The Independence Day premiere of Netflix's horror-themed series Stranger Things leads a light schedule of show premieres over the July 4 week.

The third season of Stranger Things continues the exploits of five teenage friends on the cusp of adulthood trying to figure out how to grow up without growing apart who eventually come together to fight evil enemies, according to Netflix. 

Below are video trailers and premiere dates for several shows debuting this week on cable networks and streaming services:

July 1 -- Divorce (returning series) -- HBO

July 4 -- Into the Dark: Culture Shock (horror) -- Hulu

July 7 -- Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian (reality) -- E!

HBO has set a Jan. 14 date for the second season return of two comedy series Divorce and Crashing, said network executives.

Divorce, which stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church, will debut Jan. 14 at 10 p.m., while the Pete Holmes starrer Crashing will premiere its new season at 10:30, according to the network. 

Divorce is executive produced by Jenny Bicks, Sarah Jessica Parker, Alison Benson, Sharon Horgan and Aaron Kaplan, while Crashing is executive produced by Pete Holmes, Judd Apatow and Judah Miller.

HBO’s three scripted fall series, Westworld, Divorce and Insecure have all been renewed for sophomore campaigns, the network said Monday.

“I am thrilled to announce the pickup of our three fall series, all of which have distinctive, original voices,” said HBO programming president Casey Bloys in a statement. “Critics and viewers alike have welcomed Westworld and Insecure, as well as the return of Sarah Jessica Parker to the network after 12 years with Divorce.”

Westworld, a takoff on the 1970’s sci-fi film of the same name, is averaging 11.7 million viewers across multiple platforms so far through its first season, ahead of both Game Of Thrones and True Detective’s performances during its first season on air, said network officials.

Insecure, stars Issa Rae and explores the contemporary black female experience in an unclichéd and authentic way, while Divorce stars Parker and Thomas Haden Church as a couple struggling to cope with their marriage falling apart.

Both shows are averaging 4.4 million and 3.2 million viewers, respectively, which is on par with other HBO half-hours like Veep and Girls, according to HBO.

HBO’s scheduling decision to offer early views of the second episode of sci-fi series Westworld helped the episode draw a combined 2.7 million viewers, the network said Monday.

The pay service made the Westworld episode available Friday via HBO and HBO Now prior to last night’s linear debut, which was up against stiff competition from NBC’s Green Bay Packers-New York Giants National Football League live game telecast and multichannel coverage of the second presidential debate.

The episode drew 1.9 million viewers across two Sunday plays, and another 800,000 viewers on its streaming platforms, according to network officials. The Oct. 2 premiere episode of Westworld has thus far reached more than 6 million viewers via multiple linear plays and across multiple platforms, said the service.

HBO offered early digital plays for two freshman comedy series Divorce and Insecure. Divorce, starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church tallied 1.1 million viewers – 723,000 viewers across two Sunday linear plays as well as 250,000 combined views on HBO Go and HBO Now. The Issa Rae-starrer Insecure drew a combined 1.1 million viewers for its premiere episode generated from 601,000 digital viewers through HBO GO, HBO NOW and HBO ON Demand over a two-week run, as well as 585,000 views from two Sunday night airings, said HBO.

Sarah Jessica Parker is returning to HBO. The pay cabler has picked up her series Divorce.

The half-hour comedy, from British writer-actress Sharon Horgan, tells the story of a “very, very long divorce.” Parker is an executive producer on the series, along with Paul Simms, Alison Benson and Aaron Kaplan.

Parker stars as Frances, who HBO describes as a “woman who suddenly begins to reassess her life and her marriage.” Thomas Haden Church will play Parker's husband, Robert. Molly Shannon and Talia Balsam round out the initial cast.
