ESPN’s Marie Donoghue has been promoted to executive vice president, global strategy and original content.

Donoghue has been with ESPN since 1998. She served as senior vice president, business affairs and business development from 2007 until 2012, when she was promoted to senior vice president, global strategy and business affairs and business development.

Most recently, Donoghue led and helped launch ESPN’s new content unit Exit 31, which combined ESPN Films, Bill Simmons’ Grantland and Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight under one umbrella.

“Marie possesses that rare combination of strategic business acumen and creative content development skills,” said ESPN President John Skipper in a release. “Her expertise will be instrumental as ESPN continues to evolve.”
