Max will bring back its thriller series Pretty Little Liars for a second season with the May 9 premiere of Pretty Little Liars: Summer School.

The sophomore campaign of the series follows the events of the Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin first season and focuses on the four main high school characters as they attend summer school. Amid their fun summer jobs and love interests, a new villain comes to town that will put them all to the test, according to Max.   

Series regulars Bailee Madison, Chandler Kinney, Zaria, Malia Pyles and Maia Reficco star in the second season, along with Mallory Bechtel, Sharon Leal, Alex Aiono, Jordan Gonzalez and Elias Kacavas. 

Pretty Little Liars: Summer School is executive-produced by Leslie Morganstein, Gina Girolamo, Marlene King, and Michael Grassi. 

Starz will launch the third and final season of its drama series Hightown on January 26.

The series, which stars Monica Raymond as flawed police officer Jackie Quinones battling against a deadly opioid crisis in Cape Cod, last aired on the premium network in 2021. Starz describes season three of the series as one in which bad guys and corruption arise from all sides, forcing Jackie to learn to stand by herself and for what she believes in.

Along with Raymund, the series stars James Badge Dale, Riley Voelkel, Amaury Nolasco, Atkins Estimond and Dohn Norwood. 

Hightown is executive produced by Rebecca Cutter, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, KristineAnne Reed, Ellen Schwartz, Gary Lennon and Tim Walsh. 

Starz has renewed its drama series Power Book III: Raising Kanan in advance of its December 1 season three premiere.
 
The series, the second spinoff series from Starz's Power franchise, has already begun production on its fourth season. Power Book III: Raising Kanan tells the origins of Power character Kanan Stark and his entry into the criminal world through his mother, who ruthlessly runs the family's drug empire, according to Starz.

BET Plus will debut the second season of its gospel music-themed drama series Kingdom Business on November 2.

The series explores the gospel music industry through multiple lenses of family, faith, love and the redemptive power of music. The second season finds the Jordan family fighting for their gospel record label, their positions in the church, and even their lives, according to BET Plus. 

The series stars Yolanda Adams, Michael Jai White and Michael Beach, with appearances by Loretta Devine, Louis Gossett Jr., Tamar Braxton, Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Kirk Franklin.

Kingdom Business is executive produced by Franklin, Dr. Holly Carter, DeVon Franklin,  Kenny Lenhart, John J. Sakmar, Michael Van Dyck and Deb Evans.

Damian Lewis will return to Showtime’s Billions for several episodes in the drama series’ upcoming seventh season.  

Lewis will reprise his role as Bobby Axelrod for six of the 12 episodes of the series, which stars Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll and Maggie Siff, according to the network. Lewis starred in the series’ first five seasons. 

The network also said that Toney Goins has been promoted to a series regular in season seven.

Showtime describes season seven of the drama series as one in which alliances are turned on their heads, old wounds are weaponized, loyalties are tested, betrayal takes on epic proportions and enemies become wary friends.

It didn’t take long for HBO to renew its latest hit drama series The Last of Us, greenlighting a second season two weeks after the show’s debut.

The series, based on a video game of the same name that follows apocalypse survivors trying to escape a brutal quarantine zone, averaged 5.7 million viewers across HBO and HBO Max for its second episode this past Sunday, a 22% increase over its week one viewership, according to the network. 

The series, which stars Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv and Nico Parker, is executive produced by Craig Mazin, Neil Druckman, Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan and Rose Lam.

A new trailer for the HBO's Emmy-winning drama series Succession promises more drama for the Roy family in the show's fourth season.

Succession, which won a 2022 Emmy Award for best drama series, follows the exploits of the Roy family, including the patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) and his four grown children, Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Siobhan (Sarah Snook), Roman (Kieran Culkin), and Connor (Alan Ruck).

According to HBO, the fourth season picks up after the proposed sale of the family-owned media company Waystar Royco, and how the prospect of the seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed, said the network.

