ Despicable Me franchise, the memorable opening of the long-running TV series The Office has been remade, featuring Gru and his little yellow henchmen.

Gru is shown as The Boss at the Dunder Minion Evil Company outpost in Scranton, while the Minions populate the rest of the office, recreating some of the favorite moments from the series (Jell-O anyone?)

The film will open in theaters on July 1. 

The custom spot was created in collaboration with Peacock, Universal Pictures, Illumination and the creative team behind The Office.   ■

FX Networks said its movie-buying binge now includes exclusive U.S. commercial-TV premiere rights to Minions, which scored the second-biggest opening weekend ever for an animated feature with $115 million in domestic box office revenue. FX Networks -- FX, FXX, FXM and the video-on-demand platform FX Now -- also bought rights to Ted 2 and Terminator Genisys; to Jurassic World; to Furious 7 and Pitch Perfect 2.

FX Networks also has licensed Taken 3, Kingsman: The Secret Service and Home.

The News Corp.-owned programming outfit said that in 2014 it licensed 67% of all of the year’s features that grossed more than $100 million at the box office.
