Below is a snapshot of TV by the numbers for the week of June 12, highlighting the most-watched shows and networks using glass-level data from Vizio’s Inscape, and network and show TV ad impressions insights via iSpot.tv.

Most-Watched Shows and Networks

Via Inscape, Vizio’s TV data product with glass-level insights from a panel of more than 19 million active and opted-in smart TVs. Data is linear, live TV only and includes all episode types (new and reruns). Rankings are by percent share duration (i.e., time spent watching).

The NBA Finals remained appointment viewing as games three and four combined to secure 1.58% of all minutes watched from June 6-12. It’s the second straight week the series between the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors is No. 1 by watch-time among all programs.

Some additional insights about the top programming on TV:

• College baseball is a hit, with minutes watched climbing from No. 11 to No. 3 week-over-week as the postseason continues to narrow.
• Fox News programs Fox & Friends and America’s Newsroom end a one-week hiatus outside of the top 25 in our ranking, landing at No. 14 and No. 20 this week, respectively.
• Even after its season nine finale, Chicago P.D. climbs from No. 37 to No. 15 by watch-time as audiences catch up on ION and USA Network.
• Speaking of Chicago, Chicago Fire roars from No. 21 to No. 8 week-over-week, via its own ION and USA syndication play.

ABC stays atop the list of most-watched networks, in part due to the NBA Finals. The network had 7.30% of watch-time on the week, up slightly from 7.23% from May 30-June 5 as audiences also tuned into ABC’s coverage of the Jan. 6 hearings in primetime on Thursday.

Additional insights around the most-watched networks from June 6-12:

• USA springs from No. 16 to No. 12 by watch-time week-over-week, on a steady dose of syndicated procedurals plus WWE Monday Night Raw.
• MSNBC moves from No. 19 to No. 16 in our ranking, in part due to increased Thursday viewership around the Jan. 6 hearings.
• ESPN2 jumps from No. 32 to No. 17 week-over-week, via NCAA coverage including college baseball, the Women’s College World Series and the NCAA Track and Field Championships.
• The latest episode of Little People, Big World helped lift TLC from No. 20 to No. 17 week-over-week in our watch-time rankings.

Top Shows and Networks by TV Ad Impressions

Via iSpot.tv, the always-on TV ad measurement and attribution company. Rankings are by TV ad impressions, for new episodes only. 

As the NBA Finals continue, the series once again nets the most TV ad impressions on the week, with 2.08 billion – 4.8% of the total. That’s down slightly from the previous week (5.3% of the total) as the final minutes of each game have become increasingly one-sided in the series.

More data about the top programs by TV ad impressions:

• College baseball doubles impressions week-over-week as the field gets close to the final eight teams headed to Omaha for the College World Series.
• ABC World News Tonight With David Muir is one of several news programs to increase impressions week-over-week, along with Fox & Friends, America’s Newsroom and NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt, among others.
• Resuming its five-episodes-per-week schedule after taking Memorial Day off the previous week, The View sees impressions increase by 33.8% week-over-week.
• Speaking of news and talk shows, they made up 14 of the top 25 programs by impressions in our ranking for June 6-12.

ABC remains No. 1 in our ad-impressions-by-network ranking, with 14.14% of impressions on the week. The NBA Finals accounted for 33.5% of those as advertisers continue to benefit from a tight series through four games.

Additional insights around the top networks by impressions:

• Fox News increased impressions by more than 14% week-over-week.
• CNN and MSNBC both saw impressions leap thanks to Jan. 6 hearings coverage – as the former jumped by 10.8% and the latter by 31.8% week-over-week.
• Fox Sports 1 delivered more impressions on the week than Fox, via NASCAR Cup Series and UEFA Nations Cup action.
• CNBC hops from No. 26 to No. 20 in our ranking week-over-week, as stock market concerns continued to fuel greater interest in business-focused news.

Fox News will makeover its Saturday night primetime lineup beginning January 29 with the additions of new shows hosted by Lawrence Jones and Brian Kilmeade.