The series also stars Matthew Macfadyen, Nicholas Braun, J. Smith-Cameron, Peter Friedman, David Rasche, Fisher Stevens, Hiam Abbass, Justine Lupe, Scott Nicholson, Zoë Winters, and Jeannie Berlin.

Starz will bring back its drama series P-Valley for a third season, the cable network said Thursday.

The series, created by Katori Hall, follows the exploits of workers and patrons of a Mississippi Delta-baes strip club dubbed the Pynk. The series finished its second season as Starz's biggest show, averages nearly 10.3 million viewers across linear, video on demand and streaming platforms. That was a 23% increase versus the show's first season, according to the network.

"P-Valley continues to keep viewers on the edge of their seats as it captures the nuances of the Mississippi Delta with an unprecedented level of humanity and artistry,” said Starz President of Original Programming Kathryn Busby in a statement. “This layered drama gets beyond the glitz through authentic and complex characters that have captured the hearts of critics and audiences alike. Prime Video saddles up for a Western revenge drama in a new trailer for original series The English, debuting November 11.

The six-episode series stars Emily Blunt and Chaske Spencer as two people seeking their own slice of revenge coming together in 1890 middle America to cross a violent landscape built on dreams and blood, according to the streaming service.

The series also stars Rafe Spall, Tom Hughes, Toby Jones, and Ciarán Hinds. The English is executive produced by Hugo Blick, Emily Blunt, Greg Brenman, and Colin Wratten, according to Prime Video.■ 

Epix – soon to be renamed MGM Plus – will bring back its Emmy-winning original series Godfather Of Harlem for its third season on January 15.

The series stars Forest Whitaker as infamous1960’s crime boss Bumpy Johnson, who looks to reclaim his control of Harlem’s underworld after a stint in jail. The third season continues Johnson’s quest as he battles with other aspirants to the throne, namely the Cuban Mafia from neighboring Spanish Harlem, according to the network.

The second season of the series in 2021 was Epix’s best performing season of all time, with the season two finale finishing as the network’s most watched finale episode ever, according to Epix. 

Along with Whitaker, Godfather of Harlem stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Giancarlo Esposito, Ilfenesh Hadera, Lucy Fry and Antoinette Crowe-Legacy. Whitaker serves as executive producer for the series along with Chris Brancato, Paul Eckstein, Nina Yang Bongiovi, James Acheson, Markuann Smith and Joe Chappelle.■

The Duttons are taking over Montana politics according to the latest trailer for the new season of Paramount Network's original drama series Yellowstone, which debuts November 13.

Yellowstone stars Kevin Costner as  John Dutton, who -- in the series' fifth-season trailer -- is sworn in as Governor of Montana. The trailer also previews the ensuing chaos that immediately follows, according to the network. 

Yellowstone, cable's most watched scripted series, also stars Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Forrie Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Finn Little, Ryan Bingham and Gil Birmingham.

The series, created by Taylor Sheridan, follows the exploits of the Dutton family, who control the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States and are in constant conflict with an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and business rivalries, said the network.

Showtime has greenlit a sixth season of its Lena Waithe-produced series The Chi.

The series, which follows the lives of a group of residents on the South Side of Chicago, is currently in its fifth season on Showtime, with the finale set for September 4, according to the network. The current season is on pace to set a new streaming audience record, with online viewing up 20% compared to the previous year, said the network.

Season six of the series will premiere in 2023.

The Chi stars Jacob Latimore, Alex Hibbert, Yolonda Ross, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, Birgundi Baker, Luke James and Curtiss Cook, with Kandi Burruss, La La Anthony, Jason Weaver, Steven Williams, Rolando Boyce and Iman Shumpert appearing as guest stars.

Along with Waithe, Common, Aaron Kaplan, Rick Famuyiwa, Derek Dudley, Shelby Stone, Rishi Rajani, Jewel Coronel and Justin Hillian serve as executive producers, according to Showtime. ■  

Apple TV Plus has dropped a trailer for its dark comedy series Bad Sisters, which debuts on the streaming service Aug. 9.

