Eric Ochoa's SUPEReeeGO may have grown a little bit bigger, thanks to the launch of a new "follow documentary" series set to debut in late spring on Univision digital property Flama.

Becoming a Luchador was unveiled on March 15 in Austin, Texas, as part of a sneak preview at Univision Digital’s session at SXSW Interactive. 

The six-part series, which will be housed on TheFlama.com and on Univision’s YouTube and Facebook pages, follows Ochoa as he attempts to master the moves used by the stars of lucha libre (Mexican professional wrestling) via an intensive one-month course, culminating with a live match against an actual luchador.

The trials and tribulations of Ochoa’s lucha training will also be captured through four vlog-style episodes on his YouTube channel, which boasts more than 2 million subscribers and 400 million video views, making him one of the most popular Latinos on YouTube.

The Univision Creator network is a curated network of content producers from YouTube, Vine, Snapchat and other platforms designed to foster emerging influencers while providing consumers with diverse content. It is also designed to provide brand-integration opportunities to advertisers.

Adding more millennials-focused fare to the mix, Sling TV has added Newsy and Flama to its core, $20 per month “Best of Live TV” package.

Newsy, acquired by  E.W. Scripps’s in 2013 for $35 million, offers a blend of on-demand coverage spanning world and national news, culture, technology, science, and policy. Univision and Bedrocket launched Flama, a digital network  focused on young Latino audiences, in April 2014.

Distribution on Sling TV will expand Newsy’s and  Flama’s reach. Dish Network no longer breaks out how many of its video subs are on Sling TV, but The Wall Street Journal  reported last month that the OTT-TV service has more than  600,000 subscribers.  Sling TV launched nationally in February 2015.

"Launching Newsy on Sling TV brings our brand of news for younger Americans to a platform that is catering to those who don't subscribe to traditional pay TV," said Blake Sabatinelli, general manager of Newsy, in a statement. "Sling TV subscribers are a perfect fit for the unique take on news and entertainment that we provide. Our team's approach to bringing context to the day's big stories adds much-needed perspective viewers won't get from old-school news brands."

Newsy’s other distribution outlets also include Watchable, Comcast’s new OTT video service skewed to younger audiences, Pluto TV and Xumo, an OTT platform currently focused on smart TVs, with plans to extend access to Web browsers and mobile apps.  Newsy has also developed apps for iOS and Android mobile devices, Apple TV, Roku, Amazon’s Fire TV and is optimized for the Google Chromecast.

Flama, meanwhile, has gained access on several platforms, including Verizon’s go90 “mobile-first” OTT service.

Univision Communications' Flama service is now available on Conde Nast Entertainment's The Scene.

Under the deal, the bicultural video network for millennials, which is owned and operated by the U.S. Spanish-language media leader and Bedrocket Media Ventures, will make more than 100 original episodes accessible to The Scene. New content will be delivered on a weekly basis.

The pact is the second for Flama in recent weeks: Last month it reached a licensing arrangement with Hulu for five of its original series.

The partnership, financial terms of which were not disclosed, also calls for CNE and Flama to co-develop projects going forward.

Since launching on YouTube in December 2013 and as a stand-alone destination in April 2014, Flama has produced over 20 original series, including “Drop the Mic with Becky G” featuring hip hop singer Becky G (pictured); “Left Unattended with D-stroy” starring personality D-stroy Melendez; “Super Accurate Soccer History” highlighting all aspects of soccer for fans; “The Secret Life of Babes” starring model and internet sensation Lisa Ramos; and “Taking on America” which follows DJ Danny Avila and singer J Balvin. There is also an array of shorts.

For its part, The Scene features over 100 original digital series from Condé Nast brands including Glamour, GQ, Vogue, Wired, Vanity Fair, Teen Vogue, Style.com, Self, Allure, Golf Digest, Bon Appétit, Epicurious, Brides, Details, W and The New Yorker, as well as content from partners ABC News, Major League Soccer, Buzzfeed, PBS Digital Studios, The Weather Channel, Forbes, Jash, The Verge and Variety. 

Additionally, “The Scene Presents” features exclusive original series including “HeyUSA” featuring YouTube stars Gracie Helbig and Mamrie Hart, “We the Economy” produced by Morgan Spurlock and Paul G. Allen, “Burt’s Buzz” starring Burt’s Bees founder Burt Shavitz, “Those People” starring Carrie Kemper (“The Office”) and Hayes Davenport (“Eastbound & Down”), “#followme” starring Zac Posen, Coco Rocha, Odile Gilbert, Kabuki and Chiara Ferragni (The Blonde Salad) as they each uniquely experience Zac Posen’s show at New York Fashion Week, and “Cardboard Box Office” which brings the popular and creative blog to life for the first time.

Univision-owned over-the-top network Flama announced Friday that it will make five of its original series available to stream via Hulu. Series to be offered include Saving Lives (picutred), new episodes of which will appear weekly on Hulu, and all episodes of Taking on America, Drop the Mic with Becky G, Chachi’s Dance to Uforia andThe Bodega available immediately for binge viewing.

Flama is an English-language digital network launched by Univision and Bedrocket Media Ventures in 2013 and targeting Hispanic millennials.
