Small Business Administration administrator Linda McMahon is exiting the agency.

McMahon is co-founder and former CEO of TV wrestling empire WWE.

As co-founder of WWE, she helped grow that small business from a 13-person staff to a publicly traded global business with more than 800 employees.

McMahon also ran for the U.S. Senate a couple of times in Connecticut but did not win. (She and her daughter, Stephanie McMahon, have also been MCN Wonder Women.)

“Administrator McMahon has been a fierce advocate for America’s small businesses during her tenure as SBA Administrator,” said Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), chairman of the Small Business Committee. “Under her stewardship, optimism among America’s small business has soared as a result of this administration’s pro-growth, pro-worker policies. I thank her for her exemplary service and wish her luck in her future endeavors. Finding a successor as passionate as Administrator McMahon will be a challenge, but I stand ready to work with the administration to find someone who shares her vision and continues to bring real world business experience to the SBA.”

WASHINGTON — The Senate Small Business Committee has approved Linda McMahon, cofounder and former CEO of TV wrestling empire WWE, as the administrator of the Small Business Administration.

While Tuesday was filled with moves to block President Donald Trump's cabinet picks, the vote for McMahon was 16 to zero and her nomination now goes to the Senate for a vote with the recommendation of the committee for confirmation.

Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Ohio), House Small Business Committee chairman, praised the move.

“As Linda demonstrated in her hearing last week, she will be a tremendous advocate for our nation’s 28 million small businesses and the absolute right person to lead the SBA," said Chabot.

At that Jan. 24 hearing, McMahon told the panel that as an entrepreneur, she had shared the experiences of small business owners, “the engines of our national economy,” while putting food on the table or braces on their children’s teeth.

She said she would advocate on their behalf if confirmed and said she was proud of growing WWE into a global business and knew what it was like to “take a risk on an idea.”

The Senate Small Business Committee has scheduled a Jan. 24 confirmation hearing for the nomination of Linda McMahon, cofounder and former CEO of TV wrestling empire WWE, as administrator of the Small Business Administration, a cabinet level position.

The hearing will be at 10:30 a.m.

House Small Business Committee chairman Steve Chabot (R-Ohio) praised the pick.

“Linda McMahon is an excellent choice by President-elect Trump to lead the SBA as administrator," Chabot said. "I look forward to working with her and the new administration to roll back burdensome regulations and increase access to capital for America’s 28 million small businesses. Our Committee will work with the new administrator to advance meaningful reforms that will make the SBA more efficient and customer-friendly for small businesses. This work should begin by fixing the ongoing problems in SBA and SBA-administered programs that were exposed through our oversight hearings in the 114th Congress.”
