HBO Max Drops Trailer for ‘The Immortal’ Original Movie

HBO Max has released a video trailer for The Immortal (L’Immortale), the feature film spin-off from international drama series Gomorrah.

The film, which debuts July 29, follows Naples mobster “Ciro Di Marzio” (Marco D'Amore) in Riga, Latvia, where he turns a low-level counterfeit goods syndicate into a major drug trafficking enterprise — despite the incalculable risks, according to HBO Max.

After reuniting with his first mentor “Bruno” (Salvatore D'Onofrio) and receiving his latest mission, an exiled Ciro is left to fearlessly confront whatever comes his way, navigating a new chapter of gang warfare while grappling with devastating memories of loss and trauma, said the streaming service.

The Immortal follows HBO Max's streaming of Gomorrah's fourth season on HBO Max this past May. Both titles are based on the book Gomorra by Roberto Savino.

‘Gomorrah’ Season Four on HBO Max May 20

Season four of Italian underworld drama Gomorrah is on HBO Max May 20. Genny, played by Salvatore Esposito, is the focus of the new season as the lone Savastano dynasty survivor.

“The new season sees him on his best behavior precisely for the sake of Azzurra (Ivana Lotito) and little Pietro: with his own family to protect and an activity to reboot, he feels the need for a major life change, committing to legit business while sneaking out, as best he can, from the world his father had him grow up in,” said HBO Max.

Genny’s interests in Naples are now entrusted to Patrizia (Cristiana Dell’Anna) who, having first betrayed and then killed Scianel, former female leader of The Alliance, has risen up within the Savastano clan.

Arturo Muselli and Loris De Luna are also in the cast.

Season three was on HBO Max in January. All of season four is available to subscribers May 20.

Based on an idea by author Roberto Saviano, the fourth season is produced by Cattleya, part of ITV Studios, Sky and Fandango, in collaboration with Beta Film. Gomorrah’s executive producers are Cattleya’s Riccardo Tozzi, Gina Gardini, Giovanni Stabilini and Marco Chimenz; and Nils Hartman and Sonia Rovai for Sky. Stefano Bises, Leonardo Fasoli, Maddalena Ravagli and Roberto Saviano developed the series.

HBO will premiere the second special from its Emmy-winning drama series Euphoria during a busy week for returning series premieres.

HBO’s Jan. 24 special, Euphoria: F*&k Anyone Who’s Not a Sea Blob, is the second holiday episode of the freshman drama series starring Emmy Award winning actress Zendaya.

The episode follows Jules (Hunter Schafer) over the Christmas holiday as she reflects on the year, according to HBO.

‘Gomorrah’ Season Three Launches on HBO Max in January

Season three of Italian crime drama Gomorrah is on HBO Max Jan. 21. The subtitled show, a “Max original,” in the streamer’s words, comes from a book by Roberto Saviano.

Gomorrah, depicting the Naples underworld, is set in the 2010s. Marco D’Amore, Salvatore Esposito, Fortunato Cerlino and Maria Pia Calzone are in the cast.

Season three sees Genny (Esposito) take control over Naples and Rome. Two women within his network rise to power: drug dealer Annalisa (Cristina Donadio) and foot soldier Patrizia (Cristiana Dell’Anna). When Ciro (D’Amore) forms a partnership with the young and ambitious Enzo (Arturo Muselli), Ciro gets back in the game. “The former street-level drug dealers cast their net far beyond the city of Naples and the borders of Italy,” said HBO Max. “Genny, Ciro and Enzo are about to make peace, when Enzo demands a sacrifice.”

The first two seasons are currently on HBO Max. Produced by Sky Atlantic, Gomorrah previously streamed on Netflix.

TCA17: SundanceTV Sets Series Premiere Dates

Pasadena--SundanceTV will bring back its sophomore dramedy series Hap And Leonard in March as part of its lineup of new and returning series in 2017, the network said during its Television Critics Association press tour event Friday.

Hap and Leonard: Mucho Mojo will debut its six-episode second season March 15, according to network officials. The series will continue to follow the exploits of best friends Hap Collins (James Purefoy) and Leonard Pine (Michael Kenneth Williams).

Also returning this Spring is drama Gomorrah, which will launch its sophomore campaign April 26.

“SundanceTV continues to distinguish itself as a home for unique and compelling stories from around the world,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV in a statement. “Our network has an exciting year ahead, starting with the return of our highest-rated original series, Hap and Leonard followed by the critically acclaimed Gomorrah. SundanceTV Gets Italian Crime Series 'Gomorrah'

SundanceTV has acquired the first two seasons of Italian crime drama Gomorrah from The Weinstein Company (TWC). The series, based on the novel by Roberto Saviano, focuses on the inside story of the Camorra, the fierce Neapolitan crime organization, and is told through the eyes of the right-hand man of the godfather.

Gomorrah’s first season, comprised of 12 episodes, will premiere on SundanceTV in summer 2016.