The series, from producer Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe), follows three, tight-knit sisters who are under investigation from an insurance company looking to confirm how their brother-in-law died-- considering each had reason to kill him, according to Apple TV Plus.

The ensemble cast for the series includes Horgan, Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene and Eve Hewson.

FX didn't wait long to renew its freshman drama series The Old Man, greenlighting a second season shortly after the show's June 16 premiere.

The series, which stars Jeff Bridges, John Lithgow and Amy Brenneman, is cable's most-watched series premiere dating back to January 2021, which includes 61 drama, comedy and limited series debuting on basic and premium cable networks, according to the network.

The Old Man, based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Thomas Perry, follows the exploits of an ex CIA agent who has been living off the grid for decades. When an assassin arrives and tries to take him out, the old operative learns that to ensure his future he now must reconcile his past, said the network.

Apple TV Plus examines the events at a local hospital in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in a trailer for its original drama series Five Days at Memorial, debuting on the streaming service August 12.

The series, based on the book of the same name, focuses on actual events after Hurricane Katrina as exhausted caregivers at a New Orleans hospital were forced to make decisions that would follow them for years to come, according to the streaming service.

The eight-episode series stars Vera Farmiga, Robert Pine and Cherry Jones.  Five Days at Memorial is executive produced by John Ridley and Carlton Cuse.■

AMC Networks will bring back its recently launched drama series Dark Winds for a second season, the network said Tuesday.

The series, which follows a Tribal Police lieutenant as he seeks to solve a series of seemingly unrelated crimes on a remote outpost of the Navajo Nation, debuted on AMC June 12 and attracted an audience of 2.2 million viewers on AMC in Nielsen live+3 ratings, according to Nielsen.

Dark Winds, which stars Zahn McClarnon, Kiowa Gordon and Jessica Matten, also ranks as the most viewed series launch in AMC+ history.

The six-episode, second season of Dark Winds will debut in 2023, said the network.

HBO Max will debut its reimagining of the young adult-targeted Pretty Little Liars drama series on July 28, according to a new trailer released Wednesday.

The series, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, takes place 20 years after the events of the original Pretty Little Liars series – which ran on Freeform from 2010-2017 – in which a series of tragic events almost ripped the fictional blue-collar town of Millwood apart, according to the streaming service. Now, in present day, a disparate group of teen girls find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin committed by their parents two decades ago, as well as their own, said HBO Max.

The series stars Bailee Madison, Chandler Kinney, Zaria, Malia Pyles, and Maia Reficco, as well as Mallory Bechtel, Sharon Leal, Elena Goode, Lea Salonga, Eric Johnson, and Alex Aiono.

Hallmark Channel said it has greenlit Ride, a rodeo-themed drama series, which will debut in 2023.

The series features a “multigenerational family ensemble following the lives of the Murrays, part of a rodeo dynasty going back a generation, as they struggle to keep their beloved ranch afloat,“ the network said. ”After a tragic loss, each character embarks on an empowering journey of transformation and self-discovery while also uncovering a twisted web of secrets threatening to tear the family and their small Colorado town apart at the seams.”

OWN will continue the courtroom drama series All Rise series with the June 7 third season premiere of the former CBS show, according to the series' new trailer.

The series, which was cancelled by CBS in 2021 after two seasons, stars Simone Missick and follows the chaotic, hopeful, and sometimes absurd lives of Los Angeles judges, prosecutors, and public defenders. They all work together with bailiffs, clerks, and police to get justice for the people of Los Angeles amidst a flawed legal system, according to the network.

Dee Harris-Lawrence (OWN’s David Makes Man) returns as executive producer and showrunner for the third season of the Warner Bros. Television-produced series. Missick, Michael M. Robin and Len Goldstein also serve as All Rise executive producers.

HBO Thursday offered a teaser trailer for its highly-anticipated Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon, which debuts Aug. 21. 

