Season three of Slow Horses, about a division of the U.K.’s M15 where staffers who foul up are sent to take on menial tasks and finish out their contracts, debuted November 29.

In Slow Horses, Oldman plays Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but irascible leader to a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 due to their career-ending mistakes. The series is a mordant farce of the smoke and mirrors world of espionage — and in season three, when a romantic affair in Istanbul threatens the future of the British spy agency, Lamb and his team of misfits are dragged into the fight.”

Horowitz hosts the podcast Happy Sad Confused, and will do a live taping with Oldman for the podcast December 8 at the 92nd Street Y. 

Slow Horses is an adaptation of Mick Herron's Slough House book series. Executive producers on Slow Horses are Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Will Smith, Jane Robertson and Graham Yost. 

Smith told B+C of the Herron books: “That mix of great spy storylines, action, humor and brilliant characters — this is something different and fresh and original. You could just tell it would make an amazing series.”

Apple TV Plus ordered two more seasons of drama Slow Horses, which has Gary Oldman leading the cast. The two subsequent seasons, which will be season three and season four, will be adapted from the next two novels in the Mick Herron spy series Slough House. 

The show premiered April 1. Season two is scheduled to debut later this year. 

Apple TV Plus calls the show “a darkly humorous espionage drama that follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping-ground department of MI5 known un-affectionately as Slough House.”

Oldman plays Jackson Lamb, irascible leader of the spies, who end up in Slough House due to their major mistakes on the job. 

Also in the cast are Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar and Christopher Chung.

Slow Horses is produced by See-Saw Films and adapted for television by Will Smith. Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Will Smith, Jane Robertson and Graham Yost are executive producers.

Apple TV Plus released a first look trailer for its spy drama Slow Horses, starring Gary Oldman and debuting on the streaming service April 1.

The series follows Oldman as he leads a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents known mostly for their career-ending mistakes through the ins and outs of the espionage world, according to Apple TV Plus.

Also starring in Slow Horses are Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Olivia Cooke, Saskia Reeves, Dustin Demri-Burns and Rosalind Eleazar. The series is executive produced by Graham Yost, Will Smith, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Gail Mutrux, James Hawes and Douglas Urbanski. ■