Lawrence Jones Cross Country will debut at 10 p.m. (ET) and feature newsmakers from across the political and cultural spectrum as they spotlight the leading concerns facing Americans nationwide, said network officials. Lawrence will continue to serve as enterprise reporter for the Fox & Friends franchise.

Kilmeade, who currently co-hosts Fox & Friends, will launch a new show at 8 p.m. that will provide perspective and context to the week’s major stories. Unfiltered with Dan Boningo will move to the 9 p.m. timeslot, said the network.

Kilmeade and Jones's shows fill the vacancies left with the departures of shows Justice with Judge Jeanine and Watters' World. Justice host Jeanine Pirro was recently named to co-host The Five, while Watters' World host Jesse Watters will host the network's weekday 7 p.m. timeslot.

Rachel Campos-Duffy has been named co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend. She starts Saturday, June 12, alongside co-hosts Pete Hegseth and Will Cain. 

A mother of nine, Campos-Duffy hosts Moms on Fox Nation and will begin hosting a podcast May 28 with her husband, Fox News contributor Sean Duffy. That is called From the Kitchen Table--The Duffys. 

Campos-Duffy joined FNC as a contributor in 2016 and has been a regular guest host on Fox & Friends, a panelist on Outnumbered and a rotating host on Fox News Primetime.

Fox also said Lawrence Jones has been named enterprise reporter at Fox & Friends. 

“The success of Fox & Friends can be attributed to the program covering stories Americans care about with relatable co-hosts and reporters they can trust,” said Suzanne Scott, CEO of Fox News Media. “Over the years, our audience has connected with Rachel and Lawrence through their frequent guest appearances and as fill-in hosts on the curvy couch. We are delighted to name them permanent fixtures on our signature morning franchise.”

Campos-Duffy was on MTV’s The Real World: San Francisco in 1994. She is the only Hispanic woman to co-host a cable news morning program, according to Fox News. 

“The Fox & Friends Weekend team is amazing and I look forward to hosting alongside my friends, Pete and Will every Saturday and Sunday,” said Campos-Duffy. “I am confident we’ll continue to deliver the number one-rated cable news morning show in America.”  

Jones joined Fox News Media in 2018. He hosts Keeping Up With Jones on Fox Nation. 

“I am excited to take on a new role as enterprise reporter across the Fox & Friends franchise and continue my feature reporting on the ground, following the news wherever it may take me,” said Jones.

Another former White House official has joined Fox News.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be a contributor across all Fox News platforms, according to Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott.

His first appearance will be Friday (April 9) on Fox and Friends, one of former President Trump's favorite shows while in office.

“Mike Pompeo is one of America's most recognized and respected voices on foreign policy and national security issues," said Scott. "I look forward to his contributions across our range of platforms to share his distinct perspective with our millions of viewers.”

Pompeo has plenty of D.C. experience to draw on. He is also the former director of the CIA and before that a four-term congressman from Kansas where he was a member of the intelligence committee.

The hosts of Fox & Friends returned to their studio in New York June 22 after more than three months of being remote amidst the pandemic. Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt and Brian Kilmeade host the Fox News Channel show. They remain socially distant on the set of the program.

“Live from New York City, ladies and gentleman,” Doocy said on the program. “After 100 days apart, we are all back in the studio again social distancing, but nonetheless it’s good to be back live in the big room. Brian’s right there and Ainsley’s right there. Thank you for joining us.”

Kilmeade noted how it’s easier to interact when all are in the same space. “This means when we have comments on each other, we no longer have a delay,” he said. “We can actually comment on what each other says.”

The set is on 6th Avenue in Manhattan. 

Earhardt made a point of thanking their production staff amidst the challenges of the past three months. “There were points of this where people were scared to come into the city and come into the studio and that’s why we did our home studios,” she said. “We all want to thank you all for sacrificing so much and still the show must go on.”

FCC Chairman Ajit Pai was taking a bit of a victory lap on Fox's morning show, Fox & Friends Wednesday (Oct. 2) after a federal court generally upheld his deregulation of Internet access. 

