                                <p>Skinny bundled virtual pay TV service Philo announced the debut today of apps for Android mobile devices, as well as Amazon Fire Tablets.</p><p>The San Francisco-based start-up offers a selection of 58 live-streamed entertainment-focused cable channels, including AMC, A&E, BET, Comedy Central, Discovery, HGTV, MTV, Nickelodeon and Food Network, for $20 a month.</p><p>It was already available on the open internet via popular browsers like Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox, as well as through OTT devices including Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV.</p><p>Philo is privately funded to the tune of $83.2 million, with its content suppliers—Viacom, Discovery and Scripps among them—being the backers.</p><p>The virtual MVPD has not disclosed how many subscribers it has at this point. </p>

                                <figure class="van-image-figure pull-" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' ><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:56.25%;"><img id="GQFWoV3DYZPTcPt6M6bByA" name="" alt="" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/GQFWoV3DYZPTcPt6M6bByA.jpg" mos="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/GQFWoV3DYZPTcPt6M6bByA.jpg" align="" fullscreen="" width="" height="" attribution="" endorsement="" class="pull-"></p></div></div></figure><p>Sling TV, Dish Network’s OTT TV service for cord-cutters, has unleashed an updated <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ODC5N80">app that extends access to current versions of the Amazon Fire HD and HDX tablets.</a></p><p>That expansion complements Sling TV’s support of the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick,  Web browsers, iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, the Xbox One, Roku players and Roku TVs, and the Android TV-powered Nexus p layer.</p><p>Sling TV said that, for a limited time, it s offering  14-day free trial of the service to new Sling TV subs with an Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, Fire HDX 7, Fire HD 7 or Fire HD 6 tablet.</p><p>“Amazon customers now have more ways to access the best live and on-demand content TV has to offer today,” Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV, said in a statement “With the introduction of Sling TV on Amazon Fire HD and HDX tablets, millions of Amazon customers can now access their entertainment in and outside of the home.”</p><p>“We are thrilled to have Sling TV available to our Fire HD and HDX tablet customers,” said Steve Rabuchin, Vice President, Amazon Appstore.</p><p>“Since launching on Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Sling TV has been extremely popular with our customers and availability on Fire HD and HDX tablets makes it even more convenient for them to watch their favorite live television shows without a cable subscription,” added Steve Rabuchin, VP, Amazon Appstore.</p><p>Sling TV’s core package sells for $20 per month. It also offers several $5 per month add-on packs as well as HBO, which sells for $15 per month. </p>
