Multicultural Perspectives is a new podcast extension of the original video series of the same name from Multichannel News and Broadcasting + Cable that shines a spotlight on executives and celebrities of color making significant and groundbreaking contributions to the entertainment industry. 

A special flashback episode of Multicultural Perspectives shines a light on social media sensation Liza Koshy, whose YouTube scripted series Liza On Demand launches its third and final season Oct. 13. In a 2020 discussion with Multichannel News’ R. Thomas Umstead, the television and film star talks about the series as well as her future aspirations as a media star and influencer.

YouTube has greenlit a third season of its scripted series, Liza On Demand, part of a slate of original series, documentaries and specials announced during the company’s Television Critics Association Tour session Saturday.

Liza On Demand stars YouTube star Liza Koshy and follows the exploits of Koshy and her roommates as she takes on various tasks and odd jobs while trying to get ahead, said the company.

YouTube also announced that it will partner with magician David Blaine for a live event later this fall.

Other YouTube TCA announcements include a six-part documentary series that focuses on the last 50 years of Women’s Gymnastics debuting this summer; Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert which debuts March 31 and looks at two decades of performances and behind-the-scenes stories from the influential music festival; and Justin Bieber: Seasons, a 10-episode documentary series premiering Jan. 27 that chronicles the making of the singer’s new album as well as a behind the scenes look at Bieber’s private life. 

The 2019-20 Fall TV season officially kicks off this week with several cable and streaming services debuting shows as the broadcast networks launch their new and returning series.

Epix’s drama series Godfather of Harlem debuts Sept. 29, and stars Forest Whitaker as notorious gangster Bumpy Johnson, who looks to take back the Harlem underworld in the late 1960s after a long jail stint.

Streaming service Shudder on Sept. 26 will launch a reboot of the classic horror anthology series Creepshow, while Amazon Prime Video on Sept. 27 debuts a special musical finale for its Emmy-winning series Transparent.
