Fox News on Monday said it is revamping its daytime lineup beginning Monday, Jan. 18. 

Under the new schedule, Bill Hemmer Reports host Bill Hemmer will team with Dana Perino to host a two-hour edition of America’s Newsroom beginning at 9 a.m. At 11 a.m., Harris Faulkner will host a new show The Faulkner Focus, followed by her current news roundtable series Outnumbered at noon. 

At 1 p.m., network White House Correspondent John Roberts will join current America’s Newsroom host Sandra Smith for a new two-hour program, America Reports, while The Story, hosted by Martha MacCallum, will air at 3 p.m., followed by Your World with Neil Cavuto at 4 p.m. and The Five at 5 p.m.

Special Report With Bret Baier will remain in the 6 p.m. time slot, with a new series, Fox News Primetime, premiering at 7, where MacCallum's show is currently. The network will rotate a group of Fox News opinion hosts for the show before eventually settling on a permanent opinion host.

Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement that the new schedule “ensures Fox News Media will continue to deliver outstanding coverage for our viewers who depend on the most trusted names in the business.”

Fox News has signed veteran on-air reporter John Roberts to a new multi-year deal as the network’s chief White House correspondent, the network said Tuesday.

As part of the new deal, Roberts -- who joined Fox News in 2011-- will continue to cover the White House -- specifically the president’s domestic and international activities -- across Fox News programming, according to network executives.

“John is one of the best journalists in all of news … his extensive reporting, featuring decades of experience and exceptional journalism skills at the White House and on the campaign trail during an unprecedented year, have contributed to the network’s unrivaled political coverage at a key moment in time,” said Suzanne Scott, CEO of FOX News Media in a statement. “We look forward to his continued contributions for many years to come.”

The political, and thus media coverage, agenda has been teed up for the Senate trial of President Donald Trump. 

After being sworn in to preside over the trial Thursday (Jan. 16), then swearing in the Senators, who will hear evidence presented by House impeachment managers, Chief Justice John Roberts adjourned the Senate until Tuesday, 1 p.m. (Jan. 21), when the trial of the President will begin.

As expected, the major broadcast and cable news operations covered both swearing-in ceremonies live as they prepare to chronicle only the third impeachment trial of a President in U.S. history, and the first one that will be widely streamed. 

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) laid out what could and would be happening, procedurally between now and Tuesday. 

The President will have until until 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, to answer the charges--abuse of power and obstruction of Congress and, if he wants to file a trial brief, must do it by noon Monday, Jan. 20. The House, whose impeachment managers are prosecuting the case against the President, can rebut his brief, have only until noon Tuesday to do so. 

While it is not clear whether witnesses will make an appearance at the trial--which White House officials have said should not last more than two weeks--likely making an unusual appearance on in the Senate Chamber could be TV sets on which to display video evidence. 

John Roberts has been named chief White House correspondent for Fox News Channel, effective inauguration day (Jan. 20).

Roberts joined FNC in 2011 from CNN's American Morning, and has been FNC's senior national correspondent, based in Atlanta.

"Donald Trump's presidency will be the predominant news story worldwide in the next four years," said Roberts. "I am honored that Fox News has allowed me a front-row seat to history as it all unfolds."

Roberts covered the Trump campaign for the news channel. Chief White House correspondent Ed Henry was pulled off the beat "to work things out" back in May following a tabloid story about his alleged affair with a Las Vegas hostess.

Henry returned to the network in August as chief national correspondent, based in Washington.
