The Southern California chapter of The WICT Network’s 28th Annual LEA Awards luncheon, held November 3 at The Beverly Hills Hotel, marked the return of a live ceremony for the first time since prior to the pandemic. The LEA Awards honors top-level women in the content and connectivity industries for the leadership, excellence and advocacy they’ve shown throughout their careers. Honored this year were Tara Duncan, president, Onyx Collective, The Walt Disney Co.; Wendy McMahon, president and CEO, CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures; Kia Painter, executive VP, chief people officer, Cox Communications; and Beatrice Springborn, president, UPC and Universal International Studios, NBCUniversal. Members of the content and connectivity industries gathered in New York during the week of September 18 for the annual Diversity Week events. The WICT Network’s Leadership Conference, the 37th Annual NAMIC Conference and The Walter Kaitz Foundation’s Annual Fundraising Dinner emphasized the industry’s valuing of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts to stay competitive in an evolving entertainment marketplace. NYC TV Week wound down with a party celebrating the 2023 New York-based “40 Under 40” honorees, recognizing a select group of emerging executives who are pushing the boundaries of innovation in the video industry. The daylong Hispanic Television Summit, held September 13 as part of NYC TV Week, featured experts exploring the multiple ways television programming engages Hispanic consumers with video content that is connected across platforms from streaming to broadcast to traditional pay TV. Keynotes, panels and presentations focused on advertising, viewer research, programming, content distribution, subscriber marketing. viewer promotions and content discovery. Visionaries and leaders from throughout the video industry gathered in New York on September 12 for the Next TV Summit, a daylong event featuring panels and keynotes on the latest trends, challenged predictive models, success stories and insights into the continued navigation of a historically disrupted TV content industry.
