Cable networks and streaming services will offer several new series and documentaries for viewers to peruse during the Memorial Day holiday week.

Prime video's drama series Homecoming will return May 22 for a second season with a new mystery-themed storyline, according to the streaming service. The new season stars Janelle Monáe (pictured) as a young woman who wakes up in a rowboat that's adrift in a lake with no memory of who she is or how she got there. 

Nat Geo will debut its new drama series Barkskins on Memorial Day (May 25). The series follows a group of settlers traveling from France to the uncharted land of North America during the 17th century. RELATED: Series Review

Drama Homecoming is back with season two on Amazon Prime Video May 22. Singer Janelle Monae is in the second season. 

“Her character wakes in a rowboat adrift in a lake, with no memory of how she got there—or even who she is,” Amazon said in a statement. “Her ensuing search for identity will lead her into the heart of the Geist Group, the unconventional wellness company behind the Homecoming Initiative.”

Stephan James, Hong Chau, Chris Cooper and Joan Cusack are also in the cast. 

The showrunners and executive producers are Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg, who are also the creators of the Gimlet Media podcast upon which the show is based. Kyle Patrick Alvarez, also an executive producer, directs all the new episodes. 

Julia Roberts executive produces for Red Om Films, Sam Esmail exec produces for Esmail Corp and Chad Hamilton for Anonymous Content. Chris Giliberti, Alex Blumberg and Matt Lieber of Gimlet Media also executive produce.

Homecoming is co-produced by Amazon Studios and UCP, a division of NBCUniversal Content Studios.

Netflix's April 17  music documentary Homecoming starring Beyoncé is one of several new and returning series hitting television screens this week.

The Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé special chronicles the R&B singer's 2018 Coachella performance, according to the streaming service.

Series debuting this week include Netflix's No Good Nick (April 15), and Hulu's April 19 comedy RAMY.

Amazon Thursday released the official trailer for its new drama series Homecoming, starring Julia Roberts.

Roberts portrays Heidi Bergman, a caseworker at a facility helping soldiers transition back to civilian life. Years later after leaving the job, a Department of Defense auditor comes to her with questions about why she left the facility. The visit forces Heidi to realize that there’s a whole other story behind the story she’s been telling herself, according to Amazon. 

Bobby Cannavale, Stephan James and Sissy Spacek also star in the series, which is set to premiere on the Prime Video streaming service Nov. 2, said Amazon. 

Based on the podcast of the same name, Homecoming was created by Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg, and directed by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail.
