On tap for New Year’s Day is the return of BBC America’s iconic sci-fi series Doctor Who, while Netflix debuts two original series Messiah and Spinning Out.

On Jan. 4, Netflix will resurrect an iconic vampire legend in Dracula, a new series co-produced by the BBC.

In the spirit of the day, Showtime will air the first two episodes of its horror series, Penny Dreadful, on Halloween night starting at 9 p.m., the premium network announced today. 

The first two episodes are also available today on YouTube, Showtime and through free On Demand channels and websites.

Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and popular figures from the novel Dracula will be highlighed through Victorian London in the critically-acclaimed series.

John Logan of Desert Wolf Productions is the writer, creator and executive producer of Penny Dreadful and Neal Street Productions’ Pippa Harris and Sam Mendes also serve as executive producers. 

Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton and Eva Green star in the series, with Reeve Carney, Rory Kinnear, Billie Piper, Danny Sapani and Harry Treadaway as co-stars. 

Showtime Anytime will also make the installments accssible to subscirbers on all computers, Android phones, tablets and more under the "free full episodes" heading.
