E! will offer extensive multiplatform coverage of this month's fall edition of New York Fashion Week, the network said Monday.

The network will launch its coverage Sept. 10 with nightly stories on E! News from the top runway shows. A special episode of Fashion Police on Sept. 14 will feature guests and interviews, E! said, and a second special, Macy’s Presents Fashion’s Front Row, will premiere Sept. 23, serving as a wrap up show of the Fashion Week festivities.

On the digital front, E! Online will live-stream coverage from all the major shows, while the network’s social media platforms will offer up-to-the minute coverage of the catwalks.

“Fashion is a hugely influential part of the pop culture zeitgeist, and New York Fashion Week has become the defining event that the world looks to for the next styles and trends," said Adam Stotsky, general manager, E!, and president, Esquire Network. "As the pop culture powerhouse, E! delivers up-to-the minute news and information from this once exclusive event directly to our viewers on-air, online and across social, connecting not only with the fashion-forward audience but with all pop culture fans."

E! has put its troubled reality series Fashion Police on hiatus until September, the network said Tuesday night.

The series, which has suffered through a turbulent six months beginning with the death of its star Joan Rivers this past September and most recently the departures of co-stars Kathy Griffin and Kelly Osbourne, will return to the network in September after a "refresh" of the show.

"E!’s comedy series `Fashion Police' is going on hiatus and will return in September," said the network in a statement. "We look forward to taking this opportunity to refresh the show before the next awards season.  Our talented co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, along with Executive Producer Melissa Rivers, will continue their roles as we evolve the show into its next chapter for the legions of `Fashion Police' fans around the world."

Griffin, who filled in for the late Rivers, left the show last Thursday due to creative differences. Osbourne left the show in late February after a disagreement with show co-host Giuliana Rancic over comments Rancic made about actress Zendaya's dreadlocked hair during the network's Fashion Police Oscars special. 

E! said a record 1.1 million total viewers tuned in for the network's 90-minute special honoring the late Joan Rivers on Friday, Jan. 19.

Fashion Police: Celebrating Joan (8-9:30 p.m.) more than doubled the year ago time period (+127%).

“Joan Day,” an all-day marathon of Fashion Police episodes (7 a.m.-7 p.m.), also helped E! have its most-watched and highest-rated Friday in more than two years, the network said. Fashion Police was the second-most talked-about cable program of the day other than sports, E! said.

Fashion Police is carrying on after Rivers, returning as of Golden Globes time on Monday, Jan. 12.

Joan Rivers' final TV franchise, E!'s Fashion Police, will live on.

Two weeks after the death of the comedienne, E! announced Friday that Fashion Police will return to the network Jan. 12, timed to the Golden Globe Awards. There was no word whether Rivers would be replaced, or if any of the panelists -- Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos -- were returning or would be considered for the hosting role.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Joan Rivers and, for the last two weeks, have turned our attention to honoring her memory on all of our platforms,” E! said in a statement. “We have also thought long and hard about what Joan would have wanted as it pertains to the future of Fashion Police. We decided, with [Joan Rivers’ daughter] Melissa Rivers’ blessing, that Joan would have wanted the franchise to continue.”

The news came as the network was in the midst of a Rivers salute, with an a Fashion Police marathon, capped by the 90-minute special Fashion Police: Celebrating Joanat 8 p.m. (ET)

NBCUniversal cable networks E! Entertainment and Bravo will pay tribute to the late Joan Rivers this weekend.

E!, which over the past 20 years was home to various shows and specials with Rivers --  who died at age 81 on Thursday following complications from throat surgery, -- will honor her legacy with a one-hour E! News special, Joan Rivers: Celebrating An Icon, on Friday, Sept. 5 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT).

The special will be hosted by E! News’ Jason Kennedy and Catt Sadler, who will be joined throughout the hour by George Kotsiopoulos, Ken Baker and other members of the E! on-air family who knew Rivers. The one-hour show will include highlights from Rivers' career, including a look back at her early days, and at the tremendous outpouring of love and support from fans known as “Joan’s Rangers."

