Netflix took to social media Wednesday to warn its subscribers not to hurt themselves walking around with blindfolds like the characters portrayed in its horror-themed original movie Bird Box.

In an afternoon tweet, the streaming service asked customers not to participate in the now viral #BirdBoxChallenge, in which people don blindfolds and try to complete tasks often depicted in the film. The challenge is based on Bird Box star Sandra Bullock’s character, who, along with her children, navigate treacherous and scary terrain blindfolded in an effort to avoid an entity that causes people to kill themselves if seen.

Since its Dec. 21 debut, the film has inspired memes and videos in which people film themselves doing many of the tasks depicted in the movie.

According to Netflix, Bird Box was watched by more than 45 million Netflix accounts in the first seven days since its launch. The added publicity surrounding the Bird Box Challenge will most likely build more interest for the movie in the long run.

WE tv will launch “GIF Sync,” a first-of-its kind social experience to enhance viewer engagement and social media activity during its popular unscripted shows, starting with the second-season bow of Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars on Friday.

Integrated into the WE tv app, GIF Sync is designed to servue up real-time shareable GIFs, memes and a dedicated feed of show-related tweets during linear airings of WE's original fare. Its' debut follows the rollout of “WE-D,” the first-ever TV series application of 360-degree camera technology that allows viewers to see alternate views of a WE tv original series in real time, on mobile devices.

GIF Sync is available within the newly redesigned WE tv app, accessible by iOS and Android-enabled devices, and utilizes Audible Magic ACR technology to sync a viewer’s mobile device with the linear network.  Once a device is synced, viewers will receive GIFs and memes taken directly from scenes of original episodes as they happen and will be able to share them instantly on a variety of social platforms. The app also features a real-time feed of all #MarriageBootCamp tweets, allowing users to experience and further participate in the social conversation happening around the show.
