Showtime’s late-night talk show Desus & Mero will not return for a fifth season after the two hosts decided to go their separate ways, the network confirmed.

“Showtime’s late-night talk show Desus & Mero will not be returning for a fifth season,” a Showtime spokesman said. “Desus Nice and The Kid Mero will be pursuing separate creative endeavors moving forward.”

The show’s final episode debuted June 25. The series debuted on Showtime in 2019 as the premium service’s first talk show, and over its four-season run the series featured interviews with numerous celebrities and politicians including Denzel Washington, President Barack Obama and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“Desus Nice and The Kid Mero have made a name for themselves in comedy and in the late-night space as quick-witted cultural commentators,” Showtime said in its statement. “Throughout its run, the series won a WGA Award, received Critics’ Choice and TCA Award nominations and scored interviews with President Barack Obama, President Joe Biden, Derek Jeter, Missy Elliott, Denzel Washington, Charlize Theron, David Letterman, Yo-Yo Ma and many more. They have been brilliant hosts, and we wish them the best, along with the team at JAX Media and the incredible crew.”

In a Tweet Monday Nice thanked Showtime and the followers of the show and the duo’s popular Bodega Boys podcast for their support over the years.

Seth Meyers, host of Late Night with Seth Meyers, has renewed his deal with NBC to host the program through 2025. In addition, Meyers’ and Mike Shoemaker’s production company, Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions, has an overall deal with Universal Studio Group through 2025.

Late Night has been nominated for an Emmy for outstanding writing in a variety series the last four years.

HBO will team with comedian Sarah Silverman for a new stand-up comedy special and late-night series pilot order, the network announced Monday.

Silverman -- whose 2013 HBO comedy special Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles, won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special -- will develop a late night series for the premium channel, which she described as “weighing in on the mishigas of the week and taking live video calls,” according to the network.

“Sarah is truly a comedic force of nature and we’re so happy to have her back on HBO,” said Nina Rosenstein, executive vice president, HBO Programming.

Most recently, Silverman served as creator, executive producer and host of the Emmy-nominated Hulu talk series I Love You, America and she is currently in production on the Universal comedy Marry Me.

Silverman, Judd Apatow and Amy Zvi will serve as executive producers on the pilot for the series. Additional credits for the pilot and the stand-up special will be announced soon, according to HBO.

Freeform will jump into the late-night waters in May with a weekly series starring comedian Iliza Shlesinger.

 The series, Truth & Iliza, will debut May 2 and feature Shlesinger as she focuses each episode around a themed question which she will seek to answer using audience interaction, field pieces, commentary and jokes, said network officials.

Executive producers for Truth & Iliza include Shlesinger, Jon Thoday, Richard Allen-Turner, David Martin, Kara Baker and Kim Gamble, said the network.