Among the events that will be showcased: her breakout performance on The Tonight Show and her own foray into the late-night daypart on Fox, her Emmy Award-winning daytime talk show and E!’s venture into snark couture, Fashion Police.

For its part, Bravo will encore Rivers' last appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 11:30 p.m. (ET).

Rivers, on the July 29 show hosted by Andy Cohen, touted Fashion Police, as well as her new book, Diary of a Mad Diva, when she was shown with Maksim Chmerkovskiy of Dancing with the Stars fame.

“Every single time Joan walked into the clubhouse, I got goosebumps,” said Cohen.

Comedienne and E! Entertainment star Joan Rivers died Thursday after complications from throat surgery last month, according to published reports.

The veteran comic and host of E!’s reality series Fashion Police never recovered after going into cardiac arrest during throat surgery on Aug. 28. The 81-year old comedienne was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital after the surgery where she was placed into a medically-induced coma.

Her daugther Melissa Rivers released the following statement: "It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother. She passed peacefully at 1:17pm surrounded by family and close friends. My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother. Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated. My mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon."

Rivers was a comedic pioneer both on stage and on television during her multi-decade career. In recent years, Rivers was also well known for the red carpet coverage and commentary she provided for TV Guide Channel and E! and also was the host of Fashion Police. She also hosted an online talk show, In Bed With Joan, and co-starred with her daughter on the WE tv reality show, Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best. 

Her career began in theater and stand-up, but she caught the national spotlight when she appeared on NBC’s The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson in 1965. She subsequently became Carson’s official fill-in, a role she played rom 1983-86 until she launched a rival talker, The Late Show on Fox in 1986. The move soured Carson and also kept her from appearing on the Tonight shows helmed by Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien. She didn’t return to NBC’s late-night leader until Jimmy Fallon made his hosting debut last February.

CBS said David Letterman, during the taping of tonight’s Late Show With David Letterman, commented: “Here’s a woman, a real pioneer for other women looking for careers in stand-up comedy. And talk about guts – she would come out here and sit in this chair and say some things that were unbelievable, just where you would have to swallow pretty hard… but it was hilarious… the force of her comedy was overpowering.”

E! Entertainment and NBCUniversal released this statement on Rivers' passing: “E! and NBCUniversal send our deepest condolences to Melissa, Cooper and her entire extended family on this incredibly sad day.  For decades Joan has made people laugh, shattered glass ceilings and revolutionized comedy.  She was unapologetic and fiercely dedicated to entertaining all of us and has left an indelible mark on the people that worked with her and on her legions of fans. She’s been a much beloved member of the E! family for over 20 years and the world is less funny without her in it.  Today our hearts are heavy knowing Joan will not be bounding through the doors.” E! Online also posted a tribute to Rivers.

Discovery Group president Henry Schlieff, a longtime friend of Rivers, said in a statement: “I knew Joan for more than 30 years and while we all recognized her incredible humor and extraordinary work ethic, I can honestly say that her greatest qualities were her loyal friendship and incredible exuberance for life: her intelligence was exceeded only by her genuine warmth.  Indeed, Joan broke down so many barriers in her career and had so many projects yet to come. I join all Joan’s friends and fans in sending my love to Melissa – and, our prayers that she finds some consolation in the knowledge that we all share in her loss.”

One of the first celebrities to pitch products on a home shopping network more than two decades ago, Rivers built a multi-million jewelry, apparel and accessory business on QVC. And even when she wasn’t on the home shopping network, she actively promoted her products, wearing them on not only Fashion Police but during her appearances on other TV shows and for photographs. With Rivers’s death, QVC will have to decide how to proceed with her collection, which is so closely tied to the oft-times controversial entertainer.

“She has been a special part of our QVC family for 24 years, and we knew Joan not only as an extraordinary comedian, writer, producer and business leader, but as a generous and caring spirit, who inspired us to be better every day,” QVC president and CEO Mike George said in a statement. “Joan truly loved her customers, and delighted in bringing joy and inspiration to their lives over these last many years.”