The 10-episode series, based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones that tells the story of House Targaryen, said the network.

The series stars Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans.

BET has renewed original, Tyler Perry-produced series The Oval and Sistas for new seasons, the network said Tuesday.

The Oval, which follows the exploits of the the First Family and staff at the White House, will return for a fourth season. The series, which stars Ed Quinn, Kron Moore, Javon Johnson, Ptosha Storey, Vaughn Hebron and Teesha Renee, averaged 1.3 million viewers on a Nielsen Live+3 basis during its third season, according to the network. 

The Oval's season three finale airs March 23, said BET.

Sistas will return for a fifth season and will continue to follow a group of single Black females navigating their careers, friendships and love lives, according to the network. Sistas for its fourth season averaged 1.6 million viewers in Nielsen Live+3 ratings across BET And BET Her, reported the network. The series stars KJ Smith, Mignon, Ebony Obsidian, Novi Brown, Crystal Renee' Hayslett and Devale Ellis.

New seasons of both series will begin production this spring at Tyler Perry Studios. ■ 

Apple TV Plus released a first look trailer for its spy drama Slow Horses, starring Gary Oldman and debuting on the streaming service April 1.

The series follows Oldman as he leads a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents known mostly for their career-ending mistakes through the ins and outs of the espionage world, according to Apple TV Plus.

Also starring in Slow Horses are Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Olivia Cooke, Saskia Reeves, Dustin Demri-Burns and Rosalind Eleazar. Starz will return to Cape Cod for more crime drama as it has renewed Hightown for a third season. 

The series stars Monica Raymund as a local policer investigating a crime wave of deadly carfentanyl flooding Cape Cod, according to the network. The second season of the series ended this past December. 

“Hightown is such an incredible show, and we could not be happier that it’s been renewed for a third season,” Starz President of Original Programming Kathryn Busby said in a statement. “We are excited to return to Cape Cod to see our iconic characters battle their past mistakes as well as new foes in the dangerous underworld that lies beneath this idyllic setting.”

HBO has renewed its period drama The Gilded Age for a second season, the network announced Monday. 

The series, from Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, is currently in its nine-episode first season  run, with the series’ season finale scheduled for March 21. The series stars an ensemble cast of Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denée Benton, Taissa Farmiga, Blake Ritson, Simon Jones, Harry Richardson, Thomas Cocquerel, Jack Gilpin, with Cynthia Nixon and Christine Baranski.

The series follows the lives of characters prospering during the late 19th century, according to HBO. The Gilded Age's January 24 premiere was the best Monday night debut on HBO since the 2019 debut of Chenobyl.

“Julian Fellowes and the entire Gilded Age family have thoroughly captivated us with their tale of late 19th century New York City extravagance,” said Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming in a statement. “Along with our partners at Universal Television, we couldn't be prouder to embark on a season two journey with this extraordinarily talented team.”

Disney Plus has set a May 25 date for the debut of the Star Wars spinoff series Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The Lucasfilm-produced series stars Ewan McGregor reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master. According to Disney Plus, the series starts 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Also starring in the series is Hayden Christensen, who returns in the role of Darth Vader, as well as Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie. 

Obi-Wan Kenobi is executive produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and Joby Harold. ■

Fx will debut the fourth season of its biker drama series Mayans M.C. on April 19, the network said.

The series, a spinoff of FX’s Sons of Anarchy series, follows the life of Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes, played by JD Pardo, who is a member of the Mayans M.C. charter on the California/Mexican border. 

The series also stars Clayton Cardenas, Edward James Olmos, Danny Pino, Carla Baratta, Michael Irby, Raoul Max Trujillo, Richard Cabral, Emilio Rivera, Sarah Bolger, Frankie Loyal, Joseph Lucero and Vincent Vargas.

HBO has renewed its Emmy winning drama series Euphoria for a third season, the network said Friday.

The series, which stars Emmy-winning actress Zendaya, is currently in its second season on HBO, with the season finale set for February 27, according to the premium service.

