Apple TV Plus’s Ted Lasso and Showtime’s Yellowjackets were among the big winners in the television category at Thursday night’s GLAAD Media Awards, held in Los Angeles.

Ted Lasso won the GLAAD Media Award for outstanding comedy series, while Yellowjackets won the award for outstanding drama series during the 35th annual awards ceremony, hosted by Wayne Brady. The GLAAD Media Awards honors exemplary achievements for fair, accurate and inclusive representation of  the LGBTQ community.

TV personality Oprah Winfrey garnered the organization’s Vanguard Award, while actress Niecy Nash-Betts was honored with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award. 

The March 14 event was the first of two GLAAD Media Awards events, with the second taking place May 11 in New York.

Pop TV’s Schitt’s Creek and FX’s Pose were the big winners among television programs  during the 31st annual GLAAD Media Awards ceremony.

Schitt’s Creek took home the Outstanding Comedy Series trophy, while FX’s Pose was the top choice in the Outstanding Drama Series category during the July 30 virtual ceremony of the awards, which honor media for fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people and issues.

“During this era of political and cultural division, LGBTQ images in media are crucial in accelerating acceptance for the LGBTQ community and countering the dangerous rise in anti-LGBTQ rhetoric,” said GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis in a prepared statement. “This year’s award recipients, including Pose and Schitt’s Creek, continue to bring necessary mainstream visibility to diverse voices within the LGBTQ community, ultimately raising the bar for LGBTQ inclusion and representation in media.”

Cable network Logo on Aug. 3 will air a taped version of the GLAAD Media Awards.

Freeform’s Shadowhunters and Amazon’s Transparent were the big winners at Saturday night’s 28th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles.

Shadowhunters won the award for Outstanding Drama Series while Transparent was the big winner in the Outstanding Comedy Series Category, according the organization. The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community.

USA Network’s Eyewitness also won an award for Outstanding TV Movie or Limited series, said the organization.

Additional awards will be presented at the GLAAD Media Awards event at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York on Saturday, May 6.
