A behind the scenes look at Super Bowl LIV's halftime show and the final run of TNT's drama series Animal Kingdom highlight a busy Father's Day week of premieres across cable networks and streaming services.

Netflix's June 14 debut of Halftime follows music superstar Jennifer Lopez as she prepares for her 2020 Super Bowl halftime performance with fellow artist Shakira.

TNT's Animal Kingdom debuts its sixth and final season on June 19. The 13-episode season, which follows the exploits of a criminal family enterprise, stars Sawn Hatosy, Jake weary, Ben Robson and Finn Cole. Also launching its final season is Hulu's dramedy series Love, Victor. The show's third season, which stars Michael Cimino, debuts June 15 on both Hulu and Disney Plus.

Hulu has renewed Love, Victor and Taste the Nation for second seasons, the network revealed at its virtual TCA session. Love, Victor is set in the world of the 2018 film Love, Simon. Michael Cimino, Ana Ortiz, James Martinez and Isabella Ferreira are in the cast. 

Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger executive produce along with Brian Tanen, Jason Ensler, Isaac Klausner, Marty Bowen, Adam Fishbach, Wyck Godfrey, Pouya Shahbazian and Adam Londy. 

Padma Lakshmi is behind Taste the Nation, which began in June. The series takes audiences on a journey across America exploring the diverse food culture of various immigrant groups. Lakshmi and Part2 Pictures’ David Shadrack Smith exec produce. 

“From renewals of fan and critic favorites Love, Victor and Taste the Nation, to exploring the true story of The Girl From Plainville and learning about David Chang’s deeply personal view at what’s next for the restaurant industry in The Next Thing You Eat, Hulu’s slate of original programming has never been stronger,” said Craig Erwich, senior VP of originals, Hulu. “Our content is driven by highly curated programming from best-in-class talent, and Hulu is dedicated to continuing to tell unique and inspired stories that our viewers crave.”

Hulu shared that it has over 35 million subscribers. 

Selena Gomez has joined the cast of Only Murders in the Building, along with Steve Martin and Martin Short. Gomez is an executive producer too, along with Martin, Short, John Hoffman, Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal.

Hulu has ordered straight-to-series originals The Girl From Plainville, starring Elle Fanning, and docuseries The Next Thing You Eat, which comes from David Chang and Morgan Neville. The Girl From Plainville is inspired by a real-life “texting-suicide” case. The Next Thing You Eat explores “the seismic changes happening around us” and how they affect our relationship with food. 

Eater’s Guide to the World, with Maya Rudolph narrating, debuts Nov. 11. 

Anthology series Monsterland, inspired by Nathan Ballingrud’s “North American Lake Monsters,” debuts Oct. 2. Documentary I am Greta, about Greta Thunberg, premieres Nov. 13. 

Animaniacs returns Nov. 20. Steven Spielberg returns to executive produce. 

No Man’s Land, looking at the Syrian civil war, begins Nov. 18. 

Hulu has renewed its drama Love, Victor for a second season, the streaming service announced Friday.

The series, which ranked as the most watched drama on Hulu during its premiere week this past June, continues to follow the exploits of high school student Victor (Michael Cimino) on his own journey of self-discovery, according to the streaming service.

The series, produced by 20th Century Fox Television, also stars Ana Ortiz, James Martinez, Isabella Ferreira, Mateo Fernandez, and Rachel Naomi Hilson.

Hulu also renewed its food-themed unscripted series Taste the Nation, hosted by Padma Lakshmi. In its sophomore season, the series will continue to take audiences on a journey across America exploring the rich and diverse food culture of various immigrant groups, seeking out the people who have so heavily shaped what American food is today, said Hulu. 

HBO will premiere its re imagining of the classic Perry Mason drama series while Showtime and AMC bring back two of its most popular series during the week heading into the official start of summer.

HBO’s Father’s Day (June 21) premiere of Perry Mason will resurrect the character made famous by actor Raymond Burr in the series that ran on CBS in the late fifties and early sixties. In the reboot, Mason is played by Matthew Rhys (The Americans) who, as a young private investigator, works on a child kidnapping case.

Series returning this week include the June 21 premieres of Showtime’s The Chi and AMC’s NOS4A2, as well as the June 17 second season debut of Netflix comedy series Mr. Iglesias.

Fox 2000 LGBTQ-themed film Love, Simon is being spun-off into a 10-episode series launching on Hulu in June (which is also Pride Month).

The streaming series, which will be called Love, Victor, was originally slated to launch on Disney Plus. According to Variety, The Walt Disney Company switched it from its more "family friendly" Disney Plus to its other SVOD platform, Hulu.  

Love, Victor's title character, played by actor Michael Cimino, is a new student at Creekwood High, the same school featured in the movie. Victor, according to Hulu's synopsis, is “on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city and struggling with his sexual orientation."

“Love, Victor is funny, heartfelt and deeply affecting, and we were incredibly taken with the project,” said Craig Erwich senior VP Originals, Hulu.

The cast also includes James Martinez, Ana Ortiz, Isabella Ferreira and Mateo Fernandez. Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, original writers of the film will executive produce and serve as show-runners. The film's star, Nick Robinson will narrate and executive produce.

Love, Simon was released March 16, 2018 and grossed $66.3 million globally, according to Box Office Mojo.