Euphoria’s January 9 season two premiere episode debuted as the most viewed episode of an HBO series ever on HBO Max, currently with more than 14 million viewers across platforms, more than double the average audience of Season 1 (6.6 million viewers per episode), according to HBO.

The series follows Zendaya’s teenage character Rue as she seeks to balance the pressures of love, loss and addiction, according to the network. Zendaya’s portrayal of Rue earned her a 2020 Emmy Award for best actress in a drama series.

Showtime has released the original trailer for  its new original drama series, Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber, which premieres February 27. 

Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber stars  Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kyle Chandler and Uma Thurman, tells the story of one of Silicon Valley’s most successful and most destructive unicorns, Uber, according to the network. 

The season pivots on Travis Kalanick (Gordon-Levitt), Uber’s hard-charging CEO who was ultimately ousted in a boardroom coup, and his sometimes tumultuous relationship with his mentor Bill Gurley (Chandler), the plainspoken, brilliant Texan venture capitalist who bets his sterling reputation on Uber’s success – and then has to live with the consequences, said Showtime.

Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber is the first installment of the anthology series in which each season will explore a story that rocked the business world and changed culture. Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber is executive produced by Brian Koppelman, David Levien, Beth Schacter, Paul Schiff, Stephen Schiff and Allyce Ozarski. ■ 

Emmy-nominated drama series The Boys will return to Prime Video for its third season June 3, the streaming service announced Friday. 

The Boys follows the exploits of popular superheroes who abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good, according to the streaming service. 

Karl Urban, Anthony Starr and Jack Quaid star in the series, which was nominated for an 2021 Emmy Award for outstanding drama series.

Netflix Thursday offered the official trailer for part one of the fourth and final season of its Emmy-winning drama series Ozark, which debuts January 21.

The series’ final season, which will be released in two parts consisting of seven episodes each, continues to follow the Byrde family’s journey from their normal, suburban Chicago life to their dangerous criminal enterprise in the Ozarks, according to Netflix.

Ozark stars Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Charlie Tahan and Jessica Frances Dukes. The series, produced by MRC Television, is executive produced by Chris Mundy, Bateman, Mark Williams, John Shiban, Patrick Markey and Bill Dubuque. ■ 

Netflix will return its Emmy-nominated drama series Bridgerton for its second season on March 25, the streaming service announced Christmas Day -- the first anniversary of the show's debut.

Bridgerton's second season will follow the exploits of Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) as he seeks a wife, according to the streaming service. The series, from producer Shonda Rhimes, drew 12 Emmy Awards nominations, including an Outstanding Drama Series nod.

Bridgerton season one star and Emmy-nominated actor Regé-Jean Page will not return for the show's second season, but actors coming back for the series' sophomore campaign include Adjoa Andoh, Lorraine Ashbourne, Will Tilston and Luke Thompson. ■

Showtime has greenlit a second season for its original scripted drama series Yellowjackets, the network said Thursday. 

The series, which stars Juliette Lewis and Christina Ricci, follows the lives of players from a high school girls soccer team 25 years after surviving a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness, according to Showtime. The Nov. 14 premiere of Yellowjackets has drawn more than 4 million viewers, reported the network. 

The first season finale of Yellowjackets is set for January 16, according to network officials. The series is produced by Entertainment One and executive produced by Ashley Lyle, Bart Nickerson, Jonathan Lisco, Karyn Kusama and Drew Comins. 

“Yellowjackets has been an unadulterated sensation for Showtime,” said Showtime president Gary Levine in a statement. “We are overwhelmed by both the acclaim and the audience response to our series, including several ‘Best of 2021’ lists, a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and snowballing viewership. HBO’s drama series Euphoria will return for its second season on Jan. 9, the network announced Tuesday.

Zendaya, who won a 2020 Emmy for best actress in a drama series for her portrayal of troubled teenager Rue, returns for the show's sophomore campaign seeking to find hope while balancing the pressures of love, loss and addiction, said the network.

