Apple TV Plus’s Emmy Award-winning drama series The Morning Show will return to the streaming service for its third season on September 13.

The 10-episode third season will continue to follow the exploits of the on-air personalities and staff of a network morning-news show. The series stars Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston.

Apple TV Plus described the third season as one in which the future of the network is thrown into question and loyalties are pushed to the brink when a tech titan takes an interest. “Unexpected alliances form, private truths are weaponized and everyone is forced to confront their core values both in and out of the newsroom,” Apple TV Plus said.

Along with Aniston and Witherspoon, the series stars Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Greta Lee, Jon Hamm, Nicole Beharie and Julianna Margulies.

The Morning Show is executive produced by Aniston, Witherspoon, Michael Ellenberg, Kristin Hahn, Lauren Neustadter, Mimi Leder and Charlotte Stoudt.

Episodes of The Facts of Life and Diff’rent Strokes will be performed when ABC’s next installment of Live in Front of a Studio Audience airs Dec. 7. Jennifer Aniston plays rich girl Blair in The Facts of Life, Gabrielle Union portrays Tootie, Allison Tolman is Natalie and Kathryn Hahn is Jo. Ann Dowd will play Mrs. Garrett. 

“I cannot imagine a better group than Jennifer Aniston, Allison Tolman, Gabrielle Union, Kathryn Hahn and Ann Dowd, and I can’t wait to do their hair,” executive producer Jimmy Kimmel said.

For Diff’rent Strokes, John Lithgow plays Mr. Drummond, Kevin Hart is Arnold and Damon Wayans portrays Willis. Dowd will again play Mrs. Garrett, housekeeper in the Drummond home before she set off to oversee the house on Facts of Life. 

Dick Clair and Jenna McMahon created The Facts of Life. Bernie Kukoff and Jeff Harris created Diff’rent Strokes. 

Norman Lear, Jimmy Kimmel, Brent Miller, Kerry Washington, Will Ferrell, Justin Theroux and Jim Burrows are the executive producers. Kimmelot, ACT III Productions, Gary Sanchez Productions, D’Arconville, Simpson Street and Sony Pictures Television produce Live in Front of a Studio Audience.

All in the Family and Good Times are some of the shows previously performed in the series. ■

Season two of The Morning Show, about workplace dynamics at an a.m. TV program, premieres on Apple TV Plus Sept. 17. Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are in the cast, and executive produce the series. 

There are ten episodes, which premiere each Friday. 

The new season finds the Morning Show team emerging from the wreckage of Alex (Aniston) and Bradley’s (Witherspoon) actions, to a new UBA and “a world in flux, where identity is everything and the chasm between who we present as and who we really are comes into play,” according to Apple TV Plus. 

Steve Carell, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Bel Powley, Desean Terry, Janina Gavankar, Tom Irwin and Marcia Gay Harden are also in the cast. Julianna Margulies joins the cast as a news anchor. 

Kerry Ehrin developed the show and is showrunner. Ehrin executive produces with Michael Ellenberg through Media Res, which is the producing studio, along with Jennifer Aniston and Kristin Hahn through Echo Films; Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter through Hello Sunshine; and Mimi Leder, who also directs several episodes. 

HBO Max Wednesday revealed the official trailer for its much-anticipated special, Friends: The Reunion during its virtual upfront presentation.

The special, which debuts on the streaming service May 27, reunites the six stars of the iconic 1990s series -- Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer -- for a real-life, unscripted celebration of the show. The Friends comedy series ran on NBC from 1994-2004.

Friends executive producers Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane serve as executive producers of Friends: The Reunion along with Ben Winston.

Apple TV+ provided a first look trailer for its new original series The Morning Show, set to debut this fall on the new streaming service.

The series stars Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell, and takes an inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning on a television news show, according to the company.

Aniston and Witherspoon also serve as executive producers on the show along with Michael Ellenberg, Kerry Ehrin and Mimi Leder

Netflix continues to add to its collection of library titles with the acquisition of 1990s comedy series Friends, the OTT service announced Wednesday.

Netflix will have access to all 10 seasons of the iconic Warner Bros./NBC series, starring Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, said Network officials.

While the series is currently in syndication, it’s the first time all 236 episodes and 83 hours of  the Bright/Kauffman/Crane Productions-produced Friends series will be available on a streaming subscription service.

Friends will debut on Netflix beginning Jan. 1, 2015, said Netflix officials.
