Fox Weather Expands Simulcast Strategy on Fox Business Network

Fox Weather, the free ad-supported streaming network from Fox News Media, will begin to simulcast weekday mornings on Fox Business Network Monday, July 15, from 5-6 a.m. ET. Britta Merwin and Craig Herrera co-anchor Fox Weather First in that time slot.

It represents an expansion of Fox Weather’s simulcast strategy at Fox Business Network. Fox Weather has aired weekend morning content on FBN since December 2021.

Fox Weather correspondent Max Gorden will transition to a reporter role at FBN, taking over duties in the Los Angeles bureau previously held by Kelly O’Grady, who is now a New York-based correspondent for FBN. Gorden joined Fox Weather before it launched. Extreme weather events he has covered include Hurricane Hilary, which hit California in August 2023, and the wildfire outbreak in Hawaii that same summer.

Fox Weather launched in October 2021.

Fox Names Kevin Lord to HR Post

Kevin Lord has been named EVP of human resources for Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network and their digital outlets.

He assumes that post Jan. 16.

Most recently Lord was SVP and chief human resources officer for Tegna (formerly Ganett).

Before Tegna, Lord was EVP of human resources for NBC News, and prior to that was with former NBC parent GE.

"Kevin is an extremely well-rounded executive who recognizes the essential role that Human Resources plays, having held high profile positions at major media companies and GE," said network co-presidents Jack Abernethy and Bill Shine. "His long and impressive track record in this arena will be a valuable addition to our management team, and we look forward to him implementing key programs reflecting his core vision for employees.”

Republican Debate Draws More Than 1.1 Million Tweets

Fox Business Network’s Republican Presidential Debate telecast was a big hit on Twitter yesterday, drawing more than 1.1 million tweets last night, according to Nielsen.

The 1.19 million tweets for last night's debate reached a whopping 6 million unique Twitter users, according to Nielsen’s Twitter TV daily ratings, dwarfing the 72,000 tweets and 1.4 million unique Twitter users generated by second place finisher, NBC’ The Voice.

A total number of 13.5 million viewers tuned into the debate, co-sponsored by The Wall Street Journal.

Fox’s Scream Queens, ESPN’s 30 for 30 documentary and the CW’s The Flash rounded out the top five most social TV shows of the day, according to Nielsen.

Fox Business to Open Feed for Nov. 10 GOP Debate

Fox Business has reached deals with several distributors to open its feed to all subscribers to watch the network’s Nov. 10 Republican Presidential debate.

DirecTV, Suddenlink, Mediacom, Frontier, Wide Open West, Cable One and National Cable Television Cooperative members will unbundle Fox Business Network for the telecast, according to network officials. Fox Business is currently available in more than 70 million homes.

We are grateful that our distribution partners, like us at Fox Business Network, recognize the importance of providing the debate to as many subscribers as possible,” said Tim Carey, executive VP for distribution for Fox Business and Fox News Channel in a statement. “The debate falls at a pivotal time in the election cycle and through the help and support of these partners, many more of their customers will have access to it on November 10th."

Fox Business hopes to capitalize on the ratings momentum generated from three previous Republican debate telecasts. CNBC’s Republican Debate telecast last week drew a network-record 14 million viewers, while an August Fox News Republican debate drew a record 25 million watchers.