Also starring in the series are Hunter Schafer, Nika King, Eric Dane, Angus Cloud and Jacob Elordi.

HBO will move forward with a fourth season of its drama series Succession, the network said Tuesday.

The Emmy award-winning drama is currently in its third season run on HBO. The Jesse Armstrong-created series drew more than 1.4 million viewers during its Oct. 17 season debut across all HBO platforms, said the company.

Succession, which explores themes of power and family dynamics through the eyes of patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) and his four grown children, Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Siobhan (Sarah Snook), Roman (Kieran Culkin), and Connor (Alan Ruck).

“With each season of Succession, Jesse Armstrong has continued to surpass our wildest expectations, pulling us deeper into the Roy family’s inner sanctum with indelible wit, humanity, and precision,” Francesca Orsi, HBO programming executive VP, said in a statement. “This season is undoubtedly no exception, and we couldn’t be more excited for all that’s in store in this next season ahead.”

Also starring in the series are Nicholas Braun, Matthew Macfadyen, Peter Friedman, J. OWN:Oprah Winfrey Network will develop a third season of the courtroom drama All Rise, the network said Wednesday.

The series, which was cancelled by CBS earlier this year after two seasons, will return to OWN for its third season in 2022. All Rise, which stars Simone Missick, follows the chaotic, hopeful, and sometimes absurd lives of its judges, prosecutors, and public defenders, as they work with bailiffs, clerks, and police to get justice for the people of Los Angeles amidst a flawed legal system, said the network. 

Dee Harris-Lawrence (OWN’s David Makes Man) will return as executive producer and showrunner for the third season of the Warner Bros. Television-produced series.

“All Rise has been a great performer, achieving strong ratings and growing its share from season one to two. Featuring a strong character front and center, Judge Lola Carmichael's story reflects our audience with powerful affirmation,” said Tina Perry, president, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network in a statement.. “A special thanks to Warner Bros. HBO Max and Hulu have acquired subscription streaming rights to all episodes of All Rise, with the first two season of the series launching on both services beginning Dec. 1, according to Warner Bros. Television.

“We are incredibly thrilled that All Rise will be back in court, and we are so thankful to our great partners at OWN for ruling in favor of another season of this powerful drama,” said Warner Bros. Starz has greenlit a second season of its dramedy series Run The World, the premium service announced Friday.

The series, which follows a group of thirty-something Black women who live, work and play in Harlem, will return with Rachelle Williams (Mix-ish) as its showrunner. Williams, Yvette Lee Bowser and Leigh Davenport will serve as executive producers.

The series stars Amber Stevens West, Andrea Bordeaux, Bresha Webb and Corbin Reid.

Showtime has greenlit a drama series pilot The Wood, based on the 1990s film revolving around Black male friendship in Los Angeles, the network announced Tuesday at the TCA Summer Press Tour session. 

The pilot will be directed by the film's writer/director Rick Famuyiwa (The Chi) and will look at friendship and dating from the perspective of three young Black males born and raised in the L.A. suburb of Inglewood, said the network. The 1999 The Wood film starred Omar Epps, Richard Jones and Sean Nelson.

Also on the docket is YellowJackets, a one-hour series debuting Nov. 14 that follows the exploits of a high school girls soccer players who survive a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness.

Starz has renewed its original crime drama Hightown for a second season, the network announced Thursday during its virtual TCA Summer Press Tour presentation.

The 10-episode series will launch its sophomore campaign Oct. 17, and follows lead character Jackie Quinones (Monica Raymund) -- now a police officer -- who is thrust immediately into the crime wave of deadly carfentanyl flooding Cape Cod, according to network officials. Jackie is laser-focused on bringing down drug dealer Frankie Cuevas (Amaury Nolasco), the man Jackie holds responsible for the death of her best friend, Junior, said Starz.

