                                <figure class="van-image-figure pull-" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' ><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:56.25%;"><img id="Bw4CkoNjyoRkHw2J2SdYac" name="" alt="" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Bw4CkoNjyoRkHw2J2SdYac.jpg" mos="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Bw4CkoNjyoRkHw2J2SdYac.jpg" align="" fullscreen="" width="" height="" attribution="" endorsement="" class="pull-"></p></div></div></figure><p>Verizon said Fios TV subs can now use the Fios Mobile app to watch live TV and on-demand content, and access DVR recordings without eating into their data plans if they also get mobile phone service from the carrier.</p><p>Verizon recently joined rivals by <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/att-expands-unlimited-wireless-plan-410984" data-original-url="https://www.multichannel.com/news/att-expands-unlimited-wireless-plan-410984">adding an unlimited mobile data option</a>, but said the new data plan exempt capability brings more value to mobile tiers that are outfitted with monthly data plans.</p><p>The Fios Mobile App currently provides access to 140-plus live TV channels for viewing outside the home.</p><p>AT&T currently zero-rates DirecTV Now traffic that travels AT&T’s mobile network.</p><p>The FCC, under new chairman Ajit Pai, recently <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/wireless-bureau-zeros-out-zero-rating-report-410657" data-original-url="https://www.multichannel.com/news/wireless-bureau-zeros-out-zero-rating-report-410657">tossed out the Wireless Bureau's advisory</a> that AT&T’s zero-rated policy for DirecTV Now likely violates the FCC’s Open Internet order.</p>

                                <figure class="van-image-figure pull-" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' ><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:56.25%;"><img id="TSLcBj4sXN4uq9Wno6NSKF" name="" alt="" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/TSLcBj4sXN4uq9Wno6NSKF.jpg" mos="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/TSLcBj4sXN4uq9Wno6NSKF.jpg" align="" fullscreen="" width="" height="" attribution="" endorsement="" class="pull-"></p></div></div></figure><p>Verizon said it FiOS Mobile App now allows authenticated customers to stream 24 live channels from Viacom away from home, additions that follow a new carriage deal announced last October.</p><p>In addition to out-of-home rights for FiOS TV, that agreement also clears the way for a new, national wireless distribution deal.</p><p>Viacom channels now available via the app to FiOS TV subs out of the home include: BET Gospel, BET HD, Centric, CMT HD, CMT Pure Country, Comedy Central HD, Logo, MTV HD, MTV Hits, MTV Jams, MTV Tr3s, MTV U, MTV2, Nick 2, Nick Jr., Nick HD, Nick Toons, Palladia, Spike HD, Teen Nick, TV Land HD, VH1 Classic, VH1 HD and VH1 Soul.   </p><p>Verizon said FiOS subs can use the app to stream  88 linear TV channels out-of-home, and 168 (plus some local channels, which vary by region) in the home.  The app also features a VOD library of more than 70,000 titles.</p><p>To date, FiOS customers have spent more than 125 million hours using the FiOS Mobile App, which works on iOS and Android devices and Kindle Fire tablets, said Verizon, which ended 2014 with 5.64 million FiOS video subs.</p><p>“We’re excited to give our customers the ability to watch even more great live content from channels like Nick, Comedy Central and MTV in the palm of their hand, on the device of their choice, at home and on the go,” Ben Grad, executive director of content strategy and acquisition for Verizon, said in a statement.</p><p>“We are pleased to join the Verizon FIOS out-of-home lineup, continuing our push to be early partners with the most innovative platforms.  With this deal, we are mirroring the behavior of our audiences and capturing great value for our brands,” added Samantha Cooper, SVP, content distribution at Viacom.</p>

                                <p>Verizon released an update for its <a href="https://www.verizon.com/fiostv/myapps/unprotected/apps.aspx">Verizon FiOS Mobile app</a> that includes streaming of ESPN networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNEWS, ESPN U and ESPN Deportes) on mobile devices, the addition of Univision Deportes and some enhancements of its TV listings feature. (Update: a FiOS spokesman said the Univision Deportes app release was being held off while a glitch was being resolved.)</p><p>FiOS has recently been promoting on its own air the mobile app, along with plugs to buy its new <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/verizon-s-super-dvr-plays-ny-nj-374907" data-original-url="https://www.multichannel.com/news/verizon-s-super-dvr-plays-ny-nj-374907">Quantum TV</a> whole-home DVR service. And rival (in the New York City area) Cablevision Systems recently enhanced its Optimum App by adding out-of-home viewing of some channels.</p>