Asked on the show by host Brian Kilmeade about his "big victory," Pai agreed that was the case and gave his take on what the decision meant. 

Pai pointed to the Trump Administration's generally deregulatory philosophy and said the FCC had "followed that." (Fox and Friends is a favorite of President Trump). 

He said that the court had upheld the FCC's 2017 decision to reverse Obama-era "heavy-hnaded, utility-style regulations on the internet, which he said treated the internet as a slow-moving utility like, say, Amtrak or a water company. He said that his FCC wanted the internet to move "fast" and for the markets "to determine how this technology develops." 

He told Kilmeade that the court had "upheld that decision broadly" and said the FCC was within its rights to treat the internet "using market-based principles." The court, pointing to Supreme Court precedent and deferring somewhat to the FCC's expertise, said the commission's deregulatory decisionmaking was generally on target--it had some issues with how that deregulation would impact public safety and lower-income Americans, but gave the FCC a chance to make that case, which it plans to. 

On the issue of speed, Pai said that internet speeds were up 40% since that 2017 deregulatory decision and broadband investment was up for the second year in a row. Pai has argued that the old regs depressed investment, though critics have said that was not the case. The court decided the FCC based that argument on substantial evidence. 

Pai said that with the court decision blessing his marketplace approach, it was "full steam ahead." 

FCC chair Ajit Pai has told Fox & Friends that net-neutrality protesters have "crossed a line" with hateful signs that target his children.

Fox News Channel reported Monday (Nov. 27) that demonstrators had been gathering outside Pai's home after last week's release of the order to reclassify ISPs as information services not subject to mandatory access regulations and to eliminate most of the bright-line network-neutrality rules.

Signs posted on the street outside the FCC chair's home included some naming his children and asking how his kids could look him in the eye as he was "murdering Democracy in cold blood," according to a tweet by one of Pai's neighbors that was cited in the Fox & Friends story.

“It certainly crosses a line with me,” Pai said on the show. “Families … should remain out of it, and [protesters should] stop harassing us at our homes. ... It was a little nerve-racking, especially for my wife, who’s not involved in this space.”

Former FCC chair Tom Wheeler also had protesters outside his home before he switched to a Title II approach to net-neutrality rules -- the approach Pai is now moving to roll back -- but the demonstrators were not threatening, and Wheeler even spoke with them and posed for a photo at one point.

Protesters had taken to Pai's street back in May, as well, after the FCC voted to propose the Title II rollback, but the tone of the newest protest had an uglier edge.

Pai chief of staff Matthew Berry also condemned -- by way of retweets -- some of the hateful and even racist messages aimed at Pai and his family by opponents of his proposal, including one that said he should get cancer and his family should be executed so they could not pass his genes on.

Former FCC chair Michael Copps, now a special advisor to Common Cause, is one of the strongest critics of Pai's proposal, but he told B&C that, as he tweeted over the Thanksgiving Day weekend, there is not a place for such hateful speech in the net-neutrality discussion, and anyone who directs it toward the current chair is no ally of his.

Copps added that when he was on the commission, he was concerned about hate speech and would like to see more done to rein it in, adding that given how much uncivil dialog is going on these days, the problem should be a little more obvious.

Fred Campbell, president of Tech Knowledge, which backs Pai's Title II rollback, stood up for the chair and against the protests.

“The repeated racist attacks against FCC chairman Ajit Pai and his family in their own home during the holiday weekend are horrific," he said. "The perpetrators of this villainy should be ashamed. These attacks aren’t net-neutrality advocacy. They are terrorism.”

Free Press president Craig Aaron distanced his group, which is strongly opposed to the Title II rollback, from the attacks on Pai and condemned the tenor and tactics.

"We don't condone this type of harassment. We believe in rigorous public debate," said Evan Greer, campaign director at Fight for the Future, which called for protests of the pending vote to roll back Title II. "People who care about this issue should be channeling their anger productively and calling on their lawmakers to take action to stop the FCC vote."