Raymund, James Badge Dale, Riley Voelkel, Amaury Nolasco, Atkins Estimond, and Dohn Norwood return in their previous roles for the second season, with guest star appearances from Luis Guzman, Jona Xiao and Crystal Lee Brown. 

Hightown is executive produced by Rebecca Cutter, Gary Lennon, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed and Ellen H. Schwartz.

TNT has renewed its original series Snowpiercer for a fourth season in advance of the sci-fi drama series' third season.

Snowpiecer, which stars  Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Sean Bean, Rowan Blanchard, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner and Iddo Goldberg, recently finished production on its third season, which will debut on the network early next year.

Snowpiercer follows the passengers of a train that circles the globe carrying the last survivors of humanity. The series is executive produced by Graeme Manson, Aubrey Nealon, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements, Matthew O’Connor, Ben Rosenblatt and Scott Derrickson, said TNT.

“‘Snowpiercer has been an incredibly successful series for us that continues to capture the imagination of viewers, grow audience and maintain strong ratings,” said Sam Linsky and Adrienne O’Riain, co-heads of scripted original programming for TBS, TNT and truTV in a statement. “All of our seasons embark on an emotional, unexpected ride and the well-plotted storylines will continue to evolve and remain relevant to audiences. Showtime will mark the return of its drama series Dexter on Nov. 7, the network said during its San Diego Comic-Con virtual panel Sunday.

The 10-episode Dexter: New Blood stars Michael C. Hall reprising his role as serial killer Dexter Morgan. According to Showtime, Morgan is living under an assumed name in a small New York town 10 years after he went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura. While he may be embracing his new life, his dark past beckons in the wake of unexpected events in the close-knit community.

Dexter ran for eight seasons on Showtime from 2006-2013.

Also starring in the series are Julia Jones (The Mandalorian), Alano Miller (Sylvie’s Love), Johnny Sequoyah (Believe), Jack Alcott (The Good Lord Bird) and Clancy Brown (The Crown).

The 11th and final season of AMC’s drama series The Walking Dead will debut in August, the network said Sunday night. 

The zombie-themed series will begin its final season Aug. 22 with eight episodes, the first of 24 episodes that will end the long-running show, according to AMC. The announcement was made via a trailer that ran during Sunday's finale of the network’s 10th season. 

 “The final chapter of The Walking Dead begins with eight action-packed episodes that will feature the massive scope and scale fans have come to expect from TWD Universe, and I'm thrilled to share that fans won't have to wait long for these incredible new episodes to debut this summer,” Scott Gimple, chief content officer of TWD Universe said.

Added The Walking Dead showrunner and executive producer Angela Kang: “Coming off of the six additional episodes for Season 10, which focused on smaller, character-driven stories, we're excited to kick off Season 11 bigger than ever. The stakes will be high – we'll see more zombies, tons of action, intriguing new stories, never-before-seen locations and our groups together in one community for the first time, trying to rebuild what the Whisperers took from them.”

Showtime has set a March 28 date for the return of crime drama series City On A Hill and an April 18 premiere date for the second season of Couples Therapy.

City On a Hill will return for its sophomore campaign with stars Kevin Bacon, reprising his role irreverent FBI agent Jackie Rohr, and Aldis Hodge -- portraying assistant district attorney Decourcy Ward. The two will continue to butt heads in the second season, which centers on a federal housing project in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, said the network. 

Couples Therapy returns for its second season with Dr. Orna Guralnik continuing to serve as a therapist to struggling couples. The nine-episode season will provide viewers with an authentic and visceral look at her weekly therapy sessions. 

Showtime will air back to back episodes of Couple's Therapy leading up to the finale on May 16, said the network.

HBO will debut its new fantasy/sci-fi series The Nevers in April, the network said Tuesday.

The six-episode series follows Victorian-era Londoners -- mostly women -- who have been "touched" with abnormal abilities that are charming as well as disturbing, said the network. 

Laura Donnelly and Ann Skelly star as champions of this new underclass as they look to make a home within an often unwelcoming society, said HBO.

