                                <figure class="van-image-figure pull-" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' ><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:56.25%;"><img id="KkFheQSSJgL93bB6P5tc4o" name="" alt="" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/KkFheQSSJgL93bB6P5tc4o.jpg" mos="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/KkFheQSSJgL93bB6P5tc4o.jpg" align="" fullscreen="" width="" height="" attribution="" endorsement="" class="pull-"></p></div></div></figure><p>Cox Communications confirmed that it is preparing to launch Glosi, a Hispanic-focused subscription video streaming service that will feature “thousands of hours of exclusive content and original programming.”</p><p>The new multiscreen service, being developed via a unit called Glosi Entertainment LLC, is expected to launch in pilot mode this August. <a href="http://www.donohuereport.com/cox-building-original-spanish-network/"><em>The Donohue Report</em> first reported on Cox’s new OTT offering</a>.</p><p>Glosi is current offering special pre-launch pricing ahead of the pilot debut.</p><p>According to the service’s web site, Glosi will regularly sell for $9.99 per month, or $7.99 under a pre-launch price that also comes with a one-week free trial. Glosi is also offering a 40% discount off the regular price to the first 500 customers who agree to pre-pay for three months of service (plus two weeks for free) for $17.97.</p><p>Glosi has also set up <a href="https://www.facebook.com/GlosiHistorias/">Facebook</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/GlosiHistorias">Twitter</a> and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/GlosiHistorias/">Instagram</a> accounts.</p><p>Cox has not announced content partners for Glosi, but offered this statement about the service:</p><p>“Glosi is a Hispanic-focused video streaming service and online portal with thousands of hours of exclusive content and original programming. The ad-free, subscription-based destination allows multiple users on one account to stream, discover, and share their favorite shows. Glosi’s unique buzz section combines compelling content with the look and feel of a premium entertainment magazine, allowing subscribers access to behind the scenes exclusives, social media updates of cast and crew, and much more. Glosi will launch its pilot offer later in August.”</p><p>Glosi represents Cox’s latest OTT-focused move. Cox had previously offered or tested <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/cox-sparks-flarekids-app-393263" data-original-url="https://www.multichannel.com/news/cox-sparks-flarekids-app-393263"><strong>FlarePlay</strong></a> (an OTT subscription  gaming service), and <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/cox-takes-subscription-gaming-over-top-393131" data-original-url="https://www.multichannel.com/news/cox-takes-subscription-gaming-over-top-393131"><strong>FlareKids</strong></a> (a curated Web video offering tailored for youngsters), but announced in February that it was <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/cox-dousing-flare-product-line-402709" data-original-url="https://www.multichannel.com/news/cox-dousing-flare-product-line-402709">shutting down the Flare brand</a></p><p>Cox is also the latest MVPD to try its hand at an OTT-delivered SVOD service focused on Spanish-language programming.</p><p>DirecTV launched Yaveo in late 2014, but confirmed about a year later (and about five months after it was acquired by DirecTV) that it was shutting down Yaveo on Dec. 16, 2015.</p>
