WE tv next month will launch the sixth and final season of its reality documentary series Mary Mary.

The series, which chronicles the lives of sisters Erica and Tina Campbell of the gospel music group Mary Mary, will debut its sixth season Sept. 28, said network officials.

The fifth season of Mary Mary reached 12.7 million total viewers and was the top cable program in its time slot among African-American Women 25-54, according to WE tv. 

Mary Mary is produced by Entertainment One and executive produced by the Campbell sisters along with Tara Long, John Morayniss, Mark Herwick, Lauren Gellert, Kate Farrell, Lauren Lazin, Laura Halperin, and Mitchell Solarek.

“It’s been a privilege to chronicle the lives of gospel superstars Erica and Tina Campbell, better known as Mary Mary – who are truly rocks stars who rock everything they do, from family life to their wildly successful music careers,” said Lauren Gellert, executive vice president, development & programming for WE tv. “Mary Mary is a big part of why WE tv is a #1 cable network for African-American adults and women on Thursday nights and we are proud to have been the television home to these inspirational women for six amazing seasons.”

We tv’s gospel-themed reality series Mary Mary struck a chord with key demo groups in its March 5 season four premiere, the network said Tuesday.

The series, which follows the lives of the gospel music duo, averaged 1.3 million viewers in its season four premiere, which was on par with the show’s season three debut last year.

The show did post double digit increases among key groups compared to its season three debut including among adults 18-49 (up 27%), adults 25-54 (up 31%), women 18-49 (up 28%) and women 25-54 (up 34%), said network officials.

The episode was also the most watched cable telecast among all key African-American demos for the night, said WE.

 “We’re thrilled with the performance of Mary Mary and excited that our viewers continue to enjoy these genuine stories,” said Marc Juris, WE tv’s president in a statement.  “This season’s growth is a testament to the personally emotional and dramatically charged stories that Erica and Tina share, and which are the hallmarks of our unscripted series centered on authentic relationships and real life drama.”