Also starring in the series are Olivia Williams, James Norton, Tom Riley, Rochelle Neil, Eleanor Tomlinson, Amy Manson, Pip Torrens, Denis O'Hare, Zackary Momoh, Elizabeth Berrington, Kiran Sawar, Anna Devlin, Viola Prettejohn, Ella Smith, Nick Frost and Ben Chaplin.

The Nevers is created and executive produced by Joss Whedon. Bernadette Caulfield, Ilene S. Landress, Doug Petrie, Jane Espenson and Philippa Goslett also serve as executive producers. 

 OWN has given a sixth season renewal to its drama series Queen Sugar ahead of the show’s fifth season premiere, the network said Thursday.

The Ava DuVernay-produced series, which will premiere its fifth season on Feb. 16, will launch its sixth campaign later in 2021, according to the network. The series, which portrays an African-American family in the Deep South, stars Dawn-Lyen Gardner, Rutina Wesley, Nicholas Ashe, Greg Vaughn, Kofi Siriboe, Ethan Hutchinson and Bianca Lawson. 

OWN executives said season five of Queen Sugar will tackle head-on the COVID-19 pandemic, the Black Lives Matter protest movement that swept the country, and corruption in politics to showcase the specific impact and ramifications these issues have on communities and people of color. 

“When Ava came to us with the idea to revamp the storyline for the new season after production was halted due to the pandemic, we knew it was the right decision to give our viewers her unique perspective on the very real issues impacting their daily lives and the affect the demand for racial equality has had on the Black community and our society as a whole,” said Tina Perry, president, OWN in a statement. “We are proud to announce today the pickup of the show’s sixth season which will air later this year enabling us to further explore the compelling story of the Bordelon family. We are grateful to Ava, her creative team, the incredible cast and tireless crew for all the hard work they have put into the show.”

OWN will produce a January special that gives a behind the scenes look at the drama series Underground, the network said Thursday.

The special, Revisiting Underground, will debut Jan. 5 after OWN’s premiere of the historical series drama, which aired on WGN America for two seasons from 2016-2017. OWN acquired the rights to Underground from Sony Pictures Television earlier this month.

The special, hosted by series executive producer John Legend, will take a behind-the-scenes look at the series, which stars Aldis Hodge and Jurnee Smollett and follows the journey of slaves running for their freedom during the 1850s. 

Underground on OWN will feature a revitalized version of the series, with newly filmed episodic introductions by cast members and never-before-seen footage, according to OWN. Underground co-creators Misha Green and Joe Pokaski along with Legend and Anthony Hemingway served as executive producers of the series.

Peacock has set a Sept. 4 premiere date for its adult drama series Noughts + Crosses, the streaming service said Monday.

The six-episode drama series follows the love story of two young adults in an alternative world in which the racial power structure is flipped, Peacock said. The series, adapted from British author Malorie Blackman’s young adult book series, showcases the mixed-race relationship against a backdrop in which history happens in racial reverse.

Noughts + Crosses, which stars Jack Rowan, Masali Baduza, Jonathan Ajayi and Helen Baxendale, is executive produced by Participant and Rock Nation.

BET will bring back drama series Tyler Perry’sSistas and Tyler Perry’s The Oval for sophomore campaigns.

Production for The Oval, which tells of a family placed in the White House by people of power, and Sistas, which follows the lives of a group of single black females, will begin in July, according to the network.

Showtime Friday rolled debuted the official trailer of its new drama series Penny Dreadful: City Of Angels, which premieres April 26. 

The series, a spinoff of Showtime's Penny Dreadful series which aired from 2014-2016, explores a mix of the supernatural and combustible reality of 1938 Los Angeles, where a grisly murder shocks the city, according to the network. 

The series stars Nathan Lane, Natalie Dormer, Daniel Zovatto, Kerry Bishé, Rory Kinnear, Adriana Barraza, Michael Gladis, Jessica Garza and Johnathan Nieves.
